Sissy's Romance Book Review

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
'Sinner's Grove' by A.B. Michaels is the story of Jenna Bergstrom and Brit Maguire.
Jenna is returning to work with her grandfather who is not in good health to reopen her family's once-famous artists' retreat. Jenna leaves her job to come back to help out and of course she runs into Brit again. Brit is a partner of her Grand Father's and also an old love. They meet again when her grandfather is taken to the hospital and Brit comes to check

Sinner’s Grove is the first book in A.B. Michael’s Sinner’s Grove contemporary romantic suspense series. Plotted with the past interwoven with the present and a mystery that spans generations as well as present day sabotage and criminals.

Jenna Bergstrom is an artist, who has been running from her heritage and family due to a discovery she made at fourteen. When tragedy strikes, she takes responsibility to help her brother and moves them both to Sinner’s Grove at the urging of their grandfather,

Sometimes I pick up a Romance novel, to escape from the boring uncertainties and lack of swoon-worthy heroes in every day life. However, occasionally, after the first few chapters, I close the book and never open it again. I possess limited tolerance for cliché loaded dialogue, generic settings, stereotypical villains and heroes with predictable “moves”. (Okay, I admit that I referred to the “heroes’ ‘moves’” because I’m embarrassed to write the term “sex scene”.) Sinner’s Grove transcends all t ...more

I liked the modern day connection to the original book, it was like getting to see another side of characters that I thought I had said goodbye to. Great, descriptive, non-cliche writing. Not a predictable read and clear that the author spent a lot of time working through it because I couldn't predict all of the twists and turns or the final outcome. ...more

The Grove is a project to build an art gallery to show off great pieces of art. Brit and Jenna were lovers 7 years ago when she left abruptly. Jenna returned to help her grandfather with the Grove project. Brit is helping to build the Grove. There are people who want the project to fail for personal reasons. There is construction site sabotage, including a fire and an explosion, and murder. There are twists and turns to keep you interested. It is also a love story.

I loved the complexed nature of this story. While it is a standalone novel, it's interconnectivity to the five other books of the Golden Series. What I truly loved was the depth of the characters. On to book 2 of the Singer's Grove Series.

A modern novel that involves characters from the past that are in other novels by the same author. Fun if you have read these other books and a good mystery romance novel on its own.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Sinner's Grove was actually kind of fascinating. On the surface, it's the story of 'boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, girl leaves boy, girl comes back many years later and they're forced to work together.' But it's much more complex than that. This is the story of Jenna and Brit. Jenna is an artist. Brit is an architect. Both are deeply hurt by actions in the past. When Jenna has to return to Sinner's Grove to help her grand

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This book had me from the very beginning. Jenna, the heroine, is a young woman trying to find where she truly feels a part of something. She has been struggling with who she is since she was a young girl searching for Christmas presents and finds something that changes everything. Jenna is a gifted, artistic young woman who has just ran from one things to another until tragedy struck for the second & third time. Jenna ran fro ...more

Jenna Bergstrom is a San Francisco artist that made a startling discovery when she was fourteen that caused an estrangement with her family. Her loneliness was later sharpened by a tragedy. Now her grandfather, who is ailing, needs her help and expertise to re-open an artists’ retreat that was once famous and that is owned by her family that is located on the Northern California coast. There is just one problem. She will have to face the ex-love of her life, architect Brit Maguire.

Jenna is a multi-media artist who has come home to The Grove to help her grandfather while they are working to get The Grove up and running again. Brit is the architect/historian/construction master who is bringing The Grove back to life and better. He is also the man Jenna ran from 7 years ago. Mystery, vandalism, and ultimately murder is afoot and abound to keep The Grove from opening and to keep Jenna and Brit apart. There are a lot of characters, side stories, and intrigue going on and it is ...more

Shades of Falcon Crest!
As I started flipping epages I came to the cast of characters and took a mental step back, fearing the sweep of the drama might overwhelm. But once I started reading, I found I had no trouble remembering who was who and what part s/he played in the unfolding tale. Encompassing mystery, history, art and romance, Ms. Michaels has put together a meaty and enjoyable tale which, although part of a greater universe (both sequel and prequel, spanning the centuries), stands very f

A.B. Michaels Hit a home run with this one. She went in a whole different direction with this one. the knowledge of human trafficking and the brutality of those doing this is really brought out in this story. Although while telling this story she still manages to include the kind of love story we have come to expect from her. Absolutely her best work to date.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were likeable and the plot was exciting. I did have a few questions that weren't answered, namely, what happened to Parker? But all in all, an excellent mystery/romance. ...more

A native of northern California, A.B. Michaels earned masters' degrees in history and broadcasting, and worked for many years in public relations and marketing. Now that she's an empty nester, she has time to write the kinds of stories she loves to read. Her historical series, "The Golden City," follows characters who make their way in turn of the twentieth century San Francisco. "I love creating ...more
