Το βιβλίο αφορά τα κύρια ρεύματα της ευρωπαϊκής και αμερικανικής λόγιας/έντεχνης μουσικής μέχρι τη δεκαετία του 70, κυρίως σχολιάζοντας επιγραμματικά συνθέτες και το έργο τους. Δυστυχώς σε πολλά σημεία το κείμενο γίνεται αρκετά δυσνόητο λόγω μεταφραστικής ανακρίβειας και περίεργης σύνταξης.

Very dense, I had to skip sections of it, but it was cool that this book talked about the introduction of rock and other things, as most music history texts always decide to leave that out

Lots of Stravinksy and Schoenberg, not enough Messaien. But great survey of the last century's art music scene.
