A MORE PERFECT UNION was a finalist in the 2015 SAN DIEGO BOOK AWARDS for romance & listed by Amazon's editors' as best books of the year.
Politics as unusual. This isn't a roadmap for Washington politics but rather was a way to find love for those who are lost. Former Miss Cherokee Nation, present Virginia Senator, Ayita Starblanket, is running against a former MLB slugger and present Florida Governor, Arturo Arnez. After circumstances force the unlikely pair together, she suspects her opponent is falling for her. Jimi Hendrix once said, “When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.” But is it that simple? If you’re looking for one more cynical political novel, sorry—not between these covers. If you’re looking for another salacious, non-organic sex fest, sorry—not under these covers. (Rated R by the author.) If you prefer to hate your way through life, you’re living in the wrong country. If you like romance in perhaps the most unusual of situations, well please buy this book. This ain’t no Pollyanna story. There’s enough grit to turn the mill and give you pause. Beware, the book lampoons your favorite political and media personalities. To begin with, it's important to point out that A More Perfect Union is a work of fiction: it's not a book about history, social justice, or even psychology, but a saga centered upon former Miss Cherokee Nation Ayita Starblanket, who is running against Florida Governor Arturo Arnez.
An unexpected focus in what looks to be a story of women in politics is a romantic twist that pits two opponents in a struggle to win hearts and minds not just of their constituents, but of each other.
At the intersection of romance and politics is a story that's witty, fun, and with a healthy dose of satirical observation on life, romance, and the stormy relationships between political figures and men and women alike. From the bombing on the first page intended to eliminate both presidential candidates until the last vote is counted on election night the reader is pulled into this fresh take on political campaigns. The author brilliantly pits a nation divided by bickering and the desires of the heart with gratifying results. Great job, RW Richards.
