Before I even started reading the books in this series I knew the titles and story arc. I knew where Karey was going with this series and was able to be a beta reader for her on the first two books right before they went to print.
I'm one who likes to read blind without even reading book summaries. Knowing where this story line was going made me view these book differently than if I didn't know what was coming next. Thankfully that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying reading these books.
It reminds me of the rare times I have read a book after having seen the movie. I know what is going to happen so I'm not as likely to get emotionally invested when I know how it is going to turn out.
The following might be spoilerish...
Before I started the first book in this series I knew Charlotte wasn't going to end up with Kyle. She is after all the "husband maker" so we needed to see her turn Kyle into someone else's husband. Thus while I really liked Kyle I had no emotional investment into his relationship with Charlotte because I knew he wouldn't end up with her. Someone else reading that book would have seen it through a totally different lens than I did while reading it.
Same thing occurred when I was reading this book. I knew the very basic outline of what was going to happen.
I honestly still prefer reading blind but that didn't stop me from loving this book. I didn't know all the details of how the characters were going to get from point A to point B. Karey writes such likable characters and this book has a great side trip setting in Scotland. I love Charlotte, Flynn, and Angus. Can't wait to see how the unsettled issues finally get resolved in The Wife Maker.

I fell in love with Kyle in Book 1 and was shocked to read the ending. This book picked up about 6 months later. Charlotte still has a broken heart, but is finally ready to move on. She makes a deal with her friend, Aleena--if Aleena will agree to be set up with her best friend, Angus, then Charlotte will call Flynn, the Scottish tourist and offer to show him around. What better way to really get over a broken heart than by match making?
I really don't want to give too much away. I thought this book had some great twists that I didn't see coming. I loved the setting and the characters--strong, sweet, clueless, funny, jerks and all. I'm dying to see how things end up! I think we're in for another ride, but there is a chance this last book in the series could end up the way the reader thinks it will. For me, the ending was a mild cliffhanger, unlike the one in Book 1. Things aren't resolved at all. Another great book in a fun series!

So, this is the second book in this series and if you haven't read the first book, Husband Maker, you really need to before reading this book. They are a "must read in order" series.
I have such mixed emotions about this book just as I did with the first book. I liked it, but I'm in a constant state of frustration with the the main character, Charlotte, and with the how slowly the resolution is in coming. Now, in all fairness, this is totally a personal thing and not a problem with the author or the writing. I just have a hard time being patient with a romance series through three books. It's not like there is world saving or zombie escaping going on in addition to the drama of romance and relationships to distract me from the romantic elements. It's just straight up romantic drama. One book I can handle that way but three? I can already tell you that the third and last book will be my favorite. I'm more than ready to reach a conclusion and get my happily ever after. At least, there better be a happily ever after!! :)

I love it when a novel starts right where it left off. It makes me happy. This one is just six months after Charlotte's break up with Kyle, and it's a little heart wrenching at the beginning.
Charlotte can't decide if she is ready for another stab at dating yet. She and Aleena go out to a restaurant where very little English is spoken, but Charlotte has her secret weapon, Aleena. She can talk to the waiters and order. The table next to them is having a hard time understanding, and Charlotte takes pity on them and has Aleena share her language expertise with them. They strike up a conversation and have a great time.
Flynn, the Scottish hottie from dinner is in the U.S. visiting his brother for a few weeks. Aleena decides it's time for both of them to get back into the dating field. Charlotte decides that she wants to set Aleena up with her best friend Angus, and Aleena gets the phone number of the Scottish hottie from his brother and convinces Charlotte to call him.
Charlotte calls Flynn and she agrees to be his tour guide while he is in the U.S. while his brother works. What to say about Flynn? Yummy, yummy Flynn. He is such a great guy. Charlotte and Flynn hit it off right away, and become quick friends while he is in the U.S.
Aleena and Angus date turns out to be super fantastic as well. Charlotte seems to be happy, Aleena seems to be happy, and Angus seems to be happy.
Then Charlotte and Will's birthday comes along. Seriously my heart exploded...just to be let down again. It's obvious that Charlotte and Angus love each other. Charlotte just doesn't seem to get the drift. She thought all was well with everyone. Flynn and Charlotte had kept contact when he went back to Scotland, and Aleena and Angus seemed to be going strong. Angus finally reveals his true feelings for Charlotte at her birthday party, and Charlotte runs away. Ugh, it was so frustrating on so many levels. Not only because I wanted them to get together, but Angus's timing was horrible.
Charlotte runs away to Scotland to visit Flynn, and things don't quite turn out the way she or Flynn thought they would. When Charlotte returns she decides to tell Angus she loves him.....and then....AND THEN......Angus turns into a turd ;). Okay, not really, but in my mind he did. Although it left me dying to listen to the last book right away.
This love story is so fabulous and frustrating at the same time. When I know a characters loves each other and they cannot seem to get the right timing, it's soooooo frustrating. On the flip side it makes it so I cannot put the book down. Which is fabulous.
This is a great series, and I devoured it.

If you haven't read the first book in this series, The Husband Maker, you might want to read it before you pick up this one so you have all the background. It's not 100% necessary, but it's an amazing book & will set the stage for this one which begins right where the first left off.
Poor Charlotte, she just can't seem to live down her nickname "The Husband Maker". Every guy she dates invariably gets engaged within months of their breakup! Such is the case with Kyle, who she dated in the first book. Now she's trying her hand at match making - playing a bit of cupid's role with her best friends Aleena & Angus. Little does she know the reprecussions of that little foray into matchmaking!
Enter Flynn - a hunky Scot who is visiting his brother in San Francisco and needs someone to play tour guide for him. Who better than Charlotte to fill that roll? Before long it's time for Flynn to head back home to Scotland, but he leaves with an invitation for Charlotte to come visit him in his homeland. She's convinced herself that she's not going to visit him in Scotland when life throws Charlotte a bit of a curveball. Suddenly, she finds herself desparate to get away and she finds herself heading to Scotland and Flynn.
I don't want to spoil this story - it's a wonderful read. Charlotte really takes a serious look at herself and what she wants. I feel that she really grew in this book. Unfortunately, sometimes life doesn't wait for you to figure yourself out. Hopefully she'll be able to work things out in the final book, The Wife Maker. I can't wait for it's release in February!

This review is written to address the story, but will not discuss or reference the story-line as I refuse to risk accidentally giving away a twist. And, twists there are aplenty. It’s one of those books where you feel connected to the female lead, but still feel a tug toward other characters in the book. Well written and constantly moving, this series of books kept me entranced for days.
Definitely worth reading, but you’ll need to budget for all 3 books to finish with a sense of completion and peace.

This is the second book in The Husband Maker series.
I enjoyed the second installment as much as the first one.
For anyone who hasn't read the first one, go read it. This series isn't meant to be read out of order and to get the most out of every book, I highly advise starting with the first one. Be advised that the synopsis and this review will contain spoilers from the first one, since this book immediately follows the first.
So, in the first book, we left Charlotte just as she discovered that Kyle was engaged. Now, after suffering from a major heartache, she tries to get back into the dating game, with a Scottish tourist. It seems pretty harmless as he will only be in the country for a few days. Charlotte also decides to set-up Aleena and Angus, as she feels her two best friends would make a great couple.
I really appreciate the first person narrative. It's different than most books and helps to really understand what is going on in Charlotte's mind and heart. Flynn, the Scottish tourist, was also a new and fun character in the story.
Series when we follow the same characters throughout the books are always the best from my point of view. I like to see how their circumstances change and how they grow in their relationships together.
Now this one did not end so well and I'm really looking forward to reading the third and last book in the series. And I do hope Charlotte finally gets her happily ever after!

The Husband Maker is book 1 in this series by Karey White. I was first introduced to this author by entering a random giveaway on Facebook. I never expect to win anything and out of the blue I got a response that I won an audio copy through Audible. I love listening to books on my ride to work every morning, so I was excited to add it to the playlist. The storyline of The Husband Maker was very unique. Charlotte, is faced with the fact that in recent experiences, those that she has dated, has ended up married, just not to her. Thus the nick name the husband maker.
As we move into today’s feature, book 2 the Match Maker, we find that Charlotte is off again in the world of dating. Just when she thought she may have found the one, she really hasn’t. But because Charlotte is who she is, there is always someone in the shadows waiting to fill that void. This time, it’s the cute Scottish guy, Flynn. Charlotte isn’t really ready to give her heart away again. Or break the heart of another. However, the encouragement that she receives from her friends and family pushes her to reach the unreachable. If only she knew the one she was reaching for may not be the one that will hold her the tightest.
I have to admit. After listening to book 1, I had a good feeling for where this storyline was going. Reading The Match Maker, confirmed that guess. However, the best part of the book is when true love is revealed, even if it does come unexpectedly. The ending of book two no longer makes it so predictable. I’m unsure of where Mrs. White is headed in the last installment. Overall, the rating would be a 3.5, but because she has crafted such a great love story, with such a clean romance approach I had to bump it up. The characters and the events they encounter are truly realistic and set up a storyline that must be followed from the beginning to the end. Will Charlotte find true love? Or has true love found her? - Deitre

This book ends with a big cliffhanger. I personally hate not knowing what I am reading ends this way. If the author will not state about the cliffhanger then I will. Sorry but this spoils the whole story for me. I was enjoying this book until I got to the end and realized nothing was settled.
I had a hard time with the ending, not just with being an open cliffhanger but with the actions and words of the characters. I personally feel that Angus is a big but head and he should have done/said something before he did. Why he waited so long is beyond my understanding.
I will not say much about Charlotte, Angus and the man with an accent. Move on Charlotte, move away and live your life, do not sit around waiting for a man that is too scared to tell you what he thinks.
I recommend for any who enjoy cliffhangers in their romance.

The Match Maker, The Husband Maker book 2
This story picks right up where we left off in book one. But, this adventure is not what I was expecting from book two. I was surprised and pleased that Charlotte finds herself and what she wants and who she really loves. So, Charlotte meets Flynn and they go out a few times. I forgot to mention Flynn is from Scotland. Flynn is a really great guy and is what Charlotte needs to figure things out with. Charlotte also sets up her two best friends, Angus and Aleena. Angus seems to be a bit upset at Charlotte and she can’t figure out why and things are a bit awkward. Will Charlotte loose her two best friends? Will she travel to Scotland to see Flynn? Are her parents worried she is going to leave them? Yes, they are. I loved the purple grandma. She is awesome and one of my favorite parts of the book. My favorite part I can’t share as it will spoil the surprise. But I loved what Angus gives Charlotte when they go in the house. Unforgettable! I got lots of answers to my questions in book one. But I was left with many more at the end of book two. I am not sure I will make it to February for the final book in the series. I hope Charlotte will be able to fix the mess she is in. Ms. White has once again crafted a marvelous read! I would recommend this read!!

Have you ever read a character that you just seriously hated? I thought I had found that character in Macbeth. I mean face it Macbeth, is really stupid. He took that so called prophecy seriously and went on a murder rampage. Then I thought it was The Invisible Man. He burned all of his clothing, including shoes and ID and walked around naked in the middle of January, when it was cold and snowy. Yep, I couldn't think anyone could top him, but now I found it in this book.
Charlie, has major problems. She is so self centered, she can't see what she was doing to her friends. Yes, lots of girls/boys do put men in the "friends" zone, some deserve it some don't. Yes, some girls/boys don't recognize when they are in love. I couldn't help it I really hated Charlie. Charlie, is so obtuse, more than any other character that I have ever read. It made the books so long an horrible to read. She goes half way around the world to "figure-things-out". I don't want to hurt anybody.........yah-da,yah-da, yah-da. Sorry, if your THAT obtuse then yes, someone will get hurt, in this case lots of someones.
Angus, deserves someone better. I know the next book they'll "get-together". He is just to good to her, to good of a guy to put himself through so much.

Yes, some girls/boys don't recognize when they are in love. I couldn't help it I really hated Charlie. Charlie, is so obtuse, more than any other character that I have ever read. It made the books so long an horrible to read. She goes half way around the world to "figure-things-out". I don't want to hurt anybody.........yah-da,yah-da, yah-da. Sorry, if your THAT obtuse then yes, someone will get hurt, in this case lots of someones.
Angus, deserves someone better. I know the next book they'll "get-together". He is just to good to her, to good of a guy to put himself through so much.

As you all know, I wasn't happy with the ending to The Husband Maker, the first book in this series, because of it's abrupt cliffhanger ending. This one, The Match Maker, also has a cliffhanger ending, but I was expecting it this time. While I didn't necessarily like it, because not much is really resolved per se, I knew it was coming and was prepared for it so it made it a little better.
Other than the ending thing, though, I thought this story was really well done. I love this author's style. She does great dialogue, has wonderful characters that make all kinds of mistakes that everyone makes when they're dating, and has the story set partly in San Francisco and Scotland that made me want to visit both places!
I like the growth I'm seeing in the main character, Charlotte, as she figures out her personal life. I loved Flynn and how sweet and patient he is. I could totally imagine his Scottish accent every time he talked! This was a great addition to the series and I'm looking forward to the third and final one so we can get some resolution.

I have been dying to read this book after I fell madly in love with the first one. How I didn't realize it was out sooner is an oversight on my part!
Karey is an amazing writer. Her characters are so real, so fabulous! I have never been in love with so many not-Mr.-Rights in my life! I felt every emotion of every person mentioned in this book. That is something very unique and super cool I think, for that doesn't happen all the time. Usually one person or a couple-hero and heroine, take the story, and the rest of side characters mean something, but not anything too deep. But here I am deeply involved with them all, love them all. Feel for them all!
Even though I know where I wanted the book to go, I am enjoying the journey getting there. And that, for an impatient girl like me, says a lot about the way Karey sucks me into the story.

This is the sequel to the Husband Maker, which was an awesome book. I loved the characters and their dialogue in the first book, and this one is written along the same lines. Charlotte has moved on from her heartbreak in book 1 and has met a handsome Scotsman on vacation in San Francisco. She determines to only be friends, but finds herself intrigued and charmed against her will. When he leaves to head home, he invites her to come visit him and see what could become of their friendship. Meanwhile, she has played matchmaker to her best friends Angus and Aleen. As they become closer, things become awkward between her and Angus. When she is shocked beyond words by a unforeseeable relationship change, she flees to Scotland to meet up with Finn and see where her heart takes her. I figured I knew what was going to happen, but the author surprised me and I ended with my mouth hanging open in shock. There’s another book coming out in spring, and I’m on pins and needles waiting for it now.

So we are closer to seeing how the story ends. At the end of the Husband Maker, Charlotte meets Flynn a man from Scotland who is in San Francisco to see his brother. She ends up playing tour guide to Flynn when his brothers job suddenly changes their deadline. The do all sorts of things together.
Charlotte is still trying to get over Kyle being engaged and we finally learn its to Wyatt, the girl that Angus dated while Charlotte was dating Kyle. Charlotte sets Angus up with her friend Aleena. That's when Angus finds he's had enough. He finally admits his love for Charlotte and gives her a Kiss she won't be forgetting soon. But then they freak out and she runs off to Scotland to visit Flynn and Angus breaks up wit Aleena and takes a job in Kansas City. Charlotte comes home expecting to get serious with Angus only to find that he's leaving. Now what will she do?
Good clean story.

Like several other reviewers, I'm not the cliffhanger type. I want a nice predictable ending where everything is wrapped up in a pretty little package with a bow on top. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to book three. Perhaps I'll get my pretty package then... :)
That being said, I really enjoyed this book. I love Karey's style. I love the characters. I loved the picture that Karey created of the beautiful Isle of Lewis. I think she nailed it. It sure made me homesick for one of my favorite places on earth. (I lived on the Isle for 4 months as a missionary in the 90's.)

I've been waiting for the continuation of Charlotte's story and I was very excited to read this one. There is some sort of progress but also some setbacks that won't be explained until the last book.
The new characters were delightful and I loved the setting of the Isle of Lewis, it definitely made me want to go there.
As usual, the storytelling is engaging and the writing very entertaining.
If you haven't yet, go read book one and then read this one. I'm anticipating a fabulous ending to this series.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?
Poor Charlotte has kept her husband making streak alive. The characters feel real, and it's easy to lose yourself within their story. The Match Maker takes us to Scotland and back and leaves us anxiously awaiting more! It will be impossible to wait until Spring for the next book!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. After finishing The Husband Maker, I was aching to find out what Charlotte's next chapters held and The Match Maker definitely delivered. Karey's writing is always a delight.

I have to say I enjoyed book one the best. I loved the concept of book two but there was just something that held me back a little. This author loves those cliffhangers... I will definitely want to read book number three.

Ahh I loved this book just as much as the first one. It's so humorous and light and fluffy and helloooo this one has a Scottish love interest how can it not be good? Charlotte is just coming off nursing her broken heart of breaking up with Kyle. But it's time for her to move on. What better way to move on than to test the waters with a visiting tourist. No harm there, because nothing more can happen since he'll be going back to Scotland. Right? Except, this is Charlotte. And nothing is ever "just a fling" with Charlotte.
I love Charlotte. She is so fun and cute and easy to relate to and understand. She definitely has a lack of self-confidence because of her dating history. But she also can laugh at herself, and is learning how to move on. I definitely loved how she learned to take some time for herself and figure out what she wanted for her life. (And had the guts to visit Scotland by herself!)
And Flynn was a total sweetheart. I mean, he was a pretty awesome guy. I mean, even though I couldn't see him and Charlotte together in a personal sense, I'm glad she found someone who was willing to just be a friend when she needed one, to see that she was broken inside even when no one else could.
I'm sure everyone that read book 1 was rooting for Charlotte and Angus to get together. (And if you weren't, who are you.) But he was really making me frustrated in this one. ANGUS. GET YO'SELF TOGETHER, SIR. Let's face it, he was really acting like a jerk. And while I can understand where he was coming from, at the same time, I couldn't.
At the risk of spoiling anything, I'm just going to say, this was so cute. It was fun and cute and fluffy. And I loved every bit of it.

Unlike and other series I have read, the Husband Maker Series is a series that should definitely be read in sequence. I would not be far off the mark by saying that this is actually as single novel of some 730 pages with one third of the chapters allocated to separate books. Although the story seems a bit drawn out I am convinced this approach makes the final result much more realistic. Unfortunately, the HEA conclusion will not appear in volumes 1 or 2. I can hardly wait to start reading the final installment where I am confident we will find exactly how Charlotte and Angus reach that desired state.

I am hooked on Charlotte. My heart was breaking for her when she found out Kyle and Wyatt were engaged, the guy she loved and gave up for his political aspirations. I also felt sorry for her when Angus finally revealed he loved her and kissed her, but she set up her best "guy" friend with her best "girl" friend and realized that Angus was the one she should have set her eyes on all the time. Charlotte being Charlotte ran away, but finally realized what she has and decided to fight. Can't wait to finish up the series with the last book.

I had forgotten that I had the box set of these books after I finished the first in the series until I scrolled through my kindle (trying to read more real paper books to lessen my stack of to-reads).
It was great! Picked up six months after the first book ended and Charlotte was ready to date again after a tough break up. She sets her best guy friend up with her best friend Aleena and has her own adventure.
Kind of an abrupt ending, but knowing I had the 3rd book on hand ready to go made it easier.

Another round of characters being mature, who knew this existed in the world of 'chick lit', because I have met some incredibly stupid characters lately. It was obvious in the first book who Charlotte should be with and I fully believe they will work out. They have to, because this is happy-sunshine-everything-works-out-fiction.

The story picks up six months after the first book and this Charlotte is a bit world weary and not as willing to date this time around. I was not very happy with the way the story ended but the next book is already published so I can start the last book right away. It would have killed me to have to wait for the next book to get published.
