Penny Watson presents a 45,000-word holiday fantasy romance, #3 in the Klaus Brothers Series. Includes paranormal phenomena, Christmas spirit, and yes...an abominable snowmonster.
SWEET ADVENTURE can be read as a stand-alone story.

She lives in Rhode Island with her Filipino-American family.
Sweet Adventure is book three in the Klaus Brothers series by Penny Watson. In this book we will get to know the toy maker of the brothers, Sven Klaus, and a tabloid reporter intent on finding out who the Klaus Brothers really are and what they are hiding, Andrea “The Pit Bull” De Luca.
Andrea is good at her job as a reporter for The Scoop, a tabloid newspaper. But that doesn’t make her love it. She had high hopes for her career as a journalist and this definitely isn’t what she envisioned. But it pays well and she has a lot of family members counting on her. Her current target is the Klaus Family. Where is their manufacturing plant? Who are their employees? Why can’t she find anything about them except a few carefully chosen press releases? So dig she will, until she finds the truth. They don’t call her Pit Bull for nothing!
Sven has lost some of the joy in producing the same toys year after year. His joy lies in beautiful hand crafted furniture and new toy innovations he is working on. But he’s afraid to tell his dad and brothers. They along with millions of children depend on him to make quality toys. To make things worse, there is a reporter hounding him for a story and nothing he seems to do is getting her off his case.
At a literacy fund raiser his family supports, he meets Andi, a beautiful woman he is instantly attracted to. He doesn’t realize it is actually the same reporter that has been hounding him.
Andi got her sister to score two tickets to the fund raiser gala without telling her the real reason she wants to go. After dropping a tracker into Sven’s pocket, Andi follows him aboard a plane and so begins the adventure of a life time.
Andi and Sven are stuck together now and embark on a journey that will both threaten their lives and bond them together. The more Andi falls for Sven, the more she is conflicted about writing the story that would reveal all his family’s secrets.
“Something about this woman had ensnared him. It was that core of vulnerability and sweetness she was trying to hide from the whole world. She couldn’t hide it from him. Not anymore.”
I loved this one. I particularly loved the way it started out and ended with the emails and texts. There is elfin magic at work here, forcing Andi and Sven together, but will they survive the adventure? Will Sven’s family understand his need to branch out with his wood working? Will Andi get the story of a lifetime and tell the world that Santa really does exist, or will she keep the secret and embark on a lifetime of sweet adventure?
Took me a while to warm up to the heroine in this one. I hope PW doesn't take much longer to get Gregori and Heather's romance, I want to know what those two have been up to!
Ho, Ho, Ho! A sweet adventure to be sure. This was alot of fun, even with an annoying, self centered main character. She's a rag reporter. Paparazzi. The Media. A liar. Bleh. 🤮 Causes all kinds of problems but it all works out in the end. The Klaus brothers are hot and worth the price of admission. Not to mention the seriously cool elves.🎄
I am so not a fan of pushy heroines and this one featured the worst one that too a tabloid reporter. I think it was only fair and right that the hero doubted her at the end given who she was and how she came into his life. These books are forgettable mindless reads.
Andi works as a tabloid reporter. It pays the bills and she is a primary supporter of her family (her sister, nephews, parents, and uncle). Andi is a creative storyteller and has good instincts. She knows something is up with Klaus Enterprises. They are hiding something and she is going to find out what. Sven is one of Santa's (many) sons. He's the principle toy maker/wood worker with dreams of doing his own, non-Christmas designs. This was a sweet Christmas themed story if you are in the mood for a holiday story. It also works as a stand-alone. The romance is a bit fast, but I didn't care too much.
A Sweet Adventure indeed!! I love the Klaus Brothers and the Elves and even Yeti!!! (I'm sure Yeti is misunderstood) The Klaus stories are magical, hair raising, filled with Love!! The hard part is waiting until next year!!!
Fans of The Klaus brothers books will eat this one up. Penny has an engaging writing style that's a bit quirky but uber-adorable. Sweet Adventure is a feel good adventure with a touch of suspense with killer ice plants and Yeti that wants to make intruders deady.
Andi may appear to be a soulless tabloid reporter who makes up stories about farfetched people and situations (think aliens from space and Bigfoot attacking hikers). But underneath it all, Andi has a soul of a poet and writes these ridiculous over the top unbelievable stories because she needs the money to help her family, including her recently widowed sister and her two twin sons. Andi thinks if she can find out the real scoop about the Klaus family, she'll have the story of the year. but Sven, the head toymaker has other ideas.
Sven wants to make furniture instead of just toys (He reminds me of Aidan from Sex and the City *rowl*). He currently has a bad case of the blahs. But when he goes to a charity function hosted by his family, he meets Andi and has stars (and lust) in his eyes. he doesn't realize she's the annoying tabloid reporter who won't leave him alone. Sparks fly between the two before Sven has to head back home. Andi sneaks into his plane, and that's when chaos ensues.
Sven and Andi are forced to rely on one another through a dangerous snow storm, scary plants that will freeze a person to death, and the monstrous Yeti. But passion collides for Sven and Andi. Does Sven reveal to Andi how he's one of Santa's sons and the behind the scenes factory with the elves who make their great toys?
Sweet Adventure is simply sweet. Penny's characters are so likable, even though I felt Sweet Adventure was too short, especially when it came to Sven and Andi falling in love. There wasn't enough time for their connection, and the "I love you's" were too fast. But their love scene were great, and at the end I did feel Sven had found his one true love with Andi.
Those looking for a great holiday read, need to check out Penny Watson and the hunky Klaus brothers.
Very well written and edited stand-alone story with no cliffhanger, but the foundation is set for the story of the next brother.
This is a story of the joy and burden of family, love-at-first sight, and that even the most jaded can be redeemed by the power of Christmas. This story is sweeter and less erotic than the first two in the series, but this brother is probably more romantic and sentimental than the first two brothers.
Strongly recommended for fans of burly hippies, smart sassy women and the North Pole.
Sadly, this book didn't have the intrigue and conflict of the second book in the series, and it felt so much shorter than that book as well. Sven and Andi were an unlikely couple, and this book didn't really give me much to work with in terms of their romance. It felt implausible at best. Thing of it was, I kinda enjoyed the book despite these flaws! All things considered, while I wish it was more than what it was, it was a good way to spend an afternoon!
This is the last one I have of this series…..BOOOOO the next one won’t be out until next Christmas! I may not make it! Although this story is about a full hundred pages shorter than the previous novel, Sweet Magik, the author keeps you on your toes in this story. She showcases her talent for action once again, to great effect. I enjoyed this story. We don’t really get a dose of the elves this time, we focus almost completely on the couple - Sven and Andi. The dynamic between them is most enjoyable, and made for a read that left you wanting more and more.
Unlike the previous two books, which took place one right after the other, it’s obvious that some time has passed since Christmas in this book. A good bit of time too, as Nicholas and Lucy, the couple from the first book, now have a baby girl, Noelle.
Some people don’t like the email or diary format that some books use these days. Fortunately I do. The first chapter of this book is written in dueling emails, and serves to introduce us to the female protagonist/antagonist (however you want to look at it) and reacquaint us with the Klaus that this book focuses on, Sven. Sven is the head toymaker for the Klaus operation, but he has a guilty secret - he’s really not all that into the toys anymore. No, his great love is for making highly detailed and beautiful furniture, furniture that is both art and useful. He has been secretly making plans to open his own studio in New York to showcase and sell his work. His family has no idea, and keeping it from them is beginning to wear on him. After all, at the end of the year, Santa is retiring and one of the brothers has to step up to fill the big man’s shoes. He feels that he would be letting his family down to let them know that he is becoming disenchanted with the one job that he does for them.
Andi - Andrea De Luca - is a tabloid journalist, but that is not the initial reason she gets in contact with Sven and the Klaus family. She purchases one their products for her nephew, and is most pleased with the quality of the toy. She writes to say thanks - and to ask for an interview. They put her off, because granting interviews about Santa’s workshop could lead to trouble, ya think? Being put off does nothing but put her antennae up, and she begins to wonder - just what are they trying to hide? Andi has secrets of her own to protect, and people who depend on her. Her parents, her uncle, her recently widowed sister and her two small nephews...Sven isn’t the only one with the weight of responsibility hanging on their shoulders. She does what she does for one reason, the money. She has completely made up most of her “body of work” which includes her biggest piece, which is, ironically, about a Yeti. Her work has changed her from the dreamer and poet that she used to be into a cynical reporter, suspicious of every motive behind every open hand and bright smile. The email campaign with Klaus Enterprises turns not necessarily ugly, but very curt, and eventually Sven thinks she has given up. Oh contraire, she has merely changed tactics, and has managed to score tickets (through her sister Hannah) to a children’s literacy benefit that the entire Klaus family will be attending.
This is where the story really kicks into gear. Sven notices Andi from across the room, just as his brother Gregor (the financier of the family) is drawn to Hannah. Like magnets, those two are. I’m dying for the next book because I know it will be about them. Andi is attracted to Sven, he’s not quite the the laid back hippie she was expecting. No, she compares him more to a lion, blond and bearded, with intense eyes and broad shoulders. (All of these guys are described looking like the Brawny man!)
Despite her intense interest in him she manages to keep her mind on her task and slip a tracker into his pocket. She is determined to find the Klaus toy factory, and expose all of the dirty secrets that she’s sure are hidden there. She slips out of the benefit, leaving her sister a text that she wasn’t feeling well. Sven gets an urgent call that he needs to get back to the shop asap. Also his sleigh is busted and he will have to take another route, by plane, but he needs to hurry because there is a huge storm on the way.
Sven isn’t happy about it, but he takes off for the airport, unaware that Andi is on his heels. She cashes in a favor from a source to get into the cargo hold of the plane. Once they are in the air she is captured by the crew and brought up to the cabin. Sven is furious to find out that the pretty girl that he spent the night dancing with and wishing he could spend more time with is really the annoying reporter he thought he had managed to shake off the scent of his family. He cannot deny his attraction to her though, and is not nearly as cold to her as he could have been. They land in Alaska where they are told that the airport is in the process of shutting down for the storm. They won’t be getting out of there anytime soon. Sven has to make a hard decision - does he take her with him to Glasdorf the back way, through a tunnel, or leave her there in the airport. There are no hotels anywhere, and no flights to take her back to New York. He sends a text to the elves to turn off the defenses in the tunnel, and hopes that it gets through. Andi is understandably freaked out when she realizes that they are driving out into a Category 5 blizzard, but her confusion is only beginning. The back route to Glasdorf is through a rail system set into a tunnel that runs all the way to the Arctic Circle. On the way to Glasdorf they get to know each other better, and he is on the very edge of telling her the truth when they are attacked. The text obviously didn’t go through and there is no way to explain the frost flowers attacking them without explaining it all. Yes, I said frost flowers, flowers made of ice, that will burn you and cut you, and are looking very hard to kill you. Sven himself is haunted by an earlier encounter with them, and Andi is likely to have some repercussions as well. These things are pretty ruthless. Finally they fight the worst of them off and continue on their way, bleeding and soaked and (in Andi’s case) completely terrified. She’s hypothermic, so Sven uses the best method to warm her up - body heat. Sparks fly, and they have no problem heating each other up **snicker** all the rest of the way to Glasdorf.
They reach the end of the tunnel only to find that it has collapsed under the weight of the snow above. They have to climb up and out in a total white out to the gates. They make it up out of the tunnel only to face the last defense - yep, you guessed it, Yetis. This isn’t Bumble from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer folks, these things are vicious and both of them are injured before reaching safety. They make it inside the city and to safety, but that only opens up another can of worms. The council and Sven’s dad are all furious that he would bring a tabloid reporter to Glasdorf. They feel that there is no way she can be trusted. The Council calls a Tag der Rache (Day of Reckoning, they did this in the first book also) to judge Sven’s actions and determine whether Andi can be trusted. Sven is already in love with Andi (and she with him) and objects to anyone questioning her word. The elves have a method of wiping Suddie’s memories, but that would erase everything, including her memories of Sven. Will Sven be exiled to the Sudenweld?
Yep, I’m stopping there. As I mentioned before, this book is action packed. Where I stopped is only about halfway through the book, so be assured there is plenty more story to discover for yourself.
I didn’t expect to enjoy this series half as much as I did, but I sure am glad that Barb and I picked it up for Christmas reading. The author has grown throughout the series and you can tell a marked difference between the first installment of the series and this one. She has other books as well, this is not her only work. The language in the first one occasionally comes off as cheesy, which is a common downfall of romance novels. There is none of this in this novel. It comes off as smartly written and although the material is admittedly fantastical, it’s written believably. This whole series has been a fun read for me, and I will be waiting (IMPATIENTLY) for the next chapters in this series’ story.

Heather's Notes I really like these books. Sven was really sweet. Andi was not my favorite heroine, but she wasn't horrible either. I can't read to read the next one.
The Klaus Brothers series by Penny Watson is a complete joy to read. Filled with steamy romance, generous doses of magic and touches of adventure, the series is sure to delight everyone at any time of the year, Christmas season or not. Immerse yourself in the Klaus family, you won't be sorry you did.
4 and a half stars as well! This was so cute, and the 'adventure' was fun to read. I was almost afraid to start it because I didn't know if I'd like Andi. No worries, she's great. I must read the next one now!
This is a short, cute story. I was a little horrified that the main character wanted to persue the article even when it was discovered that the Klaus family wasn't hiding anything dangerous or criminal.
I would recommend this book as a light holiday read.
I just love Penny Watson's books and Sweet Adventure isn't the exception. I've been dying to read it for so long and it was what I wanted: A fun, sexy and sometimes sweet Christmas romance.
Andi De Luca is a reporter and wants to uncover the truth about Klaus Enterprises. Who works for them? Nobody knows! So she wants to interview Sven Klaus, Chief Toy Designer for Klaus Enterprises.
The problem is he doesn't want an interview, and Andi always get her story. But after feeling attraction at a party, and Andi following him to his home, the North Pole, Sven can't shake her off and maybe he doesn't want to....
Andi may appear cold-heart at first, only interested in the story, but she really is a caring and good person. Sven wasn't sure of that until the end, and I was a little bit mad with him for that but I guess I can forgive him because of his long hair...and the great surprise at the end. I wanted the story to be longer so they could get to know better because at first I thought their romance was going too fast but in the end it felt like what they had was true love and should be together forever.
I love this series, Klaus Brothers, and I'd definitely recommend Sweet Adventure if you are looking for a holiday romance with the exact amount of fun, sparks, sexiness and sweetness.
Penny Watson books always make me laugh. And sigh. And also realize how awfully sexy beards can be. No matter what book of her’s I pick up I know it’ll be quirky and fun. Sweet Adventure is the third book in her Christmas themed Klaus Brothers series and features the hippie, Birkenstock wearing Sven and the tabloid reporter he falls in love with.
When I started this one I hadn’t read the previous two books in the series, but I was so utterly charmed by the super sexy son of Santa that I went back and bought the box set to catch myself up. Be warned there’s elves, magic sleighs, a Yeti and some mystical, secret tunnel in-the-midst-of-danger lovin’. The hero is a bearded hunk who’s not quite as laid back as he first appears to be and our heroine can’t help but totally fall for him almost immediately. You’ll definitely be surprised by Santa and Mrs. Klaus. Simply adorable.
Favorite Quote:
Tears leaked down her cheeks. “I better get a really kick-ass present from Santa this year. Really kick-ass. Like a Lamborghini or something.”
I think I have said sweet about them all, but hey, sweet is in the title!!
A sweet novella set before xmas :) There is romance, and a tiny adventure.
But ok the book. Sven is a toy-maker, but he wants to make furniture instead. Andi is a pitbull who has sniffed out a story. Honestly, Sven was adorable and cute. Andi, eh, do you really go from they do not want an interview to they are for certain the mafia who employs kids. She sure has a wild imagination...but, here is the but. She needs to make money for her family. I get that. And she does see the light and fall in love.
The tiny adventure is when they take a trip... ;)
This was really their story, falling in love, the drama thing and then living happily ever after. Nice.
Oh oh, I really like how it started and ended with emails. So fun to read.
Once again not really set around Christmas. However, Santa is there and so are elves and the North Pole so it’s still got that vibe. It’s a pass as a holiday book, but barely.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Sven, especially after my feelings for Oskar, but I really warmed up to him. Watson describes him as a hippy but he’s not the image of a stereotypical tree hugger that pops into my mind. At least not by the end of the book.
Andi was fine, very intrepid reporter thinking about her story until she falls in love. There was no spanking in this one so I liked that lol
Enjoyed the ending and it’s clear what the next one will be about. I’m curious to see how Gregor does with Andi’s sister and how the family thing ends up working out.
I think I've fallen more and more in love with the Klaus family the more books I've read. Penny Watson has done an amazing job and I'm in love with the family. I'm so excited to read about Gregor and Wolfie. I think Sweet Adventure is my favorite so far out of the series, there was so much going on and it was brilliant and not at all what I was expecting.
Sven is an amazing artist and his work sounds amazing, I would love to see it come to life in something real. Andi is a bit aggravating at the beginning, but I wind up loving her and Sven both and their romance. (Though I love all the Klaus Brother's romances!)
Another good book in this series. I do enjoy the Klaus Brothers and the elves. A bit surprised the heroine was a tabloid reporter. A couple things bugged me a bit which kept this from getting 4 stars
More like 3-1/2 stars for what I thought were inconsistencies, but still an entertaining story and a good addition to the series. I hope we don't have to wait as long for the next one, because i really want to know what's up with Gregor and Hannah!
Super short. a lot shorter than the first two, which was kind of a good thing. I saw myself skimming and stalling reading the first two, but this one didn't drag at all.
In saying that, it also put the romance into warp speed, making it less believable.
I loved Sven but I was't a big fan of Andi. This is a good holiday read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, I hope it comes out soon.
