The Nutcracker Bride is the second book in the 12 Brides of Christmas series, but they are not connected to each other except in theme, so you can read them in any order you choose (me being me, I have to read them in order). This series of short story/novellas features the stories of love/courtship/marriage for one woman during the Christmas season. From what I have read so far (4 books) they appear to all be sent in the American western frontier in the late 1800s – a relatively new setting for ...more

I absolutely loved reading this! I couldn’t put it down. Chad and Lucy are thrown together in a most unique way that makes you smile and laugh at their banter. I always love reading the books from authors who put dry humor into their characters and story. The danger lurking, the hardships of taking care of an aging grandfather, keeping up with chores and baking, all the while having an injured Ranger in your house make for an engaging story. Lucy had given up her dreams of ever finding a man and ...more

A ranger shows up at her place, startled her and she shoots him by accident. She ends up taking care of him and then he helps her after he gets better. An adorable novella in the 12 Brides of Christmas collection from Barbour Publishing, this fun story has two great main characters, an outlaw gang, a blizzard, nutcrackers, Christmas cookies, and a winter romance! Short enough to read in one sitting, lunch break, or work commute yet entertaining enough to make you laugh and your heart smile! I really enjoyed this one!

So far The Nutcracker Bride is my favorite out of the series. This story is driven by a clean romance with a dash of family and a sprinkle of the Wild West themes.

Great novella!
The Nutcracker Bride is the second novella in Barbour Publishing’s 12 Brides of Christmas series. If you read my review for the first book, then you know I wasn’t a huge fan of it. I’m happy to say that this one is great!
Margaret Brownley is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. Her books always make me laugh and smile, while also imparting some important spiritual truth. They take me back in time to a life so far removed from our modern one. I loved the historical details

This was a beautiful story about Lucy Langdon who during the time of 1880, while picking walnuts hears several horses approaching at a fast pace and one of the riders throws something in her wagon. Lucy finding something totally unexpected in the wagon, money, and lots of it, is not sure what to do about it. The cold December day does not make reporting this incident to the local authorities easy for her, especially while having to take care of her aged grandfather.

Her German grandfather, whom

Lucy Langdon was a force to be reckoned with; with her eyes the color of Texas blue bonnets and her hair like shiny copper. At least, Texas Ranger Chad Prescott thought so, especially when she plugged him with a bullet from her shotgun; after all, he scared her out of her wits!

Lucy Langdon is horrified when she finds a gunnysack full of cash in the bed of her wagon. She has a feeling it came from a handsome rider on a black horse being chased by outlaws. When before mentioned rider shows up at L

The second addition to the 12 Brides of Christmas, The Nutcracker Bride by Margaret Brownley was such a fun read. After returning to her grandfather's farm, she discovers a bag stuffed with cash. Soon Texas Ranger, Chad Prescott, returns for his hidden stash to find himself shot by a nervous Lucy. I was not ready for this book to end! I wanted to get to know the characters more and wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Brownley did a wonderful job making me love the characters! The Nutcracker Bride is a sweet story about how one little event can change your entire life. For Lucy and Chad that event was when he threw a bag in her wagon before riding away. When Chad returns for the bag Lucy shoots him thinking he is someone else. Lucy feels horrible and now must nurse him back to health. Love sneaks ...more

Margaret Brownley's The Nutcracker Bride is full of humor and delicious flirtation and romance.

When Texas Ranger Chad Prescott tracks down Lucy Langdon to recover the gunnysack of money he'd tossed into her wagon for safekeeping, he certainly didn't expect her to shoot him! Waking up to a house full of German nutcrackers doesn't do much to ease his anxiety over the situation either, but until he's recovered - and finds that money - he's stuck with them. And with Lucy. Although that last part is

Cozy romance!

I really enjoyed this sweet short story, I wish it had been longer. I loved the setting, a cozy cabin during a winter storm. And of course, being over Christmas made it all the more charming. Lucy takes care of her ailing grandfather and runs a bakery from her home. I wish I could have stepped into the pages and tried some of her yummy treats. Then one day her life is shaken up when Chad Prescott enters her life with a bang! I thought they had a fun relationship and the romance was

This is a delightful Christmas short story. While the second book in a twelve book series, it does stand alone as a separate story.

This book was humorous and sweet. Lucy and Chad meet under the most extreme circumstances. Lucy a lone woman taking care of her sick grandfather shoots a man she finds snooping around her property. Chad is searching for something while on the trail of bank robbers and needs a place to hole up now that he’s been shot.

The story of Lucy and Chad goes to show you that lo

The Nutcracker Bride is a delight

The Nutcracker Bride is a delightful Christmas novella brought to us by the wonderful Margaret Brownley. It's been a little bit since I've read one of Margaret's books and so it was fun for me to read this one because it reminded me of her fun sense of humor. Lucy has just that right amount of spunk while Chad just that perfect touch of rough around the edges meets really great guy. A fun Christmas romance you're sure to enjoy!

This was such an interesting story. A Texas Ranger shows up at your door and you shoot him??? Between taking care of an elderly grandfather who once carved Nutcrackers, a baking service for area towns people, a recovering Ranger, and a blizzard all just before Christmas... Well, there was enough action to keep me turning the pages! A delightful story I'll read again before Christmas! Thanks to Barbour Publishing for a copy to review for my honest opinion.

Fun Christmas story about a ranger chasing outlaws and running into a young lady who bakes goodies and cares for her aged grandfather. When he leaves the stolen loot with her, he has to come back for it. Meanwhile, she's hidden it and won't admit to having found it. There might have been an accidental bullet find him when he showed up too.

This story was really good but not as good as the last one I read in this series. I thought the story moved really well and wasn't nearly as choppy as the last one I read through. It was really smooth and the characters were believable but both the story and the characters needed to be developed a little more maybe in a longer story if the author couldn't fit it in a short novella.

This was a great second story in The 12 Brides of Christmas. I loved how they bring in the nutcracker bride. That is a beautiful part to the story. I received the ebook for a fair and honest opinion from Barbour publishers.

short n sweet story. Not nice to have been shot and recovering from a bullet wound but the difficulty of having a wandering grandpa must have been exhausting work. (even I wanted to tie him to a chair at times)A German tale about the Nutcracker Bride was interesting.

This is a very enjoyable short story. I enjoyed the unexpectedness of several turns in the plot, and felt that the heroine's care for her grandfather was really sweet.
