What I Thought:

I loved every moment of this book! I found myself pulled in from the moment I started it. The first pages already showed action, a love possibility and a strong female character.

The world Dani-Lyn Alaexander has created is beautiful. It is, in so many ways, similar to ours, but is so very different. I found that she really caught my attention with her choice of plot - the death of a world, which can be saved by another. Yes, this sounds like a very overused plot, but Dani has tak

Reluctant Prince (Kingdom of Cymmera #1) by Dani-Lyn Alexander Ryleigh Donnovan is left to raise her younger sister after her grandmother’s death. She is confronted by, Jackson Maynard, a Death Dealer from the Kingdom of Cymmera, that was sent to procure her.
It took me a couple of chapters to get into the story. After that, this is a book that gets more exciting as you continue to read it.
Ryleigh is a compelling heroine. I like that she does not buy into things easily and needs to be convinced

Wow, what a book! I just finished it and my heart is still racing! Once the action started, it just kept building and building, until I was completely swept away! It was one of those books where it suddenly reached the end and you're saying out loud,"No!" I really wish it hadn't ended when it did, cuz it left me with questions I wanted answered right now! Guess I have to wait and get the next book and I WILL be doing so! I adored this fantasy action love story. The main characters and many of th ...more

My Thoughts:

Ever since I first saw the cover to this novel, I knew it was right up my alley. I know they say you shouldn't ever judge a book by its' cover, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't do it all the time. I'm actually a pretty shallow book blogger. If I hate your cover, you have a REALLY slim chance of getting a great review out o

A great novel for fantasy lovers everywhere. As an independent reviewer for Paranormal Books and Authors that Rock, I thoroughly enjoyed the world created by this author. Her fight scenes are exhilarating, her characters are real, and the twists and turns of the plot kept me reading straight to the very end. A book that would be perfect for any age, this is one that will be on my shelf to read to my grandchildren as they grow to love magic worlds the way their parents and I already do! Definitel ...more

The Reluctant Prince was a short and sweet YA fantasy story that I greatly enjoyed. When we first begin, we see Ryleigh and her sister Mia trying to figure out what to do in life and how to make ends meet after the death of their grandmother. Ryleigh is 17 and is trying to care for her sister, keeping them off the radar of child services so they can make it together till she is 18, old enough to be her sister’s legal guardian. When Ryleigh goes to an interview in hopes of finding a job to suppor ...more

I'm not usually a huge Fantasy fan, but this book kind of made me curious. And when I read it, wow, as I got deeper into the book I started to wish for more and more. When it ended, I'm just like no, I need more!

At first it took me a while to connect with the characters. I empathized with them and whatnot but I didn't actually feel that connection that sometimes you just get with certain characters. But as I got deeper and deeper in

For some reason it took me longer to read this book. I think part of it was because I was ok stopping which is rare.

This book was very fast-paced. The storyline kept moving and moving. I liked it though because it was different than a lot of other books that I liked.

I really liked how Ryleigh was spelt. Also there wasn’t a lot of freaking out on her end about the situation. I hate the required 10-page freak out about the situation. I really appreciated the relationship that she has with her si

It took me a little while to warm up to Ryleigh. I can't quite put my finger on why... but she just wasn't very interesting to me. As the story went on I was more drawn into her. She was just your average 17 year old girl thrown into a crazy situation. First... having lost her parents early, and then losing her grandmother, and trying to figure out how to hold onto her sister until she can legally be her guardian. Talk about having to grow up quickly. Then... on top of that to suddenly be sucked ...more

I haven't read book 1 in this series, but it doesn't matter. This book fully stands on it's own. It's geared towards YA but is a fantastic read for all ages! This book was so well written that I forgot it was for younger audiences. The characters are well written. The plot is fantastic. This fantasy book will have you living in Cymmera. ARC received from the publisher.

This was a great read. I was hooked from the start with the action and intrigue. Reluctant Prince reminded me of a very toned down version of Elizabeth Norton's Eternal Guardian's series (which I loved). The romance was sweet but not overbearing. There was plenty of action so boredom was not an issue at all. And, there were dragons! Loved that tidbit in the book.

I was in the cover reveal for Reluctant Prince, so when the blog tour came up, I decided to give it a go. However, RP wasn't what I expected and I didn't end up putting my review in the tour. I still participated though :)

Though I liked the idea for Reluctant Prince and I thought it had a lot of potential, it ultimately fell flat for me. There were just too many issues for me to really enjoy the book and I ended up not liking it.

The part that kept me reading was that I really did like the idea of an alternate world that was at war and rife with secrets and betrayal. That curiosity was enough to keep me going but not enough to really make the book.

There were a few problems with the book that brought it down.
The Reluctant Prince starts right away with nonstop action. One after the other, something is always happening.

Ryleigh Donnovan has gone through so much. The loss of her parents, now her grandma and her home. She'll do anything to protect her sister and keep them from being separated and put into foster care. She thinks things can't get any worse than they already are. But things do while she's in a job interview and meets Jackson. During a mission to kill and bring back a girl from a vision

I thought this was a pretty good book with an interesting story to it. Dying kingdoms, powerful royalty, dragons and array of possible things to do there.

Her whole life changes one day while she's at an interview. An earthquake strikes and she has no idea that it was caused in order to get her. Which doesn't happ

This was definitely one of the most unique and exciting plots I’ve gotten to read, so I really enjoyed that aspect. I won’t give away any details because it’s hard to without spoiling something awesome, but trust me here. Dani Lyn Alexander did a stellar job of creating this world and pulling the reader in. The action starts in chapter one and keep up a nice pace. It’s a pretty short novel and quick read but well done. I never fel

From my review on Amazon:

Reluctant Prince by Dani-Lyn Alexander is a YA fantasy set in the Kingdom of Cymmera. Immediately in the first chapter you are thrust into an action packed scene that left me breathless.

The story is fairly quick paced and is told in a little less than 200 pages. In general, I am a romance reader, and although this story had some romantic hints / elements, it really is a paranormal fantasy. I love how the back story was incorporated into the tale without ever feeling like

Reluctant Prince has a very original teen storyline and I do think it has huge potential.

Prince Jackson Maynard is sent to another dimension, our current earth, to assist Ryleigh Donnovan in crossing over to his world. Let me clarify, “Assist” means murder. Luckily he can't do it, but it puts Jackson in all kinds of trouble with his people and his father the king.

In Jackson's world, the Kingdom of Cymmera, war has been brewing for 100's of years. Somehow, Ryleigh is the key to save his kingdom,

And I was right, that was awful. The writing is terrible. The plot is ridiculous. The characters are all superficial and transparent. And it's love after like 1 day of knowing each other.

Also in what freaking world does the crown prince and heir NOT outrank everyone except the king? Ridiculous.
