With Me #4

Dream With Me

Rate this book
There are a few things I, Evie Hart, thought I knew for sure:

1. That I hated Griff Sinclair ever since that night. You know, the night where he totally pulled a Mr. Darcy on me at the dance.

2. That Griff Sinclair hated me. I mean, seriously, would it kill him to smile at me. Just once.

3. That my life plan for post-graduation was golden.

4. That I knew exactly what I wanted.

5. And none of that included Griff.

But everything I thought I knew is thrown out the window by the biggest surprise of my life. All it takes is one touch, one kiss, one night . . . that leads to so much more.

I need to know what Griff means to me, what I mean to him, and what really happened all those years ago. If we even have a future together. And I need to figure it out before we graduate in seven days. Before I move out of Vermont, hundreds of miles away from Griff. I've taken risks, but this might be the biggest gamble of my life.

4 - With love... Anything is possible. Stars!

I wasn’t wholly sure of what to expect from the fourth and final book in Elyssa Patricks’ With Me series. Griffin Sinclair has been the one guy that as a reader you learn very little about in the previous books. Dream With Me gives you his story, and it’s not what I was expecting.

I think the biggest surprise was just how much of a gentleman he was, this is a guy that takes chivalry to the nth degree, and works his charms in his own unique way. The author somehow managed to make the first sexual counter between him and Evie, one of the hottest I have read for a while, without pretty much a word being spoken between the two of them.

"I thought you hated me."

We are given a high speed run through Griff and Evie’s time at Green College, Vermont, with basically their first meeting having a big impact on their years studying, and as fate would have it, in a lot of the same classes. Nothing then happens between them until the week before graduation, throwaway words cause years of animosity, which due to both being late for a graduation event literally means they miss the boat, and in the space of minutes are in each other’s arms.

I liked this girl, but I didn’t know how to tell her. I was sure she hated me and that if I said anything, she wouldn’t believe me.

For the most part I really enjoyed this story, Evie was quirky, refreshing and not afraid to take what she wanted from Griff, sexually and wherever and whenever she wanted. Griff being the Silent type in the previous books, was a bit of a revelation, as well as making a few revelations about himself, his upbringing, and his future aspirations.

"Let’s not focus on the future. Let’s focus on the now."

Although the relationship between the two of them goes at high speed, which is understandable given they only really have a week together, I found myself devouring pages as the time they spent together progressed. The latter stages of the book went a little bit off the rails for me, I kind of expected the reasoning behind their separation to be as it was, it was just the motivation behind it felt a little weak, it could have done with a little more oomph.

"You want it all… And I just can’t give that to you."

But the redemption and reconnecting was sweet, and the author gave me what I wanted in the epilogue as it covered all of the couple from the previous books as well. This series holds strong for me, each and every book has been pretty enjoyable, each couple has faced their own set of challenges and have all had to work their way to happiness. I still hope that at some point the author will give Jack Sinclair a book, as I will not be swayed in my belief that he has a story of his own to be told.

I enjoyed this book. Grif and Evie were really hot together. They had combustible chemistry! They spent 4 years thinking that the other hated them- it seemed a little unrealistic to me that they never tried to clear the air in 4 years especially since they shared a lot of the same classes and saw each other out socially. I guess I just chalk it up to them being crazy college kids! I loved them together and even Grif acting dumb at the end of the book didn't ruin it for me. I wish we had more of Grif's POV than we got at the end and I would have liked a more detailed epilogue.

5++++ You are my Dream Stars
I have been waiting since book 1 for Griff's story! And it was worth the wait. This author's books just gets better with each book in this series.
I enjoyed everything about it. I liked that Evie was a take charge kind of person. I liked Griff's soft/alpha personality. And loved that he was a bit dirty too :-)

Awesome ending to this series. I loved the fact that we got to see how each couple's relationship was moving along!

The reviews have been all over the board on this one. For me, personally, I absolutely loved Dream With Me by Elyssa Patrick. So much so, that I want to go back and read the first three books in the series. Yeah, you read that right. I haven't read them. Which means that yes, this one can fully be read as a standalone.

Dream With Me is written from a first person point of view, and it does have an HEA. It is what I love to term as an enemies to lovers plot. This one had a special twist however, and that is exactly what sucked me in via the synopsis. Our heroine Evie, claims that our hero, Griff, pulls a Mr. Darcy on her at a dance. The thing is, he does! From that point, I was hooked. I wanted to know what happened between these two characters.

From the get-go, the chemistry here is off the charts, and I may even want to note that it's got a high heat rating! It's steamy! The story itself sucks you in, it's well done, well paced and for me, was a total page turner. I didn't put it down until the book was finished.

What you also get from this one, if you've read the first three books... is an extended epilogue. I was a bit thrown off by this, but it was still nice to see, even if I hadn't read their books. You get to find out where -all- of the friends are from this series, plus they show up in this book as well.

I have a very firm 5 stars on this one, and I will be going back to read the rest of the books in this series. I'm also pretty sure I've found a new author whose writing I really enjoy! So, kudos!

"It’s never too late to dream.”

Dream With Me is the fourth book in the With Me series, but can totally be read as a stand-alone. Dream With Me was a quick and easy read for me and is going to be one of those books that you’re either going to love or you’re going to hate. For me, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. I thought it was just ok.

Dream With Me follows the story of Griff and Evie. Their story begins at the start of their freshman year in college. They see one another at a party and sparks fly. Griff can’t take his eyes off of Evie. Evie feels the same way about Griff…..that is until she overhears Griff tell his friend that Evie is hot, but not enough to tempt him. Hearing this only serves to piss Evie off because Griff doesn’t even know her. And so begins their strange relationship. Evie doesn’t understand why Griff always looks like he hates her, but doesn’t let that get her down. Now, they are just a week away from graduation and everything Evie knows is about to change. This one night will take both Evie and Griff by surprise. All it takes is one touch and it’s game over. Everything has changed and now Evie has to know what Griff wants. She leaves in 7 days and is afraid of getting her heart hurt. Will Evie finally find out the truth about Griff? Will Evie and Griff get the HEA they’ve always wanted?

Overall, I thought this book was ok. Dream With Me is fast paced and entertaining. The characters are fun and easy to relate to. I really liked how determined Evie was and how she wasn’t afraid to take chances and go after her dreams. Griff was not at all what I was expecting. I expected him to be a total jerk; especially after how he behaved towards Evie the last few years. But, he really took me by surprise. He was sweet and swoon-worthy, even if he did make some dumb mistakes. I thought Evie and Griff were cute together and had some great chemistry.

However, I did have a few issues with the story. There was a still a little confusion to me as to why Evie and Griff spent so long hating each other. Yes, it does get explained about the incident freshman year, but that doesn’t really explain why Griff spent the next four years looking at Evie like he couldn’t stand her or even being around her. My other issue was the pacing. The fast track of Evie and Griff’s relationship didn’t really work for me; it didn’t feel realistic. I would have liked to have seen Evie and Griff spend a little more time getting to know one another and really build a foundation. My final issue was the epilogue. Here’s why: I enjoyed seeing things wrap up with Evie and Griff, but I wasn’t too keen on seeing the other characters stories wrap up. Now, that might just be because I haven’t read the other books, so I don’t know enough about the other characters, but I just wasn’t feeling it. If you know me, then you know I have a habit of reading books out of order. I do it all the time. And usually when it’s part of a series, the previous characters have enough presence to where I want to know how things worked out for them. But, sadly that just wasn’t the case for me. Maybe I will change my mind if I go back and read the others or maybe I won’t. That is just my opinion.

Even though Dream With Me wasn’t a home run for me, I’m still glad that I checked it out. Yes, I had some issues with the story, but there was some things that I liked and I can definitely appreciate the sweetness of the story. This is my first book by this author and even though it wasn’t exactly a hit for me, I would still be open to checking out more of her books in the future.

So I have really and truly loved this series.....Starting all the way back with Caleb and Hailey and each book for me was just as wonderful as the first, and they have all been solid 5 star ratings......until this one....Now I did enjoy it from start to finish, so don't get me wrong, I just did not love it like the previous books. I cant pin point exactly what was missing for me, but I just did not connect with Griff and Evie like the others.

This story was one of hate to love, and it starts freshman year when Evie overhears Griff saying something not so flattering about her. That spans a hate/hate relationship for them over the 4 years they are in college together. It is a week until graduation when a unexpected chance encounter changes everything for the pair.

Even though this can be read as a stand alone, I highly urge you to read them in sequence as the other couples make appearances throughout the book, and for me they just add to the appeal of the story.....not to mention the awesome Epilogue at the end that features all 4 of our couples.....did I mention that was favorite part....its soooo was!!!

I didn't mind the timeline chapter headings as it did build the necessary vibe the story had going between our two main characters. I took a star off for bizarre ending with "male POV" of characters not hugely part of this story. Weird. Yeah, the whole last 10% of book was weird. Too bad. ARC from NetGalley for honest review.

I love to read about the rare male virgin however this book had some flaws. The writing was pretty good but I'm at the point that when a book is only one pov it just misses the mark. This is especially because him and his issues are the main point of the book. It would have been soooooo much better with his thoughts and emotions. Other things aren't that bad but still flaws. They have one interaction and proceed to "hate" each other for FOUR years. They finally have a moment that includes a few words and then hours of sex. Sex that was miraculous AND his first time, but he reads so.... The fact that we have a sweet hero with a sad past but get so little of him is frustrating. Virgin books are so much better when the virgin aspect is addressed beforehand.. Then an almost accident touches to close to home so he breaks up with her, AFTER having sex with her twice without a condom... that part bothered me. Then we see this devastate her and him acting more aloof. I understand him but at the same time she forgave this slight VERY easily. But he still made a grand gesture. Sex was hot and the book wasn't bad. I am a makeup lover so that part was pretty interesting!

There are other books featuring different characters from this story, this can be read as a standalone. The ending of this book contains an epilogue featuring main characters from the other books too!

Evie Hart first met Griff Sinclair at a college freshman mixer party. Instantly, she was attracted to him but as she approached she hears him say something that tears her apart. Now she hates him. For four years of college, they realize avoiding each other is near impossible since they have the same English major. With Evie’s hatred growing from Griff’s constant glares and remarks, no one would have expected them to hook up. Now Evie has to decide what Griff means to her…

I thought this story was really cute and had some GREAT moments. There are moments when Evie and Griff talk and bare their souls to each other that are absolutely beautiful. (Example: cloud gazing scene). I really enjoyed the heart to heart talks and what Evie and Griff wanted for their futures. They are great characters. Evie is extremely determined and hardworking. She knows what she wants in life and where she wants to go. This makes things very interesting when many of the things she has planned out in her mind do not goes as she thought they would. Griff is also determined and hardworking yet he has a past that is holding him back. His past is heart breaking and really adds many layers to his character. As a reader, we get to see how his past defines him and his relationship with Evie. It’s very interesting.

The chemistry between Evie and Griff is hot! I loved seeing how they reacted to each other. My only issue is that I did feel a bit of a disconnect between them. With Evie’s “hatred” towards Griff in the beginning and the lack of response from Griff, these two did not captivate me from the start. I almost wrote them off as the main couple but I kept reading on…and I am so glad I did! I know that Evie’s immaturity is apparent in the very beginning to help show her growth at the end of this book but it was almost too much for me. I would have wanted less of a “hate” response from Evie and more interactions from Griff to show his interest in her. Griff showing more interest for Evie in the beginning would help to pull the reader in.

Overall, I am very impressed by Elyssa Patrick’s story. There were a few moments that I just had to stop and process because they were so good, rich and heartwarming! Check out this book!

The With Me series by Elyssa Patrick has come to an end. Dream With Me is the fourth and final book. It's one week until graduation. Griff Sinclair has wasted four years pining for a woman that he felt was out of his reach. Rather than reacting in a good, flirty way when he first met Evie Hart, he gave her the impression that she wasn't worth his time or effort. With one week left he has to reveal his heart and true feelings.

Griff Sinclair is a complicated guy. He is the strong, silent type. He's studious and mysterious. At times he can come across as cold hearted. He has been shaped and molded by his young life. He is reluctant to show his feelings. When his heart's desire is on the line, it's time to step up his game.

Evie Hart is a fun, smart , ambitious girl. She is the exact opposite of Griff. She is drawn to the man and hopes that they can come to a truce.

When the truth finally comes out, Evie is in for a shock. Griff is in for the ultimate challenge. Together they make sense. Apart, they are incomplete.

I have enjoyed the With Me Series by Elyssa Patrick. Griff has been a mystery throughout each book in the series. Finally readers are getting his story. It will not disappoint. And no... his brother is not a spy!

I loved the ending because it gave readers a glimpse of each couple in the series after graduation.

Have you ever been attracted to the strong silent type? What if the object of that attraction seems to hate your guts? This is the reality for Evie Hart. Ever since that one dance…..the one where she thought she caught the eye of Griff Sinclair….the confusion only increased. Time and time again, the two found themselves thrust into the same ’space’. Each encounter as stress inducing as the last.

Years of avoidance comes to an explosive halt when the two find themselves face to face after missing a celebration for graduation. Nothing could have prepared them for the explosive way they reacted to one another. The morning brings with it the stark realization that one night was just not enough. With their graduation looming and plans for the future on the line, will Griff and Evie take a chance at finding love?

Dream With Me is the last book in the series by Elyssa Patrick. I have to admit….I wasn’t sure where things were headed with Griff and Evie prior to reading the book. What Patrick gave fans was a sweet story about a not so typical male love interest in today’s times. It was unexpected….but at times predictable. The epilogue was a very nice touch to fill us in on the rest of the characters from the series. It was a nice ‘happily ever after’ rolled into the ending!

I wish this series didn't have to end. Elyssa Patrick is one of the very first authors I reviewed when I started my blog. Her words gripped me and her ability to tell a story enticed me to read each of her other books. The story set up in Dream with Me is one that had a big hurdle to jump. Griff and Evie have "hated" one another for a while, but it's all do to silly miscommunications. When they finally speak and encounter each other outside the hormonal filled halls of their university it's an insta-connection. But they're graduating. Aspiring to be something more and do things with their lives that they didn't factor anyone else into. So can they keep this as benefits only and go their separate ways? Or will their connection be too strong and alter the plans they have carefully laid out?

It is a bittersweet moment when a series you've followed from the get-go ends, but I think Ms. Patrick did it justice. With the right combination of angst, lust, and love Dream with Me is a pleasant and quick read to finish off the series. She stayed true to her characters and I'd love to see a 20 years down the line check in for this crew that has stolen some of my reader heart.

Let me just say that I have total respect for any author even if it isn't exactly one that I personally love I know that someone will most definitely love it. That being said this book just wasn't my cup of tea.

As much as I love a sweet enemies to friends romance I just didn't feel this book. Though I knew the timeline was going to be fast it went a warp speed and I wasn't able to connect with Griff and Evie.

I didn't hurt or feel for them. In fact at some points of this book I was extremely bored. I really wanted to like Griff and though he was sweet and romantic I like my men with a little bit more guts and balls. He was to hesitant for me to get behind.

Evie was a lot more assertive and I loved that she was willing to stand up for herself but the overly long and descriptive inner monologues were draining and really took away from the romance in the story.

Overall I wouldn't say this was a bad book at all. I thought it was really sweet but as I said before this book just wasn't for me.

This is the first book I've read by this author and the hate-to-love aspect was what intrigued me into requesting it since it sounded like a fun premise.

Dream With Me was a very quick, fast-paced read. However, I'm not sure what to make of it. I think I went in expecting more and for me the hate-to-love aspect just fell short. I couldn't understand the characters' reasons or how they could forgive and forget so easily. For me things moved too fast.

Saying that, I could see the potential in the book. The story sets up some interesting themes and character, but I think the author needed to delve deeper to create a connection. I felt she barely scratched the surface with what could have been and things were underdeveloped. I wanted a slower build, a gradual acceptance of each other and spark, and then all of the drama. For me this was a very sharp book that flicked from one thing to another with little explanation. I'm just not sure I bought into it.

Overall Dream with Me was a quick read. It highlights some good potential but for me it needed a little more development.

Dream with me

I wanted for months for this book to come out and I have to say, I was NOT disappointed!!! I couldn't wait to read Griff's story...
The story starts out at a freshman mixer where Griff meets Evie. Instead of just walking up and saying hi, Griff makes a comment hurting Evie and starts a 4 year love/hate relationship between the two... fastfoward til right before graduation... Griff finally talks to Evie and secrets come out.
Will Evie and Griff get into a relationship? Will it last and what happens when Griff acts like a butthead and hurts Evie again... can she forgive him or is she done??
What about the rest of the group?? Is everyone still together? I love how the author doesn't let us forget about everyone else!! I wanna know about the rest of the group.. the good and the bad!!
This book is definitely one you can't put down once you start reading it!!

Oh my where were guys like Griff when I was in college?!

I have not read the previous books that are in the series With Me, but the way that this was written I did not need to. At no point was I confused or felt that I needed info for the other books.

To be attracted to guy for 4 years while he hates you and see him constantly sounds miserable, but lead up to some hot hot sex. Let me say that their first time together was impressive.

Gotta love a guy that reads romance novels, pays attention, and then put what he learned into practice.

The mildly annoying part was the lack of compromise that either character was unwilling to find at first. At times I also thought they may have been overthinking stuff and should have just enjoyed what they had and seen where it would go without having to plan everything out.

I would recommend this others.

I've really enjoyed this series of books. And, with every series, it's natural to wonder whether the writer will be able to keep the next book fresh and different. I can honestly say that this has not been a problem with the "With Me" series of books.

In fact with this, the 4th addition, I think that the writer has nailed it. Sometimes, an author is able to put together a collection of words in a certain order, and the cumulative effect is something quite wonderful, as here.

This is a giddy, at times frustrating, emotion evoking read. I loved the characters and their development throughout the book, not only as individuals, but as a couple, each trying to feel their way through their relationship. And, whilst sometimes, instalove can feel a little forced and unnatural, I felt that for this couple at least, it felt organic.

Evie always thought that Griff hated her. From the first time they met in Freshman year, he has done nothing but gone out of his way to steer clear of her and avoid her at all cost.

So nothing surprises her more than while running to a senior party, she ends up face to face with Griff and sparks fly! The chemistry is explosive, four years of avoidance and pent up hostility comes rushing out and the two find themselves inseparable.

The only thing is, they both graduate in one week. There is a pull, a magnetism that neither can deny. But will they take the one week and hope for the best or is it best just to walk away.

I loved Griff and Evie. All the missed opportunities, all the pain. The two of them together were magical. I think it was the perfect ending to one of my favorite series.

I have been a fan of the series since the very beginning and loved this final installment. I was shocked when the author announced that Kate wasn't go to be Griff's heroine *say what* but I did love Evie and her girls. This was a quick low angst NA read that I would highly recommend to NA readers. What I enjoy about standalone series is being able to catch up with the characters from previous books and the epilogue was perfect. Chapter 2 and 3 can only be described as holy hotness and then chapter 14 I was like whoa, say again. Griff was a very lovable hero just like the rest of the leading men in this series.

I have read every book in this series, and I must tell you, this one might be my favorite!!
I have always wanted Griff Sinclair to have his own book. I have been wondering about him since the first book. (before I even start about the book, I think Jack needs his own book too!!! )

I loved how Evie Hart made Griff feel thinks. I loved her strong will. And I loved how she made him come outside his comfort zone!!

The epilogue... I just about cried my eyes out!! I LOVE HEA!!!
