This has been on my radar for a while, and I was intrigued by the setup. The beginning was strong, but everything faded in the second half, including the editing. The heroine has some underlying PTSD which resurfaces in an annoying fashion (yes, I know that this is close to reality), and the hero is a dolt. The action started out intense but became ridiculous.

I may read the second entry, or wait for an omnibus edition, but probably not right away.

I received a free review copy of this book.
For some reason, I expected a sci-fi. This is a romance novel with a sci-fi skin.
First and most noticeable, there’s a lot of awkward grammar: run-on sentences in need of semicolons, commas used in place of semicolons or periods, and commas that are just plain missing. Written-out numbers need hyphens, as in “twenty-two years old.” A quote can end with a manner of saying, but it shouldn’t end with another whole sentence! Also, quotes that are questions s

The sections that have 2 scores are based on the fact that I typically dislike third person & sci-fi books. I made 1) My rating for the book based how other people who like third person and sci-fi books would see it & 2) my rating based on how I would say is my opinion.
I used the 1st score as my overall score to end it with.

Grammar/Editing: 8/10
* The book was very well formatted. The points taken off were for (1) Occasions where there were misspellings, incorrect punctuation, or other things li

I could not put this book down it was SO good. I was just so enraptured with the main character Adara. She is the half-breed daughter of a human and Wayfarer. The closest thing I can compare it to would be to Gypsies. They have the same type of stigma in that they are not understood, keep very much to themselves, and have many cultural differences. When you add her heritage, to her very young age you will understand why she has a hard time finding and keeping a position even with her immense tal ...more

This book, wow. Once I started reading this, I was hooked. there was no putting it down until the very last page was read and then I was trying to see what to read next. This is an amazing read that needs to be on your TBR list, no doubt about it.

I really liked this book and how Adara managed to find a job and someone she is interested in. I don’t like some of the Barions we see as they are completely unreasonable. I loved the relationship between her and the other crew that we see as well. It’s nice to see her character open up after what happened to the Aegis.

Loving the caracters in this book quite a bit. Has me interested to see what happens to them. Loving the captain since he is a dream captain that takes my breath away. But at first I wanted to slap him in the face. Great caracter development so chapeau to Eileen.

I wasn’t sure of the settings of books being based in space but I feel Eileen has brought me around on that she writes these books well and brings the needed suspense and romance to the book

Interesting Universe Building

I hadn’t heard anything about this series or author until very recently when it was mentioned on one of the facebook groups I belong to. When I read the blurb I was sufficiently intrigued to download the sample. Once I started the sample, I couldn’t stop.

This book includes scenes of torture and rape and refers to child abuse, so if these trigger any adverse reactions in you, then avoiding the book may be in your best interest. I will say though that these dark subjec

Yes! Finally!

Oh my... I have devoured this book from beginning to end in just 3 hours! Adara grew so much in this book! I expected to be heartbroken by this book, and though there were times where my heart ached for Adara, there were also times when it rejoiced for her. The Captain is so steamy and dreamy! He is a right d*** for some of the book and I wanted so badly to slap him upside the head, but he redeemed himself eventually. Hal seemed to be one of the first reasonable person that didn't

For a series, I really love the books
I Started reading and could not put it down until the end and then I just start reading book 2.
I Love how Adara started out and how she developed in this book and in the coming books (since I am reading the series :) ) Decker was an ***hole in the beginning but became better as the story developed.
I have to say hinestly that I skipped most lovemaking scenes. They could not keep my attention. But the story is written really well.

This is a first time read for this author for me and I quite enjoyed this book! The characters meshed and had issues like one would expect on a space ship. However they as they learned the ins and outs of their new “home” they also learned how to become more than just shipmates. There is romance, conflict, warring species, blood debt, suspense, suspicion, and friendship.
