It was with some sadness that I started reading Last of the Living, because this is the last word on Zombies from one of the best authors to contribute to the genre. Moody has left a huge mark, not just with his excellent short stories but with both the Autumn and Hater series. He doesn't go out with a whimper though, but with a snarl, a sob, and a lot of smashed brain matter.

The last four wonderful short stories saved this collection from a three star rating. Clever twists on zombie stories which worked beautifully. The Cost of Living was average by the standards of the author, ditto Isolation but it is still worth adding this to your book collection thanks to the last 40+ pages.

This is a collection of short stories about zombies, from one of my new favorite authors. A good collection with different ideas, not simply your typical zombie story. One of the stories is related to his Autumn zombie series but all are stand alone short stories. A quick but entertaining read.

Really good short story collection that is best summed up as a central theme within a central theme for most of them. I'm a big fan of short stories and Moody does not disappoint--he should do more of them. He's an author though that I don't think should restrict himself to zombies at all either--there are a lot of horror topics he could cover.

And all of these while zombies are basically the ENVIRONMENT, a very passive aggressive one. For the most part the zombies in Moody's stories are not exa

A pioneer of independent publishing, DAVID MOODY first released HATER in 2006, and without an agent, succeeded in selling the film rights for the novel to Mark Johnson (producer, Breaking Bad) and Guillermo Del Toro (director, The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth). Moody's seminal zombie novel AUTUMN was made into an (admittedly terrible) movie starring Dexter Fletcher and David Carradine. He has a ...more
