The Way of Holiness: Signposts to Guide Us
And a highway shall be there, and a way,
And it shall be called The way of holiness...
--Isaiah 35:8 There is a way that God has called each of His children to follow. It is the way of holiness. And He is so committed to our walk on this path that He has given us easily identifiable signposts to guide us. The question is whether we will choose to follow them. When you come to the crossroads of spiritual decision, you have a to either heed God's signs and continue day by day on this important way, or to ignore them and muddle through. You may be struggling with sin, wrestling with forgiving someone who has hurt you deeply, or battling with the idea of submitting yourself wholly to God. No matter where you find yourself, denying or ignoring God's directions will leave you immature and ineffective; following them will allow you to handle these situations wisely, obediently, graciously--and victoriously. The Way of Holiness clearly illustrates that each crisis of decision in the Christian life is a turning point. An opportunity to choose God, to express your devotion to Him, and to experience His direction. There are inevitable decisions you will face in your Christian walk. Making biblical choices will free you to enjoy all that God has for you on the way of holiness. "As you therefore have received Christ, so walk in Him." --Colossians 2:6 The subject of holiness is an awesome, yet essential, thing to consider. Awesome because it is beyond our understanding. Essential because to maintain purity and set ourselves apart for God's service alone is the key to spiritual maturity. The only possible way to walk that path of holiness is to be sensitive to God's voice and heed the signposts He has placed at the crucial forks in our road. Each biblical signpost described in these pages entails a crisis of decision--a choice that, if navigated properly, will move you forward in your spiritual journey. Each of those decisions sets the pattern of your Christian life. If you use God's signposts to make your response all that it can and should be, you'll progress steadily toward holiness, victorious living, and increasing Christlikeness even in the face of temptation. And God's purpose for your life will be accomplished in a most magnificent way.

56 books5 followersStephen Olford was born in Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) of missionary parents. His father, an Englishman, was converted through the ministry of R.A. Torrey. His mother, an American from Buffalo, New York, was associated with the evangelistic work of Sister Abigail.
Educated in Britain at St. Luke's College, Mildmay, and the Missionary Training Colony in London, his evangelistic crusades throughout Britain were interrupted in 1939 by the war, when he worked with the troops, and for seven years preached in a Forces Center in South Wales, reaching almost a thousand men a week. After the war, he returned to crusading on a much larger scale in major cities of the British Isles, Canada, and the United States, and was a frequent speaker at Keswick, in England. He held a six-year pastorate in Richmond, Surrey, before coming to New York.
In 1966 Wheaton College conferred upon Stephen Olford the degree of Doctor of Divinity, and Houghton College awarded him the Doctor of Letters degree.

Stephen F. Olford is well known as pastor of New York's Calvary Baptist Church, radio and television preacher, conference and crusade speaker, as well as author of several books and pamphlets. As pastor of Calvary Baptist Church since 1959, Dr. Olford's leadership has led to an expanded radio ministry, "The Calvary Church Hour" being heard each week throughout the Caribbean, Great Britain, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. He has also pioneered a gospel program on television with the weekly "Encounter," which has a potential audience of some twenty-seven million in the New York area. His conference and crusade ministry has taken him around the world.

a great book that shows us that as a believer we need a pattern of holiness in our life's. Stephen shows us from scripture that this is so and expounds bible verses and gives us practical advice on how to put this into practice. At the end of every chapter are self examination questions to show you were you are at and then he shows you scripture to show us the answers as to what is expected from a believer in Christ.
