Cindy's life is split between her responsibilities in her bakery and as the Seraphine of Faerie. It's chaotic, but she's making it work a day at a time.
Then Cindy's father disappears and the last thing she ever wanted to have happen is thrust upon her-- she is going to be made Seraphim. Will Cindy lose everything she has worked so hard for?
This book had the potential to be a five star book, but it feels rushed and needs another editor. There are two pages that appear to be more of an outlines where the main character switches from first to third person. Those two pages seem to be the worse of the rush and editing problem, but there are a few other places. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable end to the series. Even despite the flaws, about halfway through I ended up staying up several hours into the night to find out how things would turn out.
Wow... Cindy Eller is over! What to say about those books?
Well it started out light and funny, only to be finished in a more mature, serious and dark way. I liked it, it makes you grow up with your beloved characters, even though the lighter tone is sometimes missed.
If criticism must be made (as to why I didn't put a five-star review), it would be the rushing in some very interesting parts of the book. But all in all, How (Not) To Love A Hero wraps it all up in a pretty bow.
Goodbye Cindy Eller, you and your wonderful mouth-watering treats will be greatly missed! Hopefully you'll live your happily ever after, like all good fairytale!
Love this series. I got sidetracked and just got back to it the past week. Magic, and magical delicious food? Interesting characters and exciting plots all add up to a great read.
The magic of faerie, has really messed with Cindy this time. Or rather trusting the wrong person to be on her side. This wad definitely an interesting twist.
This series must be read in order. The first book is How (Not) to Play with Magic (A Cindy Eller Short Story Prequel) (Cindy Eller Snack). The second book is How (Not) to Kiss a Toad (Cindy Eller #1). The third book is How (Not) to Kiss a Prince (Cindy Eller #2). The fourth book is How (Not) to Kiss a Beast (Cindy Eller #3). The fifth book is How (Not) to Kiss a Ghost (Cindy Eller #4). The sixth book is How (Not) to Kiss a Gargoyle (Cindy Eller #5). The seventh book is How (Not) to Kiss a Were Bear (Cindy Eller #6/Goldie Locke and the Were Bears #4) which is the crossover book between the two series' that you must also have read the first four Goldie Books for you to understand (Baehrly Beginning (A Goldie Locke and the Were Bears Short Story) Baehrly Breathing (Goldie Locke and the Were Bears #1) Baehrly Bitten (Goldie Locke and the Were Bears #2) Baehrly Alive (Goldie Locke and the Were Bears Book #3) ) This is the eighth book.
Cindy does not trust her judgement where Timothy is concerned. She is always waiting for him to hurt her again. Or leave her again. Whichever or both maybe. Her relationship (whatever that is she's not even sure they are anything more than friends if that) with him has caused her sisters to act like she doesn't exist. They will not look at her or speak to her or even acknowledge her directions as their boss. You would think that after saving all three worlds and their lives specifically they would be more grateful! She feels unloved alone and isolated which isn't helping her feel like she is wanted or needed. Cindy feels like she is on a downward spiral of negative emotions and like she does not belong anywhere. And then there are the disappearances ...even her cat has abandoned her! What is going on? Is she really that unworthy of love? Does no one want her anymore?
This book was a convoluted puzzle that entranced and mystified me from beginning to end. I literally couldn't put the book down until I was finished! I never saw any of the conundrums coming let alone a way past them. This book was incredibly imaginative and well written. I thought I was addicted before but now I know all hope is lost! I can't wait for the next book to eat me alive!
***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers
Elizabeth A. Reeves continues the story of Cindy Eller with one last final chapter. Cindy is still torn about Timothy. She loves him, but he betrayed her and worst of all he's the heir to the dark fae throne. Timothy is at a crossroads. The war changed him, and now all he wants to do is figure out who he is before he can completely commit to Cindy. While Timothy is off trying to find himself Cindy does her best balancing being a baker and the heir of the light fae. Overall, I enjoyed this series and the spin off series about her sister Goldie. I'm sad to see the end of Cindy's story, but I hope that there will be more stories about her sisters.
We are all raised by family. Family includes parents and siblings. You have a classic case of good verses evil. But you add in magic and you have more to contend with. Cindy is a strong character who finally after fighting compulsions awakens to reality and becomes who she was before placed under a spell. She almost kills Timothy but he is part of the reason she wakes up. Sleeping Beauty awoke her prince with a kiss and Timothy helped Cindy return to her normal self with a kiss. The evil aunt gets her just reward. Dad is no longer a toad, lol! The two finally marry, yea! Enjoy the book as I did!
Another delicious Cindy book! You'll drool, you'll laugh, you'll swoon and cry! Elizabeth A. Reeves is a very creative and talented writer. The world that lives inside that head of hers is a fun and amazing one.
If you haven't read the other books, I DO recommend starting there. This one isn't written to catch you up to speed, and you'll undoubtedly feel lost and confused at times, if you haven't read any of the other books. But the other books are fantastic and fun! Well suited for a light, entertaining read. And you might find yourself hunting for pastries, or recipes for pastries...
I really enjoyed book 7 of this series. Cindy and Timothy were so good together early on in the series that it was a bit disappointing that they were having so many problems. It was nice to see them work it out and finally get the happy ending that they deserve. As the Seraphine, Cindy always had trouble making her two worlds merge the way she wanted. Now that she is the Seraphim, I am anxious to see how she makes it work. Will she have to give up the bakery? This series has been absolutely delightful so far and I am looking forward to reading more of this series.
This is an interesting book that appears to be the last of the series. It has an unexpected twist in the plot that was a bit confusing at first. It is a very enjoyable read. Be sure to read the crossover book before reading this one or you'll be missing part of the story line.
What a great wrap up to the Cindy Eller Series. I again wished for a copy editor in several areas, especially where the book seemed to switch from story to outline for a page or two. But those put aside, the story is great and I am glad I started this series on a whim because of a free book bub book.
Happily ever after...but, my oh my was it a bumpy ride to get there! Great story with a Prince who isn't always charming and a Princess who isn't always perfect. My kind of fairy tale!
A very satisfying, if predictable end to the Cindy Eller story. I have loved these characters for a long time. I am wondering ( hoping) if there will be more Goldy Locke books? Or more stories about the other sisters??
