The clock is ticking but as the broken couple fights for their own lives, can they learn to work together again before time runs out for their friends?

If you're not familiar with my books, I write mystery-suspense novels. I am LDS (Mormon) and so are some of my characters, but I have loyal readers from many different faiths. My goal is to engage the reader in my books. I want to make them laugh and cry and worry and dread the end.

Most of my books are set in the fictional town of Haggerty, Georgia - which is loosely based on my grandparents' hometown of Headland, Alabama (the most wonderful place on earth). Each book has an ample supply of romance, suspense, Southern hospitality and even recipies!"

Once again, the female in this book, Brooke, is so annoying! Otherwise,it was a good story.

I really enjoy the books that Betsy Brannon Green writes. They are full of action and adventure, serving your country and saving those around you. This is a great example of that.

I liked Brooke in this one. She's just realized, after a long life of lying, that lying is not a good thing and it hurts those around you. Case in point...Hunter. She is in love with him and he's been in love with her. But he's just found out from someone else that she lied to him about some very important things and he's not sure what to do. She isn't the woman that he thought she was any more. But Brooke is resourceful, she sees a way that she might be able to make things right with the law and hopefully clear her conscience, so she takes it.

You don't see the story through Hunter's eyes, although you see it through more than just Brooke's. But I love the way that he isn't willing to compromise on Brooke's safety. He may not know just what to think, but he's going to make sure she's cared for and not in danger. As much as he can anyway.

I liked the way everything fit together in this story. There's Brooke, her situation, her uncle's team and job. Hunter is part of the team. But in the end, you learn just who is the bad guy and it wasn't who I thought it was!

Oh how I LOVE Betsy Brannon Green and her "Duty Series!"

Brooke Clayton and Corporal Hunter "Owl" Ezell have gone through a lot together...

And it has brought them closer together...

It is even possible that they have fallen in love with each other.

But Brooke is full of lies and Hunter is fed up with them.

Hoping to win back his trust Brooke vows to never lie again...

This book did an excellent job of explaining a few nagging details from her last book, and proved to be an exciting mystery, as always. However, it was disappointing to see Dane's team so thoroughly outsmarted and out-maneuvered while they whined about being too old for the job. Also, Owl is so self-righteous and harsh that he drained the romance out of the story. When he finally came to his senses, I was almost hoping that she would dump him. The writing is still great, and I think she was true to her characters, but it made me realize that I don't want to hear about Owl's love life nor the reality of Dane's aging team. I need some Miss Eugenia and some fresh new characters, please. :) 3.5 stars

(First off, ugh, I don't like this cover!) It had been a while since I read (listened to) the previous book, so I had to go back and re-skim the ending a bit. I had forgotten that it ended on a fairly big cliffhanger! At first, this story felt like it was going to be a combination of two different storylines, but I liked how everything was brought together. I liked seeing more of Dane and his crew from the previous books and I liked the ending, especially in regards to Hunter and Brooke's relationship. And maybe it was just the narrator's voice, but Brooke really annoyed me at the beginning of the book -- she came across as spoiled, whiny and immature to me. But she grew on me by the ending.

I loved going another amazing adventure in the duty series with these old friends. This is the continuation of "owl" and Brooke's struggles with the illegal allegations with joined forces, an animal activist group, that brook got mixed up with. Owl is trying to keep brook safe and trust her, but lies are hard to ignore.
Dane and the team walk right into the trap that is set for them by an arms dealer that is also rapped up with joined forces. Brook tries to tie all the pieces together and keep owl's newly acquired trust in tact before the real threat comes knocking at her door.

I have read and listened to many books by Betsy Brannon Green, but this one was hard to follow.
It jumped right into a story, and didn't fill you in on what had happened in the previous book. I actually listened to it on CD, and even though I had read the previous book several years ago, I couldn't remember the characters or the story. There should have been at least an introductory chapter to fill you in on what was going on.

The second part of the book was much more interesting. More action, and made more sense.

This book started right at the point that Proceed With Caution ended. It was super confusing because I couldn't remember what happened in the other book and there were no reminders. I had to go back and skim the end of the other book to remember what was going on. After that refresher, I enjoyed the book.

I think the Kindle version needs to be fixed. Every time something is italicized, it automatically shifts that word to the next line and continues. It happens a lot and is kind of annoying.

I love that Betsy Brannon Green's books are kind of genderless. This on leaned a little too far into girl world this time, at least for me. Also, I didn't like the way the heroine (too perfect for me), just brushed off therapy at the end. Perfection is creepy, but I'm thinking the author just wanted to acknowledge that they had a traumatizing experience? But still a page-turner. I love Green's Southern characters. I hope she writes a 100 more books about them.

Betsy Brannon Green has crafted another enjoyable novel, Danger Ahead. Picking up the story from Proceed with Caution Brooke and Hunter are moving ahead with their relationship. Until Brooke is revealed to be a liar. Hunter watches as the woman he loves is revealed to be a fraud. Amid blackmail and illegal activity the must work together to untangle the deception surrounding the environmental activists Joined Forces save the team from an arms dealer.

I had a hard time getting into this story. It had been a while since I read books 1-4 so details were slow coming back to me. Plus, I felt the beginning part was so oddly written that I kept thinking I should quit reading. However, I kept on and it improved. I never really did remember all the details from prior installments but I finished the book.

This book took me 6 months to read. I HATED Brooke and what/who she was to Owl. I stopped reading and would go and slowly read a little more and put it down. I FINALLY sat down to read all of it last night. Once you get past who horrible Brooke is the book is actually good.

I realized partway in I skipped book 4 but wa able to follow the story well. Though Brooke is kind of shallow to me at first, she is not quite as whiny and obnoxious as Savannah in the previous Duty books. The relationship between Brooke and Owl does have way too many similarities to Dane and Savannah. Otherwise, it was a good, clean read and I was surprised at the ending.

I read this book before reading the four preceding books in the series, so I had to figure out what had happened before this book. The relationship between the main characters seemed a little shallow at first but seemed to deepen at the end. So I might try another book in the series. The action in the plot was entertaining.

Brooke was an annoying brat for about 90% of this book. "I know I lied to you and put your life in unnecessary danger like 9 times, but I just need you to love me and trust me and be fine with it." Ick
