This author PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED a reviewer. Because she didn't like his book.

Update: Not only did he plead guilty, but he's been sentenced to 30 months in jail. It should be twenty years. For attempted murder. Fucker.

Well, the alleged assault is no more an allegation, because this douche plead guilty.

This author attacked a woman who wrote a negative review about his work-The World Rose. Mr. Brittain stalked her and then put her in the hospital. He apologized for his behavior on his blog, but it's obvious we've seen his true colors.

Richard Brittain is vile and sick. I will not be reading any of his tainted work and will go out of my way to turn others off of him.

Incredibly dull and meandering. I need this book like I need a bottle hole in the head!

Hey, let's remember that the rule is innocent until proven guilty. It's quite possible that the author of this book was only ironically trying to kill the woman who gave him a negative review. I'm waiting until all the facts are in before I make up my mind.

Well, there have been some interesting developments. Two people wrote to me to say that Richard Brittain has started posting a story on his blog, which describes how a person a lot like him, who'd wr

An author who physically attacked someone who gave him a negative review? No freaking thank you. What a nut job. I hope she sues his sorry ass and he ends up in jail.

Recommends it for: stalkers that enjoy fairytales?
This is unfortunately one of the many examples on Amazon of inexperienced writers that treat self-publishing as a shortcut around having to spend years honing their skills, then writing and polishing a novel that's worthy of publication. The one thing that Mr. Brittain seems to have done correctly is use a spell-checker, otherwise...

1) The names the author uses are bizarrely inconsistent. Some suggest a generic semi-historic European influence like "Duncan," others are directly deriv

I am legitimately scared, guys. I wonder if I should still continue reviewing if shit like this is happening, if there is a danger of an author finding where I am and physically assaulting me. FUCK.

Deleted review because it keeps being linked to on Facebook and Twitter and I don't want to be caught up in whatever is happening. Needless to say, I didn't like the book.

This is not even funny anymore. It is completely out of hand and disgusting. By no means should someone be so brutally assaulted for simply stating their opinion. This author should be nowhere other than behind bars.

For my safety and everyone else DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. I would prefer to not get hit in the head by a Whiskey or a Bourbon bottle since a wine bottle has already been used. Psychos+Liquor = Bad Romance

I'll admit I stumbled upon this one after reading this blog post:-

Watch your online privacy people! That author you just wrote a shitty review of their book? They might come and crack you over the noggin with a wine bottle!

I've read a bit about the story, apparently Brittain was peddling his shit on Wattpad first, and when he got a luke-warm (to put it mildly) reception ther

This. Author's. Behavior. Is. Not. Okay.

Richard Brittain received a sentence of only 30 months in jail. He should have gotten 7 years for attempted murder.

This author is the perfect dictionary definition of a deranged stalker.

After receiving a negative review on Goodreads for his novel The World Rose, what did he do? Did he, say, take up creative writing classes? No. Did he go through the various criticisms that reviewers pointed out in his novel and try to overcome them in a productive manner? No.

Instead this narcissistic jerk hunted down an innocent woman and assaulted her with a wine bottle. All because of a bad review.
I personally hope this
Assualt and battery over a negative review?! The crazy - it's more than I can handle.

I had an Amazon review abut this book that basically apologized for my behavior on this forum. I believed that it was ridiculous that Richard Brittain would travel 100s of miles to assault someone for writing a bad review. I argued on the basis of no reporting, but really I thought that I was defending a mentally ill man who had only recently realized that he needed help, based on his blog. I think a lot of it had to do with just finding out that my mom was bipolar (even though that made sense a ...more

And they wonder why we freak out when we hear about an author going to a reviewer's home to "confront" them.
