A Charming Secret by Tonya Kappes Magical Cure Mystery series #6. Paranormal cozy mystery. A fire in June’s shop chases her to return to her hometown and revisit the farmers market where she started her business. But June has to figure out why, who and what with her sleuthing skills.
The continuing story of June, Oscar and her mystical cat. This was interesting in that she revisits her roots. 🎧 I listened to this on audio by Karen Savage. I prefer audio for this author to avoid the print text errors. The narrator had a good pace and clear tones.
As usual ... I loved my trip to Whispering Falls! I have loved every book in this series. They get better and better with each new story. I was so excited to get back to Whispering Falls with June,Mr. Prince Charming and the entire cast of characters. A Charming Secret quickly drew me in and I couldn't wait to see what happened but I also didn't want it to end. I always think that I have figured out who the killer is but I never get it right. As always ... good job,Tonya! Can't wait for the next in the series.
This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book six of fourteen.
June is having bad 👎 dreams and can not figure out why. Her cat 🐱 and boyfriend with friends are helping. Then it all comes to a head with the bad 👎 person coming forward and it all coming to 👍 a happy ending 😀.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic family and friends relationships mystery adventure thriller novels 👍🔰. 2024 👒😤🐈
So I wrote this whole rant about how much I can't stand June and pretty much the entire town of Whispering Falls, KY, but Goodreads glitched and the review disappeared. Now I can't be bothered.
Basically, June sucks. She makes bad decisions, gets herself into danger, and is in general a huge dummy. The plots are all the same. Someone gets hurt or killed, June is the only suspect, and the whole town immediately turns against her. She strikes out on her own, puts herself in danger, and then the crime is solved and all is forgiven. Throw in terrible dialogue and unrealistic, unlikeable characters and you have yourself this series.
I can't remember what else I said, but basically I'm the only person who thinks these books stink. Seriously, a high 4 star average? WTF? Some of the greatest books ever written have a high 3 star average, therefore showing us you cannot trust the stars people apply to books here. These books are terrible, June should move away from Whispering Falls, and no one should live happily ever after. The end. 1 star.
This was another good mystery in the series. June is accused of murder. Most people in town know that she is innocent. However, she still has to hide out. Thankfully by the end the truth comes out.
I love Whispering Falls KY !! June finds herself in the middle of another murder.. Thankfully she had Madame Torres, Prince Charming and Oscar to help her.
I actually give this a 3 1/2 star. June is handing over the village presidency to her friend Petunia. Petunia's friends and family have an instant hatred of June and when one turns up dead the whole village turns against June, which forces her into hiding. My drawback with this book is that June plows through and doesn't listen to anyone's advice. This is just my opinion. That being said, I still enjoyed the story it is entertaining, I love the village and would love to ram around a place like that. The mystery was good and wraps up nicely. I will continue on with the next in this series.
For most of the book I wanted to shake June. She keeps saying she needs to follow her intuition which she never does, and she needs to trust Mr. Prince Charming, and Madam Torres which she doesn't. She doesn't listen to anyone. I had bought the last book, this one and the next one already. If I hadn't I wouldn't have bothered after the 5th book in the series. I'll read the 7th book but if it is as annoying as this then I'm done with this series.
This is the sixth book in a "Charming Mystery" series. June is happy, her charming cures potion shop is doing well, she has her boyfriend back and she is just about to hand over the presidency of the village. June never wanted to be president. A new business has gone up over night in Whispering Falls and June is shocked to discover that it is a Bed and Breakfast. The owner of the new business is not a fan of Junes and neither are some other visitors to Whispering Falls thanks to their connection to Petunia Shrubwood who will be taking over as the new village President. June's nightmares have returned and then someone is murdered and her shop is burned down. The people in the village seem to think she is the one who killed the person and burned her shop. June is forced to leave Whispering Falls for her own safety. As always Tonya delivers a lot of twists and turns. I have found that with all of Tonya's books I feel as if I am in the book. Her descriptions of the people and places in her books are so detailed you can picture it in your mind. Loved this book. Can not wait for the next!
Another great magical mystery in Tonya Kappes' Charming series! Perhaps it is that I've read so many now, but this book seemed to go by so fast! I loved that June returned to Locust Grove for a bit. It was good to hear about her non-magical community, and how much she's grown since she moved from there to Whispering Falls.
My favorite part of the book was the fantastic new business in Whispering Falls: Full Moon Treesort. I want to visit there so bad! Tonya created a beautiful retreat for Whispering Falls visitors, that match all the wonderful magical shops perfectly. Book me a room today!
The mystery in this book was, well, as mysterious as the others. So many possible suspects to choose from! I'm happy to say I figured it out before the revelation. I love when I do that? But I'm not telling who done it. You'll have to read the book and find out for yourself.
I also loved the growing relationship between June and Oscar. They are a marvelous couple, and I love reading their love story.
As you see, this book has it all: Mystery, magic, love and, of course, charm. I can't wait for the next one!
I absolutely love all of the Charming series books, and this one definitely doesn't disappoint!! I read the whole story in under 2 hours, I just did not want to put it down! The whole Whispering Falls group is back, along with several new characters; Petunia's sister, cousin, and best friend who has set up a new hotel in town.
It is time for Petunia Shrubwood to become the President of Whispering Falls, but we all know things never go to plan for June Heal. Poor June has been having nightmares again, but she keeps trying to avoid them, that is until her store is caught on fire. June is once again the suspect in a murder and things keep getting stranger for her. June has to leave Whispering Falls to go back to her old house for a while so that she can't interfere with the investigation, and also be safe from the angry residents of Whispering Falls. Being out of town gives her another perspective in the case, and things start to fall together, or so she thinks.
I absolutely cannot wait for more books in this series!!! Thank you, Tonya Kappes for such interesting stories!!!

Trouble is brewing for June Heal, owner of A Charming Cure, a homeopathic cure shop in the magical village of Whispering Falls Kentucky. June's intuition is spot on when her fairy god cat, Mr. Prince Charming, presents her with his newest addition to her charm bracelet, the Third Eye! June will need it when the body of Gwendolyn Shrubwood or "Gwenie" is found dead in the upstairs of Junes burning shop and the murderer looks like it just may be June!. With some help from her handsome fiance' Oscar Park, wizard and sheriff of the village, Madame Torres, her crystal ball, Mr. Prince Charming and the other mystical residents of Whispering Falls, June sets out to clear her name and solve the murder. I will never get enough June Heal or Whispering Falls. Author Tonya Kappes has the descriptive writing style in this series that makes me believe there really is a Whispering Falls and I'm longing to find it!
The sixth book in this charming series is just as good as books one through five. This time it’s the town of Whispering Falls, Ky against an evil that might or might not be mortal. This time June finds herself fighting to prove her innocence in a murder that also wrecked the roof of her shop. When she agrees to give up the presidency of their goup to Petunia, things don’t turn out as expected. Things get really dicey when June told to stay out of Whispering Falls until the case is cleared up. As usual, she can’t do that and things get even more dangerous, not just for her, but for her friends as well. I love Tonya Kappes books. She writes with a quick moving plot that has unexpected twists and turns. They are easy to read and a fast read, even when you want to savor every word. I’m already looking forward to the next one.
I tried to like this series. The concept is wonderful. Who wouldn't want to live in a magical community? Well maybe not this one! Spoiler alert. Let's see 5 murders and one near fatal poisoning? All in a small community within a span of 2 years that she has lived there (6 books). Always the same person blamed who then has to prove her innocence over and over again! The residents are supposedly all her GOOD friends until they accuse her of some horrid crime. Why would anybody stay in a town where murder is so rampant and you get blamed for every crime .???? I surrender!!
A Charming Secret is another winner in Kappes' Magical Cures Series! These are the types of books that you don't want to end, the ones where you know the town and picture yourself among the quaint shops. You never know where trouble brews though or if our lovely June Heal's spiritual gift will be enough this time. Don't miss this book!
June Heal is back and better than ever in this installment of the Magical Cures Series. With a new spiritualist in town and another murder, Prince Charming delivers another charm to June. Tonya takes us back to Locust Grove and weaves a wonderful tale of mystery, romance and magic. I highly recommend!!
It was so great to be back in Whispering Falls with June Heal and Mr. Prince Charming and the rest of the characters. Evil is a brewing for June and she finds herself having to clear her own name. Twists and turns and an ending that surprised me.
It just lacked some of the flair the first parts had. I felt parts were hurried. Over all i would read it over, but it's not as addictive as the first books were
This story is chock full of charm and intrigue, but it’s the relationships that make reading worthy for me with the Kappes series.
June is definitely finding her home in her new community and made a family for herself. Thrilled she and Oscar are engaged at last, but there are definitely magical spills and chills when there is a death and she is framed and shockingly vilified by those same loved ones…several of those in previous books that June herself has rescued or saved from horrifying circumstances, or death.
So it’s hard to believe they can turn on her so fast and so quickly and believe such terrible things, right?? June must exonerate herself - and she has to find the murderer and fast!
Oscar of course believes in her completely as well as Oscar’s aunt Eloise, and June is fierce, determined to act and hunt down the true murderer. June stays on the hunt and eventually, with the support of her beloved god cat Mr. Prince Charming, crystal ball Madame Torres and the eccentric lovable cast of characters in her community, they come together to catch the killer, in a completely unexpected unique way.
Tonya Kappes creates a magical, unique series and an absolutely worthwhile read
"A Charming Secret (A Magical Cures Mystery #6)" by Tonya Kappes is the last of this series I'm going to read for a while. It's far too repetitive of a plot/story flow for me. New store opens in Whispering Falls (where are the falls?) and new shopkeeper is suspected of a crime by June while at the same time she's being targeted by the town police and townsfolk as the culprit. Seriously, some of her friends really suck as friends since they're always willing to believe she's the killer. June has to investigate since she can't wait and she some supposed chosen one. Yet, she thinks that this status is tied to being president of the town and can give it up. She doesn't listen to other, wiser, townspeople who are also her friends or her supposedly magical level of intuition until it's too late. Seriously, all but one of these books I was reading and saying, "why can you see it's __fill in actual culprit's name__ if you have this supposedly magical level of intuition!?!" Nope, need a break from this series now.
I love all the series that Tonya Kappes writes, but the June Heal/Whispering Falls series is my favorite. Petunia's family and friends come to Whispering Falls for the ceremony of June giving the presidency of the town to Petunia. June has been having nightmares and the ceremony doesn't go well. In fact Gwendolyn, Petunia's cousin dies in a fire at June's shop. Everyone is in a turmoil and the number one suspect is June. She returns to her home town, but can't help snooping in Whispering Falls to try and figure out who really killed Gwendolyn. There's lots of great characters in this book including spiritualists, familiars and Madame Torres in June's Crystal ball. Lots of laughs, a good plot and a very enjoyable read. I definitely recommend it!
This was a light and fun read. Things are going well for June and Oscar's relationship. Her business has been successful as well. Unfortunately, as usually is the case, something bad happens to ruin June's happiness. This time June's shop is burned down along with a body inside. June naturally becomes a suspect and as usual some of her great supposed "friends" in this community turn against her immediately. I found that irritating but not completely surprising. However, I was surprised by the intimacy between June and Oscar. Warning if you are letting your kids read this, that there is a non-graphic sex scene between June and Oscar in the book. All in all, it was a good read.
Another great read in this series, I wasn't able to put it down. As June is handing over the reins of Village president to Petunia, the village is busy get ready for the handing over ceremony. Petunia's Sister, Cousin and best friend are visiting for the event. When Gweni, Petuina's cousin is found murdered in June's burning shop, all sign point to June. Forced to leave the village, can She and Oscar find the real murder before it cost her everything. can't wait to read book 7
Another charming visit to Whispering Falls. I love how the businesses and their owners are described. Makes you really want to go for real and stay over in the new Bed and Breakfast. Madam Torres and Mr. Prince Charming are always anxious to help June but for some reason June won't listen to them or even tune into her spiritual gift of intuition so she winds up in trouble. Wonderful how supportive Oscar and Eloise and Mac are.
June is once again accused of a murder. Everyone knows that she could not do something like this. She thought she had friends who would stick by her, but now she isn't so sure. There are other suspects, but how to prove that someone else did it. She would not try to burn down her own shop. Oscar can't investigate it because he is engaged to her, so it is up to Colton to do it. Can she trust him to be impartial? Who can she trust?
As June is completing the ceremony to give up her Village President’s role, she notices that A Charming Cure is on file. While insuring the fire is out, a body is found inside.
June is forced out of town and goes back to her old home which she comes to find was not sold as she had thought. To keep up her skills and earn money, she’s back to selling her potions at the Flea Market. She’s also at work trying to figure out who set her up so that she can go back to Whispering Falls.
You will love the charming magic village setting with wonderful spiritualist characters. Each character has magical powers that helps them makes their stores special. I think Tonya must have some magical powers also to make all her books entertaining. Maybe she put a special potion on her books so you don’t wNt to stop reading them! I can’t wait to start the next one.
