The plant as described in the first book (Hunted) has withstood the test of time, surviving the ice age, extreme climates, just like the vampires and their way of life. The Kalimetal is a special weapon developed by the true leader of the council and is unique to the series. (less)

I won this book through Firstreads and I'am so glad I did. I thought this book was amazing and very original, a very different take on vampires now I look at that genre a different way and that is in a good way. It is very well written and you feel like your in the book and feeling the emotions of the characters. It as so many twist and every character as thier own story. It show's you how human's and vampires can worked together to help each other.

This is just NOT a vampire novel!

This is a totally new take on a popular genre. Very original. And the author's writing style keeps you interested and draws you in the story. Definitely a page turner. The characters were so well written that you can't help but take them with you even when you are done with the book. I love the story and can't wait for the release of the second book.

I received the ARC for The Gates Legacy, and let me tell you what a great surprise I got. I've been fan of vampire novels since I was a teenager, but let me tell you that Harrow Gates has found a new place in my heart. What a sexy vampire he is, got the charm, the compassion, what else could you ask for?

The book itself is brilliant, Lorenz Font has outdone herself with this great new series. I couldn't put this down once I started, now I'm reading the second one and I can't do spoilers but damn

Idea of these kind of vampires is really interesting and structure of this vampire race have so many possibilities.
I liked how there was so many amazing characters and you could fully get absorbed to minds of each of them.

Main characters Harrow and Jordan had each their own demons to oppress them and it was really interesting read their past and what things had led them to be persons they are now, and to read them grow even in just this story was well written and it was convincing and it didn'

For being someone who thinks that vampire novels have become seriously ridiculous, this book offered me some redemption. For once, I didn't feel like this was a simple repeat of a book that had already been written, and Lorenz Font pleasantly surprised me with the humour and wit included in this book.

Even coming into this book with the preconceived notion that I would likely be unhappy with the results, the author managed to convince me early on that this novel was going to be different and was

I didn't realize how much I love vampire novels until recently. This book continues to fuel this love affair! Jordan is a strong female who has been dealt a crappy hand. Harrow is the anti-hero that most see as weak because of his disease. The supporting characters make this story so complex you feel like you have become part of the family. The way the author describes everything you have no trouble putting yourself in their world. This is more than just a vampire book, though. We see how the ch ...more

Fanged, red-eyed creatures with a thirst for human blood? Check.

Sensitivity to sunlight and unknown to most humans? Check.

An intricately woven plot line that is sure to enthrall young and old, boys and girls alike? Check!

However, let me begin this review with one crucial warning: Don’t pull back the cover of Hunted until you are clearheaded, and will be left alone until you finish. Interruptions will not be welcome!

Hunted makes you think. This isn't a ‘sit back and enjoy the ride’ type of read;

Now, I am a HUGE fan of the vampire genre, both literary and cinematic. I’ll give most things vampiric a chance, especially if they put their own twist on the typical creatures of legend. This is the main reason I picked up Hunted, which proved true to its synopsis. It was a really interesting read that is definitely set apart from most (possibly all recent) depictions of vampires. Lorenz Font does a great job intertwining multiple character arcs together, showing how seemingly unrelated actions ...more

I want to be clear, I normally don't like books about vampires, as a matter of fact this was my first vampire book I have read. The beginning was difficult for me to follow because there were so many characters and story lines and I wasn't use to the vampire life style, BUT that was only in the beginning of the book, very shortly after that, things became clear, there was evil versus good and there was no more confusion.

Harrow is a vampire with morals and the desire to protect humanity. His life

I know that there are as many ways to look at vampires as there are people on this earth but I can honestly say I never thought of it the way Ms. Font presents it. She opens an entirely new world where vampires are pretty much ignored, if known about at all by humans. From the first scene I was entranced by Harrow and his unwillingness to succumb to a terrible virus he has had since he was first changed into a vampire. No matter how horrible his life has become and even though he is hunted by th ...more

Man, was it good to read a paranormal book after my month-long hiatus from the genre! Hunted was an awesome welcome-back book. It is unique, original and I really enjoyed reading it.

Ms. Font created amazing characters. They are the kind of characters that you either love fiercely or hate passionately. I seriously wanted to kill some of the characters, but I mostly loved all of them. They are witty, sarcastic, stubborn, kind and loving people. They are just a great family and they will make you

Hunted (The Gates Legacy #1) by Lorenz Font
Review by: Nerd Girl Amber

Let me just start of by saying, “WOW!” This book certainly had it’s own original style that just seems to draw the reader into this world and makes you not want to leave! It is a totally new take on the genre and I am quite pleased that it was not a twilight, Vampire Diaries, true blood wannabe book. The author created her own unique version and storyline to the genre. It had me on the edge of my seat. I could HONESTLY not put

Impressed beyond words with this first time published author! She has awed me with her intake and twist on the vampire genre, just when you'd think there's nothing else to write about them, an author like Font comes along and kicks you in the shins! There's so much out there to experiment with. Harrow, alongside the rest (vampires and humans alike) have already earned a place in my heart, their wittiness, smart-mouth, courage, love, and revenge are very well developed. Font drags you alongside H ...more

I started reading Hunted without much expectation for the new author, but Ms. Font surprised me. Her vivid tale held my attention from the first chapter until the last one. A true page turner from start to finish, the story and its characters, life-like, funny and entertaining, left me wanting to learn about them and their struggles. The descriptions left very little to the imagination, feeling like I was watching a movie instead of reading the book. This is a must read for everyone. I'm anxious ...more

I so loved this book! Such a interestingly new take on the vampires we all love! Tor and Harrow are hilarious! Jordan is a beautiful hot mess who steals Harrow's broken heart and Rohnert...oh I love me some Rohnert and can't wait for his book!

A great, action-packed read!

Read my interview with the gang at Tack Enterprise. Wow! Rohnert made me weak in the knees! :)

Transformation Causes Plague ... Patient Zero Of The Vampire Infection

This series must be read in order. This is the first book.

Harrow never even knew about vampires until he was attacked and turned by one. He had no idea that his life was about to be transformed into a living Hell until he woke up... Not dead and with these horrible lesions covering most of his body. He had no idea he was contagious until he started seeing more vampires afflicted like himself. So he takes precautions... No actu

as in life nothing comes easy... For Harlow even death doesn’t seem all that easy for him either. Because of his “ability” to infect humans as well as vampires, Harlow if forever looking over his shoulder. Harlow has his own demons to battle as well mostly guilt and the fact he doesn’t want to hurt anyone...he may have found a way to right the wrong.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Despite me thinking everything had been covered by a saturated vampire market Lorenz has captured a story that is quite unique. The characters I developed a soft spot for. The writing style was superb, the story flowed and it was nice and meaty. There was plenty of explanation so you knew exactly what was happening. There was one gripe and it is more a personal thing than the story to be honest. I don't want to spoil the story but something fairly big does happen ...more

~~~Dee's Review~~~
Vampire stories have never been my cup of tea. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. So, feeling a responsibility to read it, I began the journey into the vampire world with a reluctance. However, I quickly found myself engrossed and captured by the drama unfolding. While it's my first vampire story, it certainly won't be my last, totally due to the brilliant writing of Ms. Font.
The descriptions and the information needed to understand such a strange world w
I wish I there is a higher rating than 5 stars. I loved everything about the book. The premise, the twist, and the crafty way the author incorporated ‘ang mamatay ng dahil sa iyo’ theme into the story.
The action sequence is amazing. I never thought the concept of a vampire with conscience was ever possible, but Hunted made it believable. The protagonist is flawed and yet lovable. I can’t wait for the sequel.
This is an ARC from Netgalley. Thank you to the publisher and author for the read.
5 stars-only because yes I would read it again. With the hundreds and hundreds of different variations of vampire stories out there, honestly in the back of your head you expect the same ol same ol. Not with Hunted and I hope this holds true into the next book. The different spin on this book was undoubtedly its best quality.
Let me start with this book was unlike any vampire series I have read! It started a little slow for me but I quickly realized it took a moment to reveal the characters at play and why they were there. Was truly an interesting twist on vampires and good and evil within a vampire society. Well worth the read and am looking forward to reading the next book Tormented.
