Two weeks have passed since Lily became a vampire and things couldn't be worse. She is starving, out of control, and Wolf has vanished. Her maker, Athene, is patient, but fails to help Lily tame the beast within. After Lily's introduction to Society goes horribly wrong, she is sent to train with Griogar, a narcissistic vampire with questionable tactics.
A powerful member of Society, John Genosoa, has secretly arranged for Wolf's mate to return. The distraction works. Wolf and Luna's reunion is passionate, yet laced with memories of insurmountable loss. Even so, neither is able to refuse the animalistic magnetism drawing them together.
When Lily reaches a new low during a session with Griogar, Wolf reappears. She's furious, but vulnerable to his charm and follows him beneath the City. Lily finds out Wolf has spent ages chasing a legendary tale of transcendence and discovers who has been keeping him away.
Lily is forced to put aside her heartache when Genosoa's plan threatens the City's inhabitants. Genosoa's magic is strong, but not strong enough to keep the existence of vampires a secret from humans. He needs souls to sacrifice.
Wolf, Lily and Luna are dispatched by the Keeper and must act fast to stop the killing of innocents. Screams of agony and a scene of destruction greet them, but they are confronted with a much more sinister obstacle and it's too late to turn back. What begins as a battle turns into an all-out war for their very survival.
Ancient histories are told, myths are revealed and dangerous paths are taken in Control , the highly anticipated third installment in the Predator & Prey series by author James D. Horton.
It's not often I get a little lost for words when reviewing but friggin hell James just did a number on me whilst reading Control! Why? Well it's all to do with Wolf, Luna and Lily and FFS I went from shock, hate, pity, sadness and then amazingly feeling slightly understanding of how things were panning out.
It's not often as well a book can perplex me as much as Control has and all because of that vampire of little words; Wolf. I love him, hate him, feel disgust and yet feel understanding. See this man and his beast has me all in a quandary!
Lily, oh my I absolute love this girl! She oozes being the saviour of the city. She's so very deep and so very grown up too. I just love her.
Athene; I am open to my feeling towards Athene, I do wonder at her motives and her objectives in all this. I am very much looking foward to seeing what is behind the 'light'
Luna; I want to hate Luna, yet like Lily I can't and that pisses me off! So I will channel that annoyance towards the author, yes you James! How can you write this into the story, I was gutted and yet totally understood, but man I felt the shits for Lily because of it! And if you take this story between Wolf, Luna and Lily where I think it may/might go then I will actually be so down-hearted about it and I don't think I'll be able to recover.
Your world you have created for your vampire characters, does have a twilighty feel about it ,but very adult and on steriods. Everything works with what you've created. And how you wove this story in Control was very, very well done indeed. This was one of those books that comes full circle, you wonder at why you're reading something and then bam you get the next bit and it all comes together brilliantly.
I had better be on the next tour for sure! I will though definitely keep an eye out for future releases if there isn't going to be a tour, because I wholeheartedly recommend this paranormal read for those who want a bit more with their vampires. It's very well created, written and executed and well worth your time and hard earned money.
I received a copy of Control in return for an honest review. My reviews are my own and are 100% honest.

Athene still seems a little crazy, but there’s definitely something going on with her that will soon have to reveal itself.
Wolf remains the man of little words. His actions speak loudly though. With the return of his mate and the chemistry between them things heat up extremely fast, but at the same time he has these feelings for Lily that he just can’t push aside.
Luna has had so many things torn from her and the line she’s meant to walk isn’t the easiest, but she’s strong and she does the best she can. With her being Wolf’s mate I really wanted to hate the fact that she was back in the picture, but despite my hesitancy I couldn’t help but like her.
Now that Lily has officially become Lynx she’s trying to figure out how to control the beast inside her. For someone who can easily see the beast in others she’s have a difficult time seeing her own. However, others are getting glimpses of her true power and she does not like that one bit. She’ll begin coming into her own gifts and unique is putting it mildly.
I love the Predator & Prey series and cannot wait for it to continue. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I still want to see Lily and Wolf together.
“He may not love me back but I love this man. The man, not the beast. I barely know the man, I know his beast better, but under that I see a man who is loyal, who will do anything to protect those he loves and I know that in his way he loves me.”
My Favorite Moment: There was no better moment than when Lynx meets the Regent at her ball. Now that was one hell of a greeting.
Control, the third book in the Predator and Prey series is an all consuming, in depth look into the internal struggles Lily, now Lynx, faces due to becoming a Vampire. Her mind, body and soul have been transformed into something so foreign. Now she knows how it feels to try and control the wild, raging beast within. Two week in and Lynx is still out of control. Where is Wolf? Why isn't he training her? How can someone who has been so attentive and protective of Lynx dump her like she meant nothing to him? Has he completely abandoned her? The reasons are reveled and Lynx is devastated and so was I. When reading a paranormal love story, I usually find myself having a hard time staying focused on the story-line, but author James D. Horton makes it so easy to stay connected. With his excellent writing skills and his vivid imagination, you find yourself being completely drawn into this world. These are the true signs of an amazing gifted writer.
This is the best paranormal series I've ever read!

Lily’s life has been forever changed by her association with Wolf. She now goes by Lynx and has joined the ranks of the predators in the city by being made a vampire. While she struggles with trying to control her beast, her heightened emotions and her sense of loss over Wolf denying her plans are being made by the most powerful of the Society. Wolf struggles with what has become of Lynx and is thrown back into memories of the past when Luna returns to the city. Luna is Wolf’s mate and her story is one that will leave you in tears and cheer her on when she chooses to fight. The path for these characters is not an easy one. They are trying to find balance between what they are and what they want to be all while fighting the people in Society who would use them against each other and see them fall. Lynx has powers no one has seen the likes of before, which makes her a person of interest to all. Will she be the one to finally not only achieve the peace they all long for but save them as well? How will Luna’s return affect Wolf? Will Wolf be able to do what needs to be done to save them? Another great installment in the Predator & Prey series can’t wait to see what comes next.
In Predator & Prey 3: Control by James D. Horton, Lily is learning to become a vampire. Wolf has abandoned her, left her with her 'maker' Athene, but she is struggling. Wolf is dealing with the return of Luna, the woman he's loved and lost more times then he could possibly count, while still watching over Lily. Meanwhile, vampire 'Society' is brewing dangerously and Lily may be the key to saving them all.
I loved this book! The introduction of the other characters point of view was PERFECT in this book, as it allowed you as the reader to examine how each person maintained control, while still following Lily and Wolf's story mainly. Half the book I hated Wolf... I did. But I get it, and the fact that James D. Horton told the story this way allowed for such a great, believable story, even when set in a supernatural setting. This series is a definite must read, and I truly hope that it continues as I would LOVE to know where Lily goes and how her mission to protect HER city goes!
I really enjoy Horton’s writing. I really enjoy his books. I’d like to strangle him for putting a love triangle into the third book. (>___< I dislike them so much.) However, getting past my gut reaction of ‘arg!’ there, this book does not disappoint. Lynx’s transformation into vampire isn’t easy– she’s got all these new urges, new angers. Her creator is insane, and things are just simply difficult. Not only that but she gets enlisted to help stop a massive attack on innocent people.
I really enjoyed the action, the interactions between all of the characters (despite my dislike of the introduction of Luna, grr), and the overall story.
Once more I’m really interested in seeing what happens next. What will be the consequences for Lynx, Luna, and Wolf’s actions?
Why you should read/get it: You like paranormal romance. You like drama and a bit of angst. You like action. Or you just really like vampires.
5 stars! How does James keep doing this to me? I can't put any of these down! Being a newly made vampire she is supposed to be able to control her 'beast'. Not an easy feat when it comes down to it. How is Lily supposed to control her 'beast' much less feed it? Athene attempts to bring her out to society only to have Lily strike the Regent, who orders that she be given more lessons. During those lessons she learns that she must feed her beast and also learns that not all blood is the same. Wolf, Luna, Lily (Lynx) also learn of someone's plan to murder lots of innocent humans, however his plans are foiled. How? Are they saved? Do they prevent the humans from discovering them? Does Lynx admit her feelings for Wolf, what does Luna think about this? Argh I can't wait to read book 4!
What a roller coaster! This series just keeps getting better and better. Control introduced a lot of new elements to the series, and I was blown away. But I'm totally ready for another story in this series! I won't rest until Lily and Wolf get their happily ever after (or at least a happy for now)!
Lily has went through so many changes since this series started, and it's so fun to watch her story develop. James D. Horton devotes so much to these characters and story, and it really shines through. Paranormal romance fans will flock to this series!

Lily's story forges ahead as her powers continue to grow and unfold. Her circle has increased and includes Luna (have we met her before? ). Lily truly emerges as Lynx; she struggles not to become the monster. She battles her monster for control. Lynx must seek others to aid her to gain control as Wolf has walked away. Her fight to protect the humans has only begun. I look forward q the next book as there are mysteries still to be explained. I received this book for an honest review.
Whew! I really enjoyed this Book 3. Some may complain that the speech about the beast within and its movements was excessive (but it was needed). What this book showcases is the vampire world and how they function, particularly. Also, we are introduced to Luna, Wolf's previous lifemate. As a warning this book is really dark, but it still retains a shining beauty. I feel it was beautifully written.
I'm not sure why but this book wasn't as good as the first two. I skimmed most of the book. After Lily turns, it's all downhill from there. I'll be skipping the last book in this series.
Good book very different and so enjoyable. Thank you for the well written and very imaginative read. You have a wonderfully wicked way with words. The characters were different from other authors which made it even better.
