Kyp Finnegan is lost in Chimera after running away from the imposters pretending to be his parents. Chimera is as remarkable as it is dangerous - a fantastical world of lost properties in which bowties evolve into butterflies and abandoned sofas transform into snorting herds of soffalos! With the help of Atticus Weft, a sock-snake with a secret, Kyp must evade the clutches ...more

Almost 2.5 stars but not quite.

This could have been really good. There is a LOT of creativity that shines through in this short story (only 100 pages).

It starts off with Kyp (always loved that name) being dropped off at a store by his not-parents and soon finds himself in a whole new world. Right from the beginning I have so many questions. What are not-parents? was he kidnapped, does he know his real parents, was he adopted are they monsters...? Then it was were is he and why is he chasing aft

Yay this ebook was so good. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest exchange. Thank you NetGalley and Troubador Publishing Ltd.

Okay now for the review. This is a middle grade "novella" it's only 100 pages.

It is about a boy named Kyp Finnegan who finds himself lost. When people and objects find themselves lost, they end up in a world called Chimera. Chimera is ruled by the Oblivion Three which is just a mean lady, Madame Chartreuse and her two henchmen Berserker baby and Tealeaf. The m

This story is about a young boy called Kyp who ends up being drawn into a whole new world where all lost things go to. It is suitable for both adults and children, however, there are some strong horror elements so I would perhaps recommend going through this book to see if it's suitable for your own child, it's personal preference afterall.
I have to say I really enjoyed this story and at only 100 pages

The first of the trilogy by Phil Gomm starts off with Kyp being taken to a used furniture (and etc.) store by his parents. He is upset at his parents. He is upset at the whole world. And soon he is in another world, where terrible creatures are hunting for him, and it is difficult to know who is his friend and who is working with the enemy.

The world Gomm creates is vivid and interesting, and provides some long awaited answers: where the heck are my socks, and that book I swear I put right here o

Kyp finds himself in a world utterly different from his own, with parents who look like his but aren't his.
As he runs away from the Oblivion Three, he finds that he is in the world of Chimera, a place where lost things go. If he wants to escape, he needs to do so before everyone forgets about him. When that happens, his Elsewhere Light will disappear and he will be lost forever, never able to return to his home ever again. It will not

I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say, I really like this book. It’s definitely written for a younger audience, but the idea is pretty cool in terms of a bizarre world where inanimate objects. This book kind of reminded me of Phantom Tollbooth. In fact the two worlds are very similar.

That being said, I found to writing to be just a tad bit dull and the pacing to be a little rushed. Granted this is the first book of a series, but there’s still a bit too

I received a digital copy of this title from the publisher via Netgalley.

Ten Second Synopsis:
Kyp arrives in a world of lost things after his not-parents get rid of him. Meeting a strange assortment of creatures along the way, Kyp must protect his Elsewhere Light and overcome treachery to find his way back to the real world.

This was a fun romp through a unique world that just begs for illustration (or a graphic novel version). I found this story to be an appealing combination of Labyrinth and Att

Though the Chimera books are Fantasy, there’s enough creepy and sinister characters and events to put them in the Children’s Horror category as well, which is why I’m reviewing them for Horror October Fortnight, hosted by Oh, The Books!

Kyp Finnegan, finds himself in Chimera, where all lost things end up, including children. If you’re looking for a comparison, it’s The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland as a nightmare. Everything is out to steal his Elsewhere Light (what will allow him to get back

Chimera is a land where lost things go. Kyp Finnegan is a boy who runs away from people pretending to be his parents and ends in Chimera. The only way to return to elsewhere world is to find the Sanctuary of Saint Anthony, but it's not easy. Kyp has to hide from Oblivion Three and Madame Chartreuse who are determined to capture him for his elsewhere light.
Kyp would be helpless if not for Atticus Weft, sock-snake who helps him against Madame Chartreuse. In

This book had an interesting concept, but felt cliche and I spent so much of it just trying to figure out who was who and how old the characters were and what was going on in general, I really did not enjoy reading the book. I hate leaving these types of reviews, but I'm being honest here. I didn't connect with any of the characters and while I appreciated Gomm's world that he created, I just couldn't get into it. I ashamed to say that I didn't even make it all the way through.

I'm sorry that I c

I found the characters and storyline to be well-developed, but some (if not most) of this story was predictable for adults. I have a son who did enjoy the story and is eager to read the next book. So although this may not appeal to adults too much, my son would give it a 5 star review.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

I wish I could give half stars. this was a 3.5. I'm not saying it was awful, I'm just saying it was beyond predictable. I'm sure a ten year old would enjoy it but it had no real plot twists. I didn't care for the characters. A good children's/YA book although not the best.

I recieved this ebook from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
