About the author

Bruce Johnson has over 30 years of experience teaching children and teens from preschool through high school, as well as to college students and parents. He holds a Master's Degree in Reading Education, and is currently a Reading Specialist with the Merrimack Valley School District in New Hampshire. His popular Guides for Parents series, including Helping Your Child Become Successful in School, have been well received. He is also the author of numerous children's books that seek to increase parent involvement in their children's reading.

I like this We Both Read format, where the adult reads a page and then the kid reads a facing page. This one has photos of real animals (which I'm pretty sure were not taken at the zoo), sometimes with illustrations overlayed, like on the cover.

My animal and zoo loving kids enjoyed this book a lot. We read it on the way to the zoo and then again after our visit.
