Let me start by saying I am a BIG fan of George Weinstein. He is a local author here in Georgia and has been kind enough to visit our book club to discuss the three books he has written - Hardscrabble Road (LOVED it), The Five Destinies of Carlos Moreno (liked it a LOT) and The Caretaker. Unfortunately, I had other stuff going on at the time of the discussion of this one, and never did start the book. Somehow, it seemed like a good one to go to next, and yes, I liked it. Mr. Weinstein's exquisite writing places you right smack in the center of Sarah and Joe's lives and keeps you there until you know them as well as you know yourself, even though they sometimes don't understand one another as they go through their relationship ups and downs, twists and turns. This novel pulled me through the whole gamut of emotions as I shared failures and triumphs with Sarah as the former ballerina figures out disabled life in spite of her smothering husband. Loved this book. Very smart and current. Interesting characters in an interesting situation. Moves quickly and holds your attention. What more could you want?
