Well that was an impressive and mind-boggling read!

THE ARCHERON DECEPTION by PATRICK F. ROONEY was a complex and intriguing read that grabbed my attention from the very first chapter and was also extremely hard to put down.

THE COVER didn't come into play on this one as this book was chosen to be read solely on the author gifting this book to me in exchange for an honest review. To be honest I probably would have never considered reading this book as I do not find the cover to be all that appeal

"The Acheron Deception" is a very clever, complex and intriguing well paced thriller involving international conspiracies, organised crime and electronic espionage that include Wall Street and the tragic 9-11 among many other enthralling and intense sub plots. This could easy be made into a blockbuster movie, I imagined every chapter playing out in my head due to the gripping narrative. The many characters are brilliant - true befitting good and bad guys. I loved Sean McGowan and the character h ...more

Rooney’s The Acheron Deception tells a tale of horror or epic proportions that will rival tales of fictional monsters and make them pale in comparison.

Welcome to the age of electronic espionage, where one click of a keyboard can cause a domino

Every so often I love to read a good spy kind of novel. A good novel has to have characters that you can relate to, a story that is believable and the writing shows that research was extensively done. I found all of that and more in The Acheron Deception. Someone is manipulatting the stock markets and due to circumstances beyond control, Sean McGowan, a software engineer who works at a securities company is recruited by the CIA to aid in the investigation to find the terrorists who are planning ...more

The Acheron Deception by Patrick F. Rooney is a riveting thriller that pulls the reader into a scary world filled with spies, organized crime, the securities industry and jihadists. Rooney constructs a story with a multitude of different characters whose backgrounds and stories weave together seamlessly. These multiple story lines lead to a tremendous culminating climax. Undoubtedly a book that will keep the reader turning the page, this book is somewhat like a Tom Clancy novel; it features a fa ...more
