I had thought my return to this series would be as easy as falling back in a friendly old dream, as effortless as curtains parting and meeting again on either side of an opera performance, a lever being pulled, one set whisked to the rafters and another dropped to the stage.

Yet, when I finished reading Darkdawn, I found myself moved by two contrary currents: my love for this series, appearing in the fragile wisp of my memory very much like its bright old self, and the realizationlike a shock of

Damn... it's over. I'm going to need some time to process this...

(4.5) I think the last book of the series will divide the fans. For my part I enjoyed it!

Questions are finally answered, the characters continue to grow and to bring laughter and tears.
The magic system is so interesting and original and I hope there will be more books in that universe.

Can't wait to discuss this one in details soon with everyone!

Oh, and gotta love Kristoff making fun of his own writing!

O, gentlefriends it has taken me a while to gather my thoughts on this one.

I am a daughter of the dark between the stars, she replied. I am the thought that wakes the bastards of this world sweating in the nevernight. I am the vengeance of every orphaned daughter, every murdered mother, every bastard son. Mia leaned forward and looked the man in the eye. I am the war you cannot win.

As some of you will notice, I changed my rating from 4 stars to 3.

Ogentlefriends, Darkdawn concluded The Nevernight Chronicle trilogy on a bloody high note, and its not implausible for me to say that this has become my favorite book in the series.

"Don't fuck with librarians, young lady. We know the power of words."

Each installment within the series can be classified as Mias journey throughout her life; Nevernight as Mias book of birth, Godsgrave as Mias book of life, and Darkdawn as Mias book death. Dont worry, if youre reading this without any knowledge

well, gentlefriends, how devastatingly mias story finally ends.
with it ruining me very gently, and then ruining me very hard.

but each page was worth the release date being pushed back a year,
the countless tears i shed for tric,
the cunning brutality of kristoffs writing,
the longing i felt for mias revenge,
and the acceptance of knowing this is the ending i got, even if its not quite the one i wanted.

and so finally, as i close the cover, this story
steps into
the shadows

Darkdawn was the dramatic conclusion to the Nevernight trilogy full of humour, murderous angst and the indomitable sass of Mia Corvere.

Plot: 4/5
Characters: 5/5
Writing: 5/5

In this book, Mia continued her journey to revenge while also discovering more about darkin lore and the mysterious Crown of the Moon. Mia came a long way in this book, even more than in Nevernight and Godsgrave as she finally discovered the truth about herself and accepted the path laid out for her. She realised her life

Fear has its uses, he replied. Fear is what keeps the dark from devouring you. Fear is what stops you joining a game you cannot hope to win.

🌟 So people saw my 3 stars rating on GR and were wondering and O, friends, it is time to give you all the answer and let me remind you of a few things, my rating for books 1 and 2 was 5 stars (book 2 felt more like a 4 but I can be generous sometimes). No one was

Unpopular opinion time.

I have never been less into a relationship than I was in this book. Ashlinn Jarnheim you know what you did and this reader can never forgive you. Therefor for most of this book I teetered between boredom and impatience to pick up the pace and get to where we are going.

As my good friend Eon said. "I want to smother that romance in darkness and feed it to the MaW!" Good call sir, good call.

When all is blood, blood is all

And when one of your favourite series reaches its inevitable end, all is bittersweet. Goodbye, Mia Corvere. Thanks for the anarchy.

so. darkdawn. the final book in my favorite series. the long awaited death of mis corvere. how do i review a book this important to me? i cant put my feelings into words, but for the sake of this arc i'll try.

i have to say, this entire series has an imprint in my soul. back in 2017, when i read nevernight for the first time, i fell in love. with the world, with mister kindly, with mia, with the unapologetic brutality, heart and life mia corvere has. i've always said how i feel like this series

You never miss your shadow until youre lost in the dark.

So I dont even know where to start this review as Im just so sad that my journey with Mia has ended. I feel like I have been punched in the gut and now I dont know what to do as the series has ended. But it ended spectacularly and now I am just sitting here contemplating the end of the series.

In this book things are coming to the great finale. Mia makes her own discoveries and old and new characters from the books

Ooooh, boy. I see not everyone was happy with the ending.

I was actually ok with Ashlinn and Mia as a couple. Sure, I missed Tric and thought that he was an all-around better human being than Ashlinn. But...ok.

This is not a review. This is a heartbroken goodbye. I have loved this trilogy even more than I thought possible. My love for Mia is boundless. Her story? Well, that's something I'll be coming back to every now again. I will need to visit her and her merry band of misfits. To Jay Kristoff, all I can say is kudos! Best effing series I've read in a very long time. Also, where's Jonnen's tale? Surely He also has a story to tell!
Originally gave it 1.5⭐ but the more I think about it (Id give anything to never think about this book ever again) the angrier I get and think that 1.5 stars is WAYYYY generous for the utter shitstorm that was this book.
If I could, I wouldve rated it lower.

JK took the absolute shit out of his readers.
This joke of a book was an insult to readers and fans alike. Obviously, Im not a fan anymore. It ruined the entire series for me.

I hated it with a burning,

Considering how much I loved the first two books, it's only natural that this makes my list of most anticipated releases this year.

I can't wait to see how it all ends.

I'm gonna read this soon because reading the reviews is making me actually *want* to get my heart destroyed in the way only Jay Kristoff can do it. Ever since reading the Lotus Wars trilogy, I have come to expect nothing but the *opposite* of what you think you want in his books. No one is safe, the relationships are dark, you will never get the expected HEA. If you can accept this right at the start, you will probably enjoy his books more.
