With his thick southern drawl and seductive charm, Luke is the country boy everyone adores. He has his future mapped out, but his plans with Olivia are suddenly derailed when she makes a decision that blindsides him, changing the path they both envisioned.
As Luke struggles to keep everything in check during a difficult time in his life, he must put his trust in the one person who broke it to begin with. The last time they saw each other, Olivia busted his heart wide open, turning him into the man he is today.
When Olivia returns to her roots, just like Luke said she would, he is shocked for more reasons than one. Nine years have passed since they've seen each other, and when their roads collide unexpectedly, Luke can only push his worry and misgivings away for so long.
Things are different now—they are strangers—and the rope that once bound Olivia's heart to South Fork, Georgia is pulling her back in, forcing her to remember how it used to be all those years ago.
Lucia Franco has written over a dozen romance novels. Her emotional stories often include an age gap and forbidden love.
Her novel Hush Hush was a finalist in the RWA 2019 Stiletto Contest. Her novels have been translated into several languages.
Lucia resides in South Florida with her husband, two boys, and five pets. She was a competitive athlete for over ten years – a gymnast and cheerleader – which heavily inspired the Off Balance series. When she isn’t writing, you can find her at the beach getting slammed by waves or wandering through her butterfly garden.
Olivia was a deceitful bitch. She didn't deserve Luke nor Nate. She was a liar in her teens when she lied to Luke about college, she was a liar when she dated Nate and kept all these secrets about her contact with Luke a secret and she is still a liar.
I can't believe how one character can be so disgusting and not want to change. And when people call her out on her shit she gets all uppity and wants to argue! Bitch sit down somewhere!
If you've paid attention to my Goodreads feed/activity recently, you probably know I've been obsessed with the Dark Hunter series and have binge read at least 6 of the books in the past week. You also probably know I've been dying to get to Acheron's book, and I'm currently in the middle of Dream Chaser, the book right before Acheron. Why am I telling you this? Well, nothing's been able to rip me away from that series--my favorite ALL TIME series-- until I started You'll Think of Me. It was about 10 pm and I thought I'd read the prologue just to get a sneak peek. It sucked me in from the very beginning, and I couldn't stop. I kept saying one more chapter, Tessa, just one more chapter until it was 4 am and I was reading The End. I simply couldn't put it down. I was so wrapped up in the story that I had to know how it turned out, and it didn't disappoint.
You'll Think of Me is an amazingly well-written, fantastic, heart-wrenching, sexy debut novel by Lucia Franco and I can't wait to read more of her work.
You'll Think of Me by Lucia Franco is a sweet story of losing your first love to follow your dreams and see them years later. Both of you are at different stages in your life but that same spark is still there you felt when you were 18.
The story is told in narrative point of view, telling the reader of Olivia & Luke. They were college sweethearts in a small town in Georgia but Olivia wanted more for herself. She wanted to leave the state and follow her dreams of becoming a doctor. That is what she did, she was accepted into Med school in New York and left. Luke is a small town, country boy. He wanted to live near his parents, have a family with Olivia and be happy. Years go and now Olivia is a doctor back in her home state of Georgia and of course runs into Luke again, only now he is a famous country super star.
First, I had a hard time getting into the book. I prefer novels written in the POVs of the characters. It just reads smoother to me and I can follow along better. This is a personal preference but it does interfere with my reading and honestly, getting into the book.
With that said, I was starting to look past it and enjoy the beginning of the book. I liked starting off with Olivia moving to Georgia and starting hew new life as a doctor back in her home state. What I didn't like was suddenly the chapters were of the past and since it was in narrative POV it was hard to follow if it was Olivia's emotions or Luke's. It was a lot of back and forth and different people's inner thoughts and I found it hard to follow along. It was like this the majority of the book. The chapters of the past were my least favorite. I wish it was focused more on the current time and given more detail on scenes. Things just went by really quickly in my opinion. I wanted it more written out and more scenes. I was getting bored at times and skimming the past chapters just to read the current time chapters.
As for the characters, I have mad respect for Olivia. She gave up her first love for her dreams. Not many people would do that and she was able to achieve her dreams. She was independent and a real person. I liked her. As for Luke, I thought he was a dick to be honest. He was so not understanding of Olivia and told her if she doesn't stay they were over. He wouldn't even try with her. He only wanted it his way or no way. Even when he came back and was this "famous country singer" he was still a jerk to Olivia. She deserved way better! He is on my shit-list for sure!!!
The book had cute moments but like I mentioned above I was skimming pages. At times I felt like I was reading scenes out of one of my favorite movies, Sweet Home Alabama. It is sort of the same premise. It's cute but I would not read the book again.
I give You'll Think of Me, 2 stars.
ARC provided by the author in return for an honest review.
I really couldn’t believe this was a debut. When I was done reading I actually double checked that it was in fact a debut novel. The writing in You’ll Think of Me was so developed that it honestly didn’t seem like it was the author’s first book, and I loved the book so much more for that fact. OK. For starters when I read the synopsis, I already knew I had to read this book. A southern romance. I mean come on, those are my freaking favorite. Luke and Olivia’s relationship was an amazing one to experience. It was all very real. Their love was strong, unbreakable. Until it wasn’t. Until life got in the way. Olivia had a huge opportunity after college, one she would’ve been crazy to turn down, but with that decision came the decision to possibly walk away from everything she’s ever known. “They were together in this moment and that’s all that mattered. Nothing else” Luke… oh Luke…*sigh* I loved me some Luke... Just his name, I feel like I could just say his name over and over again. Luke is a southern gentleman, and boy is he delicious. Oh did I mention he sings? Him, his angelic voice, and his dirty mouth are more than enough to make anyone swoon, and swoon I did. “It was savage, it was pure, and it was raw. It was all consuming.” Luke and Olivia go through a lot. The pain that they both felt. The pain they both caused. It was etched in their words, and I couldn’t help but sit there and feel their pain too. What I loved most about this book was how real it was. The situations in the book were things that people could definitely relate to. What I loved more was that fate had so much to do with You’ll Think of Me. It’s no surprise that I love love. I love being able to feel the love characters have for one another, and Luke and Olivia loved fiercely. You’ll Think of Me is the story of love and loss. Loving someone so much, yet sometimes finding out in the end that love isn’t enough. But also realizing that when you are meant to be with someone, nothing, and I mean NOTHING can change that. When you are meant to be with someone, no one, nothing can get in the way of that. I know this review is a jumbled mess, but I’m trying not to give anything away. What I will say is Olivia and Luke’s story should be read by everyone. I laughed, I cried, I blushed, I swooned. I did it all and loved this story so much! Lucia, this is my first book of yours that I’ve read, but I promise it won’t be my last. You have a forever fan in me <3
Wow. I LOVED this story! Anyone who follows me knows I don't give spoiler reviews or recaps. I'd rather you enjoy your first reading without any inside knowledge. However, I will say this... This story is sweet, heartbreaking, sexy and just down right amazing. I COULD NOT put it down! I can't wait for the rest of you to read it.
Advance copy from author for an honest review. Thank you Lucia.
*****5 Only You Got The Real Me Stars*****
Lucia did an amazing job on her debut novel about first love, second chances and forever.
Olivia (Livy) is a strong, independent and head strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it head first heart trailing behind.
Luke is Southern Comfort times 10. He is sexy, sinful, and respectful, with a voice that will melt your panties off and completely in love with Olivia.
The story of Olivia and Luke is about finding your first love, letting go and getting a second chance. Life takes these two on different journeys for 9 years, and then faith brings them back together again.
I have to say that this book brought out so many feelings and emotions as I got wrapped up in each character. Lucia writing was able to draw you into the story as if you were there experiencing it along with the characters. This book had me hook, line and sinker. The sexy scenes, panty melting songs written just for Livy and the Southern Gentlemen were a toxic and perfect combination for this beautifully written book.
I am looking forward to reading more amazing stories from Lucia and will be on the lookout for them also.
sometimes I think I really need to pull my head out of my arse!!! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why didn't read this one sooner!!! I absolutely ADORED the book!!!! Probably the BEST somewhat love triangle, if I can even call it that, that I've ever read!!!!
I'm DYING for more, more, more!!! I really, really, really want to know Nate's story!!!!
Nine years ago Olivia made a decision to change her life. She didn’t want to feel dependent on anybody and wanted to move away from her life in small-town Georgia. She was graduating from college and sending out applications to med schools. A med school in New York accepted her and she was ready to leave…the only problem was she had not yet told her boyfriend, Luke, of 4 years that she had been accepted, let alone that she applied.
“Fine. Leave. If that’s what you want, then go. I hope you find what you’re looking for, but know this – I won’t be waiting for you when you come back, ‘cause baby, you’ll be back. This place is in your bones. Mark my words.”
Luke was right…Olivia is ready to come back home and begin practice as a neurologist. Following their breakup, Luke drowned his sorrows in beer and wrote lyrics of a broken heart. He was able to land a record deal because of those lyrics and he is now a successful singer/songwriter, but still claims Georgia as his home and enjoys coming back to his roots when he’s not on tour.
Olivia is happy with her medical practice, her dog, and the occasional night out with her friends. She is perfectly content with her solitary life. She certainly wasn’t expecting to meet charismatic and sexy Nate. Nate is not content to take “no” for an answer when it comes to Olivia. He pursues her relentlessly and eventually Olivia gives in to the unexplainable chemistry between them and is willing to take a chance. Nate and Olivia have a good thing going, but the relationship takes a turn that Olivia wasn’t prepared for.
“I’m falling hard for you. The kind of falling where the words ‘I love you’ usually follow soon after, Liv.”
Besides Nate throwing her into a full blown roller coaster of unexpected emotions, she also has to deal with the arrival of Luke, and his presence is one that cannot be denied. He is used to charming his way and he is definitely smooth with his words. He didn’t get to be a star on his good looks alone. As much as he wants to remain angry at Olivia for leaving him, he cannot deny that he misses what they had and that he has never had that kind of a relationship with another woman. Luke is a gentleman and although he takes whatever he can get from Olivia, he knows that he cannot have her completely if she is with Nate. He has his own way to fight for Olivia.
“Listen to my lyrics, they tell a story.”
Olivia finds herself in quite a conundrum – which man will she give her heart to? Which man will walk away gracefully but still with a broken heart to nurse?
“This is the end of the road for us. Just know that I loved you and could’ve loved you more than any other woman if you had let me, but you couldn’t. And it’s okay, baby. I’m not mad. I’m just hurt.”
Second chance love stories always pull at my heart strings and this one was no exception. It is well written, with glimpses of the past being shown to us intermittently. I prefer that style of writing rather than jumping back 10 years to have a chapter-by-chapter recollection. Luke and Olivia had a beautiful love and it was sad to go back and read how it was given up. I did have a hard time in my personal decision making process of which man I wanted her to be with. There is a happy ending for 2 people, and I am left with an impression that perhaps the one left behind will receive his own story.
It was my pleasure to be asked to beta read You'll Think of Me early in its writing stage. Lucia Franco has done a solid job with her debut novel. I think she is definitely a new author to keep a watchful eye on.
A first love that began as kids, separated by different life choices and miles of separation puts that love on the wrong track. But sometimes if Lady Luck has her way, a second chance comes along that might right all those wrongs and lead to a happily-ever-after.
The blurb gave no indication that there might be a love triangle involved with this storyline. Some readers may be put off by this fact. I’m not one of them. I like a good challenge and this one definitely has it with a great package of strength behind it. You won’t find a bad guy or a lot of ruffled feathers. Nope – you’re safe because there is no battle – only Southern gentlemen and one lonely but strong-willed woman.
Franco wrote two swoon-worthy males characters. Both Nate and Luke deserve to find their happily ever afters. Nate’s character was so well written that he almost stole the show right out from under Luke. The sexual interaction between Nate and Olivia seemed much more flammable than when she and Luke are together. This was a bit disappointing to me. I just didn’t feel as much emotional connection or spark in their scenes. I guess I wanted a more substantial reconnection and recommitment interaction between the main couple. It wasn’t that I didn’t find Luke attractive and sexy because he was – he just didn’t come across as convincing – maybe because it was just his personality or the fact that Olivia had hurt him so badly.
Another little hitch was the fact that the relationship between Nate and Olivia represented a good deal of the storyline. It was enjoyable and well-developed as well. It seemed to me that Luke took a back seat to these two. In my opinion, he didn’t stand out as the main squeeze! He was behind the scenes in much of the action. At times it got a little confusing and I wondered if Olivia really knew who and what she wanted. Nine years is a long time to be apart – I wish we could have felt some “maybe” moments between Luke and Olivia throughout the nine years.
On the whole, this is a very enjoyable and satisfying contemporary romance loaded with emotion from a new author who knows how to spin a great tale. I would recommend one-clicking Lucia Franco’s “You’ll Think of Me” today.
3.5 Care Bear Whiskey STARS *ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest Review*
Who doesn’t like a second chance romance? I surely do, always a sucker for a love that somehow went south or for some or other circumstance ended to only have a reunion years after . Sigh.
The cover was another factor in getting me on board, and the tittle as well perked up my interest in reading ‘You’ll Think Of Me’ so here it is… my verdict!
I really liked the writing style, I’m always drawn to poetic descriptions, feelings and moods, and there were very lovely ones in this story.
The story starts in the present but fills us in about the past through flashbacks and that is how we get to the love story gone wrong between Luke and Olivia. They are both hotheaded and stubborn, each one with their own ideas and future goals which is pretty much what leads them to take different roads.
I had a hard time with Luke, as it is pretty clear how Olivia never got over him, always thought of him and tried to stay in contact and have some form of connection with him throughout the beginning of their separation. But he was hurt and cut her off until years later 9 to be exact he just sees her again one day and realized he still wanted her. Although his songs suggest he never got over her but he still just let time go by.
As for Olivia she was a Doctor, not any type of doctor but a Neurologist non the less. But she had a big appetite for Whiskey, and in my mind I really can’t picture doctors going to work hung over as Olivia did a few times.
I did like Nate but we didn’t really get much of him, he was introduced I guess to give a little bit of drama but was dismissed quickly. I would have loved to have a bit more drama and a fight from Luke to swoon me over as Olivia. I guess the heart wants what it wants.
Overall You’ll Think of Me is a fast read, with great writing and I honestly will read more from Lucia Franco. Her debut novel was easy and a great way to spend a lazy day.
I was lucky enough to beta read You'll Think of Me earlier this year and the story sucked me in from the start. Then after a few long months I finally got to read the finished version. This is a beautiful story of regrets, longing, and making mistakes.
For me, I became invested in Luke and Olivia's story starting at page one. I needed to know how things came to be, and almost as soon as I would think it, the next page gave me what I needed. The writing style was brilliant. It was heartbreaking. It was sexy. And at times poetic. The musical lyrics weaved throughout the pages were beautiful and only gave Luke's voice an added layer of meaning.
Young love. First love. It's something you never really forget. It stays with you. It molds you - shapes you. And when you lose it - it transforms you. And that is exactly what happened to Luke and Olivia. Each of them were molded, shaped, and then transformed by each other. And years later, the effects of that were evident. Both trying to live their lives without the other, until it becomes clear that there is no living without the other.
To my friends who don't like love triangles, there is one here. But I can only tell you that there really are no bad guys in this. Luke and Olivia were always meant to be. Unfortunately there were a few detours along the way. But that's sort of the point. Life doesn't happen neatly. We make decisions when we're young that impacts our lives years from now. It's a you don't know what you don't know sort of thing. We are all imperfect people who screw up, and then hope for a day we get a do-over. Sometimes we get lucky. Sometimes we don't.
I didn't dislike a single character. And at the end, I rooted for everyone's happiness. Including Nate's. He kind of has a special place in my heart, and I hope he gets his own story someday.
I thought about this book long after I read the final page. Beautiful debut! <3
So I have serious book hangover this morning. I read this book in a single sitting, up all night, I couldn't leave it alone. Livy and Luke were so easy to become invested in, their characters were well developed, and for about the first half of the book, it went from past to present so we got to know them as brand new adults,AND well into adulthood. I don't do spoilers, ever, but I will say this...on release day, buy it, read it, it's really long, but I found that I loved the characters so much that I didn't want it to end.
The story is emotional, I laughed, I cried quite a few Times. I was absolutely torn at the 'sort of' love triangle...I'm always leary of love triangles, but Lucia Franco handled it so beautifully. (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give the other awesome man a story of his own, I know there's a story there because of his expression in a scene with the h, and he so needs a HEA.)
This amazing author can write! She tells a great story and the writing absolutely flows. If you can make me cry with a fictional story/characters, well then...mission accomplished. No doubt...5 FAT STARS
Actually, the book itself was actually really hard to read.
Well, scratch that. It was hard not because it was bad. Totally the opposite. It was hard because for more than one reason, it was extremely painful to read. And well, many of those reasons are really not worth explaining; but one: second chances are worth fighting for but they are really, REALLY heartbreaking. I talk about this from my own personal experience.
See, I loved a boy many, many moons ago. We had a very sweet, very caring relationship and up to a certain point in our life, we planned ahead, made assumptions, created our own little world. We used to go out, meet with friends, dance, party, smile. I was truly, for the one and only time in my life, HAPPY.
Then one day, I decided I needed a change in my life. A fresh start. Something more adventurous, a little bolder. And I bought a one way ticket to New York…and kind-of forgot to tell him. Needless to say, he was so upset the world just stop for both of us. I tried, and God is my witness, to mend things and make it right before I left. We gathered for dinner at a friends house two days before my departure, we spoke on the phone, we made promises. But after I left, things changed big time, for both of us and he moved on, while I had to suck my pride and chase him down. When I returned two years later, we tried. We both did a huge effort, but 8 months later, almost after 6 years of what I thought was love; he broke it off taking my heart with him. It hurt. We tried, but not all second chances bloom. That’s why this book brought to me so many painful memories, but truly, it was so sweet and good I do have to admit I could not put it down.
I’ve seen so many 4 and 5 star reviews that honestly another 4.5 one shouldn’t make any difference or change any perspective, but I must share the joy I had reading this; cause from the bottom of my heart I really was looking forward for it and knew since day one it would be a hit. Livy and Luke’s story may remind you (or may not) about your first love. That love so powerful it breaks all barriers, it brings you to your knees. Livy knows for a fact that she gave her heart to Luke and Luke alone many years ago, and no matter the circumstances, up to this day she can’t get over it. Luke also knows his heart and inspiration belong to no other than Livy. Life may happen, people grow, many songs are written and sang but if one decides to give ones heart to somebody, no matter how gut wrenching it can be, it will be permanent. In a certain way, Livy knew that, but also her inner self needed to achieve that independence many women seek. She needed to leave her small hometown to test the waters and find that missing piece of her puzzle. She needed to prove to herself that she could do it. It’s a hard thing you know, leave somebody you love so much to pursue a dream, but as someone who actually DID EXACTLY THAT, I know first hand that regret and doubt are two enemies that won’t leave you until you find closure. Livy had that option: nothing was stopping her from staying, nothing was stopping her from coming back home, nothing was stopping her from calling Luke; but her own personal goals took priority in her life and she decided to go for her dreams. Luke also had choices. There were many things he coul’ve done to mend his attitude towards her. Yes, of course it was selfish not to share her intentions, but it didn’t make Luke less guilty to snap at her and throw her to the curve cause he was hurt. Hey, all of us make mistakes. In this case though, Livy’s wasn’t a mistake, it was a pursuit of achievements, a need to break through and reach her maximum dream. Luke also had his dream, but I think that he fell short in comparison to her in making a statement about it.
In the best Nate fashion: Luke 0 – Livy 1.
Ah, speaking of Nate, well, Nate was just something that needed to happen. In my opinion he needed to have a bit more of a spotlight, just to make the drama turn up a notch, but Nate as much as a collateral damage that you may tag him, was the ultimate sacrifice lamb. I felt sorry for him, but at the same time knew from the get go that he needed to get his hear broken in order for Livy and Luke to reconnect.
(JUST A THOUGHT -----> Nate’s broken heart might be the excellent jumpstart for a spinoff???? Or maybe Luke’s brother John could headline a 3rd installment? Maybe turn this into a series? Livy’s friend Lisa might come down her flirt cloud? Well, it’s just an idea but there is enough material for it, that’s for sure.)
Last but not least, this is one of those stories that leave your heart warm and a smile on your face. There is a bit of heartbreaking, but nothing that is worth so much as true love comes without a sacrifice or pain. In order to reach that ultimate dream in life, you must sacrifice something. I can tell you this from my own experience and pain. My story though doesn’t have a HEA like Livy and Luke’s. The boy I gave my heart to never give it back to me. He married, divorced, married again and now is a happy father of two, but hey, life not always saves for us the best of endings, that's probably why I'm so addicted to kick ass love stories like this one <3
ANOTHER THOUGHT ------> It would be also great to see a Livy and Luke story down the road, with their 2.5 kids and a few Golden Retrievers wandering somewhere around the 20 acres of Luke’s custom built house that most likely now belongs to Livy as well, just as his heart always did.
Cheers to you Lucia Franco, for this wonderful love story. I really wish I could’ve been part of the celebration, but I send you a big congratulation hug to where you are, over there in the future, and toast (with apple juice cause it’s noon on a work day) for your success :)
We’re living in a generation where lying is the new truth, loyalty is a tattoo and love is just a quote. Goodbye, Care Bear.
I WAS TORN.
OLD LOVE VS NEW FLAME.
TEAM LUKE VS TEAM NATE – whom should I chose?
He had already his future planned out, and it has always been with her – so when decisions were made without consulting him, he couldn’t see the point of them continuing together. So no matter how painful it was for him, or for her – he has to let her go. The first scene broke my heart. Can’t they just work it out? I mean, they were perfect for each other – why not compromise? I understand where they are both coming from. Luke wants her to stay and Olivia wanted to follow her dreams. Why not meet in the middle?
Argh.
Forward nine years – Olivia is now a doctor, and returns home.
She met Nate – he was a patient, and Olivia didn’t want to date him at first (ethics and all), but he was very persuasive and determined to have her. And when they did - their chemistry was freaking off the charts, I can feel my heart rate doubled when they’re alone together. But there was always that elephant in the room whenever they’re together.
An unexpected circumstance draw Luke Jackson back into her life – and it didn’t sit well with Nate. If I were Nate, I’d panic too – these two had so much history together! But it has been almost a decade, and a lot has change. They were no longer who they were in the past. They were almost strangers, sharing the same concerns and worries.
But true love never dies, as the old adage tells. And no matter how much time, distance, and no matter how many people come in between, if you are meant to be, fate will find a way to bring the two of you back together. That’s what happened here – the couple had experienced a whole lot of heartbreak, hurt, and pain – and yet at the end it was still them.
I have always been a sucker for second chances plot, but this one, ALMOST made me reconsider it. For a while, I thought I would have gone with Nate, I would have loved them to be together, I don’t care about Luke at all – he had his chance, and he gave her up. But after all of the revelations, of everything that has transpired over nine years have been put into the open – Luke won me over.
The first time I saw this one - I fell in love with the book cover, and twice as much with the book itself once I finished reading it.

The story of Luke and Olivia, loving through music.
This book brings you through the past and present lives of Olivia and Luke. First it brings you to the heartbreaking past of their break up and how painful their separation was 9yrs before their separated present lives. Then Author Lucia brings you back and forth from present to past and back again. I love how the Author wrote the story, it made me understand how Olivia and Luke became who they were as adults.
The story really takes the reader to knowing how much love and heartbreak both characters went through in their lives. There was so much emotion when it came to Luke and Olivia. That no matter how far part or how much time had past, Olivia and Luke always belonged together. Of course I cannot forget about the music, this story is also about the connection they have for music. No one can understand each other more than they understood music together. Luke became who he was for Olivia, every lyric that came out of his mind was because of her. When they were apart, he had an empty part of him that always wanted her and looked for her.
As for Olivia, even though she was the one that left to chase her dreams, she was as heartbroken as Luke was. Even when she got with Nate, she never really fully gave her whole heart to him. She was always thinking of Nate and her what if.
After seeing each other again, even after 9yrs sparks flew. They knew, they just tried to deny it. While reading this book, at times I got antsy. I just wanted them back so badly, but I stayed patient and it was all worth it. This story is not only beautiful, but so sweet. I <3 Luke and for Luke his music always speaks louder than words.
♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ Luke: Listen to the music, it tells a story… Luke: time fades…but the music never stops.
♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯
Of course let’s not forget about poor Nate, he was sweet and kind. I hope he also gets his happy ending, he deserves it. Author Lucia Franco, please write a book about that wonderful man. =)
From the moment I saw this cover and read the teasers, I have been anxious to get this book in my hands. So I admit I was bit nervous going in and I only hoped it would live up to the expectations I had built up in my head. Lucia truly surprised me. She wrote a beautifully written, deeply sensual, love story that both sucked you in and made you want more.
Olivia and Luke had grown up together. They were each other’s best friends. Music and their love for one another bonded them together. Olivia loved Luke immensely but when they graduated college she wanted to escape their small town life for a bigger dream. Livy makes a decision to peruse her education in New York and her decision tears the couple apart.
Nine years later, Livy finally moves back home to their home state of Georgia. She has a new job, new life, but she still misses what she once had with Luke. It’s been years since they’ve seen each other but when circumstances bring them together, it also brings back the pain, hurt, and bitterness of their break up.
“Why you makin’ me fall In love with you, no complications, just easy and smooth love like the summer breeze that drifts through the leaves, baby lean into my kiss, every man needs his own whiskey girl like this.”
You could immediately see that the attraction was still there but so was the past. So much time had passed and they both changed over the years. Luke was still sweet, sexy, but oh so frustrating. Olivia had been holding herself back from fully giving her heart to someone else but when someone else comes into the picture she had to decide if she was truly ready to move on.
The book is told in third person and we get to see both past and present. I loved reading about their past. Livy and Luke had this loving, beautiful relationship. He was so sweet, caring, and you could feel the connection between two. I really felt all their emotions of their time together and as they fell apart. I enjoyed these characters. At times I wanted to shake them for their stubbornness but it made them real and I could relate to them. I admit I’m greedy and I wanted a bit more from them during the present scenes but I still really enjoyed the story. This was a great debut and I’m excited for more from this author.
I've sat on this review for a couple of days unsure of what I wanted to say. I'm still not sure how to review this book. In the end I decided on 3 out of 5 stars. I didn't fall in love with the story, but at the same time I didn't hate it either. The story alternates between past and present and switches POV'S of Olivia and Luke's in the same chapter. I think it would have been better to do POV switches by chapter, it would have been easier to follow.
Let me tell you what I didn't like. 1. Luke. Point blank I thought he was an asshole. And I got no character development with him. He stayed consistent the whole time, ASSHOLE!. 2. Olivia. I seriously wanted to strangle her with how easily she let Luke treat her like shit.
Examples:
She gets accepted to med school in New York and was scared to inform him afraid of his reaction. His response? He leaves her. Pretty much tells her it's either him or med school. They had YEARS together and he just breaks it off because she wants med school?? Yes I understand his point that she kept it hidden from him, but shit there is no talking about compromises, its just him or med school.
When she returns home several years later, Luke has became a huge star with his singing career. Olivia sees Luke's mother as a patient and Luke calls and is a huge dick to her telling her not to say anything about seeing his mother. He feeds off her love for him to get her to tell him about the visit. When she caves because she doesn't want him to worry, he replies with "That's all it took for you to tell me?" What an ASS!
What to know what I enjoyed most from this story? Nathaniel Alexander. To me, he earned 2 of those 3 stars I gave. That is what Luke's character should have been like. Sweet, caring, gentle and wanting to be there for Olivia and putting her first.
Even though I didn't love the story, I know there are several others who did love it. And that's okay. If we all hated or loved the books it would become monotonous. And I am willing to read more from this author in the future.
I received an ARC in return of an honest review ,,, here goes ,,,
Let me tell you straight off that this is an all round genuine love story ,,, I enjoyed this read ,,, it's a feel good read ,,, no bad or dark contents ,,, so if your looking for an easy happy read go for this one :) ,,, the layout of this book is both present and past
This is the story of Olivia and Luke ,,, two souls that were brought together at a young age ,,, there by each other's sides day in day out ,,, life was good ,,, they were brought up in different ways their home life was different in many ways and the 'family' pull was stronger for one than the other
Olivia wanted to be able to have a life that was hers ,,, not dependent on any other ,,, she worked so hard to achieve her goals ,,, Olivia is the kind of girl that sets targets and at all costs makes sure she gets them ,,, this is an impressive trait but sometimes choices that are made change lives ,,, not just hers but others too.
Like is happy and content ,,, he knows what he wants and he has it ,,, well he thought he did ,,, until he was blown away by a revelation that left him broken
Olivia and Luke share a bond stronger than most can only dream about ,,, it's the kind that through all of the things that life will bring their love will always survive ,,, together or not it will always be there ,,, so when life does get in the way how will they cope? How will they ever get through life ,,, without the other breathing becomes too difficult living is near impossible
BUT everything in life happens for a reason ,,, it makes people who they are ,,, yes it may change expectations but that's not always a bad thing ,,, we all have choices to make and come across a fork in the road ,,, but when something is meant to be surely there will always be light at the end of the tunnel ,,, won't there?
So while I was reading this book, the song that kept playing in my head was Queen's "I was born to love you". It's just so perfect for Olivia and Luke's story! :)
I enjoyed reading this story so much. It was such a wonderful, sexy love story between two people, Luke and Olivia, who met as teens, but due to circumstances, they broke up, but their paths cross again nine years later. And like gravity couldn't hold them down, they find each other and realize that even time and distance hadn't crashed what they used to feel for each other.
Olivia and Luke are stubborn characters which makes for great scenes and tension. I loved that Olivia didn't bend to Luke's will, and that Luke never gave up on his 'Whiskey Girl', Olivia.
I hope we get a story about Nate. He was such a wonderful character as well.

I just hate not finishing book but I couldn't get into it,maybe in the future I will pick it up again. but it was a no-go for me. I couldn't connect with any of the characters nor did I care for the writing style. But the did write it beautifully, it just needed warning when perspective changed between characters
I didn't feel like the characters had any chemistry together and I just keep putting this book down it never really kept my interest up at all, which disappoints me.
This book was so good! Jumping from past to present, this book takes you on a journey from where you think you should be to where you belong. Through sacrifice and regret, Olivia and Luke flow through life not really living. Decisions are made that rip them apart leaving them battered and bruised, but fate has a funny way of working out. Along the way, Olivia meets someone who helps heal a part of her she didn't realize she needed, and things become a little clearer for her. This is a story about love and loss and proof that no matter what your plans are, your heart always seems to find its way home.
This book is written in third person so you get to experience the feelings flowing through each charter along the way. Definitely recommend.
Damn this was second-chance adventure. What I liked most about it is that it shows us what can happen when people, and the love that they share, matures. Luke and Olivia broke up right after college. She is on her way out-of-state to continue her education (soon-to-be neurologists, good for her!), and he's stuck on wanting to stay in the small, quaint country town that they grew up in. He feels betrayed, she feels like he doesn't support her.
They meet again almost 10 years later and rekindle their friendship. The circumstances are difficult, but you can see the sparks flying and the reluctance they both have. I won't give too much away, but this book definitely delivered some angst, love triangle drama, and a good "falling in love all over again" feelings.
Wonderful Second Chance Romance Luke and Olivia were childhood sweethearts in a small town in Georgia but Olivia left for the big city and to follow her dreams of becoming a doctor. Nine years later Olivia has returned to Georgia, she missed home and Luke. Luke found his voice in music after Olivia left and has become a huge country star. Both struggle with the choices made and whether they can find their way back to each other. I swoon thinking of southern Luke Jackson and his country music voice as I read this book. Awesome character for me. Loved this book so much
I really enjoyed this one. Second chance love story that was emotional and had me really feeling the characters and what they were going through. Olivia and Luke were strong and sexy together. My only issue was with the last 15-20% of the book. It felt like something was slightly different in the writing compared to the rest of the book. Regardless I still loved the story and the characters and will continue with this authors other novels.
