After identifying her employer's dangerous enemies, Jessica Jakes takes refuge at the compound of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. Fellow Hard Ink tattooist and Raven leader Ike Young promises to keep Jess safe for as long as it takes, which would be perfect if his close, personal, round-the-clock protection didn't make it so hard to hide just how much she wants him—and a ...more

5 - "You're a little pain in my ass." Stars!

Another absolutely stellar read from Laura Kaye. This novella transitions us from the Hard Ink series in that it gives you the story of what happens to, and between Jess and Ike, after he takes her away from the rest of the group in Baltimore because of the threat to her life, and introduces us to the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club, when they end up staying at the compound.

There is no messing with this one, the chemistry between Jess and Ike, is combusti

Holy hot damn!! This novella was hella interesting and hella sexy. If this was just a taste of what Laura Kaye has to offer, sign me up!!

Jess and Ike have been best friends for four years. Due to some behind-the-scenes drama, we're immediately thrust into a story about Jess having to hid out from some bad guys and Ike's tasked with protecting her. It was soon obvious that these two wanted each other real bad. However, a traumatic even from Ike's past has left him hesitant to start anything with

He wished the light was on so he could see her, but maybe the darkness was better. It made it feel more like the dream he’d thought it was.

I’m a Hard Ink fan and over the course of the series, I’ve gotten gaga over those men and the people that surrounded them. Even at the start, Jess and Ike had this tension between them that had intrigue me and wished for something for them. And now, wish granted. Ta da! Four stars for this hot treat! Fans of the Hard Ink series have been waiting to see what Ike and Jessica got up to after they fled Baltimore on his bike in the wake of mayhem and tragedy at Hard Ink. A 100-page crossover novella, Hard As Steel closes out the Hard Ink Series and gives us new insight into the lives of the Raven Riders MC.

I love this series by Laura Kaye and I was delighted to pick up this shorter story about Ike from Raven Riders and Jess. These two should be together , they fit so well. Jess has wanted Ike for a long time but he keeps her at arms length, then they are forced together so that he can keep her safe from the danger that lurks.

The dynamic between these two is really well written. Their connection is passionate and intense. The secondary characters are weaved beautifully into the story -
Jess and Ike were hot.

Hard as Steel flew by. I mean.. it had bikers so it wasn't that hard to get into it. These two were not looking for a relationship but they definitely found one - with each other. They were cute and adorable but things got steamy when they were just by themselves. I was so proud of them getting out of the friend-zone because I would've been so mad if they didn't. This one was a lot of fun to read and can't wait for the next biker romance.

This was so awesome! Love, love, loved it! This was a full story that really packed a punch. It was full of emotion, intensity, and heat.

Ike and Jessica are wonderful characters and I loved getting to know them and about their pasts. They have fantastic chemistry together. There was so much sexual tension and animosity, it was great. I couldn't get enough. I love Ike and Jessica opening up and coming together and seeing those sweet and vulnerable moments between the two. Love their attraction an

LOVED this one!

Ike was smoking, and it was a nice change of pace to read about a heroine who wasn't shy about getting around. I could have done with a bit less pushing away by Ike, but it was still a really good read!

I really love this series.

If you are a fan of Laura Kaye's Hard Ink stories, you will not be disappointed. You will recognize Jessica and Ike. They both work for Jeremy and are beloved like family. Ike is also the a member of the Raven Riders Motorcycle club. When Nick and the rest of gang get in over their heads, Ike offers help from the MC.

One of the things I like most about this story is that Ike and Jessica have an established relationship. In too many cases with novellas, insta-love abounds. However as c
This book had rough sex AND all of the ooey gooey declarations of love a girl could ask for (although it was unnecessarily cruel to tease me with the idea of ball gags and never follow through, Ms. Kaye... *side eye*). I DID think that the whole biker gang aspect to the story was a little soft, though.

I had NO interest in a motorcycle club romance but after seeing this Raven Riders series come up over and over in recommendation lists for good romance. This is a prequel (0.5) to the actual series and I really enjoyed this one so much more than I'd expected. Looking forward to continuing with the series. ...more
It pains me to give this novella such a low rating. My loyalty & respect for author Laura Kaye are the ONLY things propping up my 2-star rating; otherwise, I'd have given this novella the 1 star that it truly deserves. And just for the record, I LOVE author Laura Kaye. (I've purchased nearly every book that she's ever published). I also have mad love for the Hard Ink series, & thus, I had such high hopes for this installment, featuring Ike Young & Jessica Jakes.

This is a filthy friends-to-fucking novella that had me scrambling around for my vibrator. Holy shit. Ike and Jessica’s chemistry is like another character lurking in the background waiting to be introduced. And when it is…oh.my.god. There was one scene that I went back and read again. And then again. Because, fuck. That was hot.

This story is happening at the same time as the one in Hard To Let Go and I adored seeing this piece from Jessica and Ike’s perspective. This love story might be short,

Not only is this book HOT...it's so HOT that I had to read it twice...just to make sure that I measured the hotness correctly! Ike and Jess not only have such explosive chemistry, I swear their clothes just fall off the moment their eyes meet, but Laura keeps the "friendship" alive with super fun banter and sexual innuendos (that us dirty minded people will say "I totally would have said that too).

For such a short read, Laura sure packs a punch, jumping right into the story, and giving a realist

Hard As Steel was a crossover between Laura Kaye’s Hard Ink series and her new Raven Riders series.

Ike Young was a tattoo artist at Hard Ink. He was also a patched member of the Raven Riders MC. He was gorgeous, rough, protective and all alpha. We know he had a past, but until now it’s yet to unfold.

Jessica Jakes was also an employee of Hard Ink. She was fully tatted, sassy, independent and sexy. She was best friends with Ike but had secretly crushed on him for years, never wanting to mess with

I'm a huge fan of Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series so when I found out she was writing a spin off about the Raven Riders MC I was thrilled. Hard as Steel is a crossover novel that bridges the two series and gives us the chance to meet some more of the Raven Riders characters. We've already met both of the main characters, Jess and Ike, in the Hard Ink novels and timeline of this novella is during Hard to Let Go so will contain spoilers for that book if you haven't already read it.

Hard As Steel is the newest work from author Laura Kaye and is part of the 1,001 Dark Nights 2015 line-up as well as a cross-over of Ms. Kaye’s Hard Ink Series and her Raven Riders Series. I am a huge fan of Ms. Kaye’s and when I tell you I devoured this story, that would be a gross understatement. I couldn’t put it down! It was phenomenal. Filled with suspense and scorching heat, it was just amazing.

I remember in the Hard Ink novels when Ike whisked Jess away to hide her out after her house was ransacked. I remember knowing that there was something there between them, and being intrigued by that. Now we have their story.

Ike is an intriguing guy. He's a tattoo artist at Hard Ink. He's an important member of a motorcycle club. He's an all around heroic bad ass biker guy. And, he's got baggage from his past that has prevented him from acting on his interest in his co-worker, Jess, for years.

Laura Kaye is one of a few authors that I will 1-click, no questions asked. I love her Stubborn alpha males and Ike Young is just that, a stubborn, sexy, hulk of a man who rides a motor bike? What's not to like? The truth of that is absolutely nothing, he's perfect. Then we have adorable Jessica Jakes who is in danger because of the people she knows (the super hot Hard Ink guys). Caught in the crossfire between her employers and their enemies, her 'friend' Ike takes her away to keep her safe. Un ...more

While novellas aren’t my preferred choice when it comes to book-length, Laura Kaye has previously proven herself to be more than capable if packing a well-rounded story, complete with emotions, conflict, and romance, into an abbreviated amount of time. While Hard As Steel is a crossover novella between the author’s Hard Ink series and her upcoming MC series, Raven Riders, the story stands on its own, following the between protagonists, Ike Young and Jessica Jakes. You must remember Ike and Jess who work at Hard Ink Tattoo, right? Well, they had to run halfway through the series as Jess’s place was ransacked by the bad guys who wanted info from her on the SF team. Ike is responsible to her, and as it turns out in this novella, the

I CANNOT get enough of Laura Kaye's Hard Ink Men! All of them are alpha males to their core, but there is also a softer side of them...maybe even a tormented side due to circumstances beyond their control, and Ike Young, Kaye’s newest Hard Ink man seems to be weighed down with a past that won’t release him from moving on and enjoying more than living half a life. But if there’s one thing that Kaye has proven to her readers, it’s that her heroines are more than willing to battle their men’s demon ...more

I loved it!! The only reason it's 4, not 5 stars is because I wanted more! Just as it was really getting good, it was over. I'm hoping to see more of Ike and Jess in the upcoming "Raven Riders MC" series.

Ike and Jess are simply PERFECT for each other. He is bad ass and protective and she is sweet and wild. She may look like a tattooed wild child- which she is- but she has such a tender spirit. I loved her! And these two burn up the sheets, let me tell you! Ike is a dirty talker, and

I read this book after Hard Ever After because I couldn't let the men of Hard Ink go. This novella opens the doors to a spin off series for the Raven MC that's mentioned in the last few Hard Ink books. I have got to say that Laura Kaye definitely delivered and brought up the heat factor with this novella.
Most of the Hard Ink series has some naughty talkers and sexy times but this novella brought the grit that comes with MC romances. With the other books we don't really get

Get read for another wild ride….a glimpse into the attraction between Ike and Jessica. Both fled Baltimore when the attack occurred at Hard Ink. As they ‘make tracks’ on the back of Ike’s bike, the duo find themselves fighting an obvious attraction. Something that revs up like the roar of Ike’s motorcycle. Burning up everything in their path. This is the first time I've read one of the 1001 Dark Nights books, but I'm no stranger to the Hard Ink series. This story overlapped the events of a couple of those books, so really should not be read without having read that series first. This story wasn't bad, but the characterization was a bit off for me. I really began to hate Ike and how he kept pushing Jess away, and yet wanting to have sex with her at nearly every opportunity. We really didn't get too deep with Jess, other than her love ...more

“Jess pushed herself up to sit next to him. "In case you didn't get the memo, it' s my turn to take care of you right now." Ike dropped his face into his hands on a groan, and Jess's cool hand massages his neck. "Oh, my God. You're so hot."

He chuffed out a small laugh. "Why, thank you."

Jess Chuckled. "You realize you don't have to fish for compliments, right? Not from me. Because I will straight-up tell you that the sight of your Ravens tat stretched over all these muscles gives me a lady boner." Her fingers traced the design across his shoulder blades - a spread-winged raven perches on the hilt of a dagger sunk into the eye socket of a skull. The block letters of the club's name arched over the menacing black bird.

He threw her some major side-eye. "I know I'm sick because the perverted part of my brain just heard you say my ink gives you a lady boner.”
“They’d been sitting on the couch for a few hours trying to find something to watch. Cop and military type shows were out—too much like real life. The Walking Dead marathon was out, because people you liked always died on that show—too much like what they feared life might become. Ike had suggested the World Series of Poker, but Jess thought watching people play cards was boring. She’d suggested a dancing reality show, but Ike put the kibosh on that idea with a single look. Ike’s desire to put off sleeping alone again had him finally agreeing to a house hunting show Jess liked where the couple saw three houses and had to decide which to buy. Ike’s conclusion: people were idiots sometimes. “Should’ve picked the older house. More character,” he said. “Right?” Jess said, smiling. “You can fix up an older house, but it’s harder to give a newer house that kind of character.” “I knew I liked you for a reason,” he said, giving her a wink. “Because I’m awesome.” She turned toward him on the couch and propped her elbow on the back of the couch.” 1 likes
