Rate this book
AMERI-GEDDON blows the whistle the political economy of the United States amid the rise of left-right populism leading up to the 2016 presidential election. The pamphlet borrows and remixes snippets of others' text to make the case for increased citizen participation in addressing society's most relevant and difficult incessant war and violence, financial crisis provoking widespread economic suffering and environmental degradation boarding on catastrophe. Traversing the intersection of two genres of contemporary art - appropriation and institutional critique - the booklet argues that to restore the promise of America, the 99% must declare their independence from the corrupt two-party system and wrest control of government from the billionaires and ethically-frozen politicians who preach the mutually related virtues of the free market and a permanent war economy.
