This is not your usual dry textbook! I am so glad my professor assigned Counseling and Therapy Skills. I highlighted many insights about the therapeutic process and how to be most effective in helping clients problem-solve. I especially liked Dr. Martin's description of how creating a safe, empathetic space for clients to share their feared thoughts and feelings "takes the curse off" of them. I highly recommend this text.

Another good practical book for counselors about therapy...more so for students than graduates unless they have issues with empathy:)

I'm using this book as a textbook for my master's program in Counseling Psychology. It's a great guide for techniques in therapy--very hands on.

Book was extremely boring so I stopped reading it for a while. Very dense. Hard to comprehend at times even as a therapist.
