Nothing but the best with Daigoro and guardian dishing it out to an army of badguys. Authentic Edo atmosphere amidst chills and spills.

Around volume 4, I've found that the plot is somewhat muddled and hard to follow, and I'm not sure if that's the writing or something to do with a lot of historical references that Japanese readers would be more familiar with. In this volume, that somewhat continues in the first section; I'm just not entirely sure what's going on with the whole espionage plot. Furthermore there's some Crying Freeman-esque sexual weirdness going on here which, while not totally out of character for Koike, seems a ...more

Still good, but I hold the original series in such high regard I think I'm almost doing this series an injustice with the comparison. Even though this is good, I'm still getting a "been there, done that" vibe, which is too bad because on its own this is pretty good stuff.

Kazuo Koike (小池 一夫, Koike Kazuo) is a prolific Japanese manga writer, novelist and entrepreneur.

Early in Koike's career, he studied under Golgo 13 creator Takao Saito and served as a writer on the series.
