This book combines a short vita of the early desert amma, Syncletica, with her sayings. As one of only three women whose work made it into the "Sayings of the Desert Fathers and Mothers" at an early stage, her teachings were clearly considered significant. This is one of the oldest examples of a female vita that we have. It is relatively straightforward and in some ways prosaic.
