The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third of the four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Was published originally serialised in The Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902, it is set largely on Dartmoor in Devon in England's West Country and tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound of supernatural origin. Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson investigate the case. This edition is not a translation at all but a complete re-write of the novel with portions added and omitted and adapted to learn Spanish under Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), Level A1. El sabueso de los Baskerville es la tercera de las cuatro novelas negras escritas por Sir Arthur Conan Doyle que protagonizadas por el detective Sherlock Holmes. Fue publicada originalmente por entregas en The Strand Magazine de agosto 1901-abril 1902, esta ambientada en los paramos de Dartmoor, Devon y cuenta la historia de un intento de asesinato inspirado en la leyenda de un perro temible, diabolico de origen sobrenatural. Sherlock Holmes y su companero el doctor Watson investigan el caso. Me pareció interesante cómo está adaptado un clásico para estudiantes de español; definitivamente voy a leer el original porque lo disfruté muchísimo. A pesar de ser una versión simplificada, mantiene muy bien el misterio. Es fácil de seguir, ameno y perfecto para leer algo ligero.

📚 Lo leí como parte del Reto de Goodreads 2025 (2025 Reading Challenge). Retomé mi ritmo de lectura ya finalizando noviembre, así que estos libros cortitos están salvando mi meta.

Este libro me encantó porque es muy intrigante y juega mucho con el lector. Me parece que puede darte la capacidad de intentar resolver el misterio por si solo. De momento es el libro que más me ha gustado. En este misterio Sherlock y su amigo Watson intentarán resolver la maldición que recae sobre la familia de los Baskerville.

Yo leí eso libro para practicar mi español, cual es muy oxidado. El Sabueso de los Baskervilleayudame mucho. El libro era perfecto para mí: Dificíl, pero no es demasiado dificíl. Ha mejorado mí español? Tal vez. Tardé mí diez y cinco minutos a escribir estas seis frases.

Ah! This is the Sherlock Holmes I like. None of that Benedict Cumberbatch smart-arsery and supercilliousness. Really, I think that the new Sherlock Holmes episodes are too post-modern for their own good.

This Sherlock Holmes only arrives at the end to announce his words of wisdom and solve the mystery in words simple enough for me to follow (even in basic-level Spanish)

You know, I don’t think that I’ve ever read the Hound of the Baskervilles before. Country houses on the moor; mysterious servants and neighbours and an eerie howl that pierces the fog in dark nights. What more could you want?

No me ha gustado mucho este libro debido a que era muy aburrido y aunque el libro no sea de esta eppca ni de este pais el vocabulario en estas nuevas editoriales podria haber sido mas moderno.
