Before I sat down to write this review, I spent at least 30 minutes venting about it to my mom (my sounding board) and she told me to write exactly what I said to her. So, here goes...
I hated this book! HATED!! (Until I spoke to my mom, I really actually considered giving it a 1 or 2, but after my vent, I decided that a neutral 3 would be just fine). It wasn't that I don't love YA books or fantasies because I do. It's not that I'm an adult and I just don't get it because that's not true either. It wasn't because I didn't WANT to love this book because I truly did. It's just...
This is a story about a young girl in high school. She has a sister, a mom, a dad and two best friends. She's the really smart nerdy one, whereas her sister is the beautiful athletic one. She goes unnoticed, her sister is one of the most popular. And her parents love her sister more, have no qualms proving this fact - though they can't see how she could possibly come to that conclusion. Right before homecoming, things change - she meets up with her old best friend who she hasn't seen since the family moved away (across town, not to the other side of the planet, yet they haven't talked since?) and all of a sudden she's going over to the friend's house to spend the night, the friend is making her a dress for homecoming and fixing her up with her cousin.
Homecoming is where I decide that I hate this book and I honestly almost put it down, not to pick it up again. It was so ... stupid. Fantasies are meant to be unrealistic, but this is so farfetched that it's not possible for me to even believe a little bit of it. Her friend fixes her up and she's beautiful. She goes downstairs with the friend to meet her date and *rolls eyes* she just can't stop looking (and thinking - this is 1st person) about how gorgeous he is. She even says to him "I've missed you so much" and he replies "Not as much as I've missed you." What?!?! And she doesn't find anything weird about this exchange. Then her, the girl who is a member of the CSI club and no one notices, somehow becomes Junior Homecoming Princess, beating out the popular girl who had been Homecoming Princess the last two years? Unrealistic. (And no I'm not giving away the whole book here, so don't worry. This all happens in like the first 10% of the book.)
Not only is it stupid, but the writing is really - I don't want to say childish because that's rude - young, the writing is young. Yes it's YA, but they're in high school and it reads like a book for children or middle school. And for her being the smartest girl in school, she comes across really *shrugs* dumb and immature - I mean everything changes with this homecoming dance. I had to force myself to read on and I only did that because I wanted to understand what was going on with her, not out of any real character connection.
That's another thing. The characters are very um boring. There was nothing to them.
There were two parts that caught my attention: the whole thing with Tanner - he opened up questions because he knew too much. The situation with Emma and Hailey - that was Mean Girls-ish, but interesting as it played out.
What's sad is that there's a good story idea here. She's having these strange occurrences and I really didn't expect the reason behind it, but it just wasn't ... let's put it this way: me, the person who HAS to finish a series, has absolutely no interest in reading the rest of the series. That says a lot.

I actually really liked this book. It's a shame I cannot get the rest of the books to see how it ends and all. Now on to The Black Parade.

Not a bad vampire story. The beginning was a little shaky with editing issues, but the story was an interesting take on vampires. I look forward to reading Betrayal, the next book in the series.

My Thoughts:
This is the most dysfunctional/ disorganized book I have ever read! Honestly there were so many issues with this book. First they were minor things, but soon they kept piling up, and became frustrating. I had an issue with almost everything thing in this book, which is such a shame since I really liked the book Gone by this author.
Format, Organization, and Plot:
Okay, to say that this book has no form of organization is an understatement. Seriously the book was all over the place, it kept jumping from one subject to the next in a matter of a few pages. There was no chronicle order in this plot, though the plot itself was a actually really good and creative, it just wasn't executed properly by the author. Most books build up the suspense or hype up the story-line, but with this book it felt like everything was rushed and there were too many things going on. First Alexis unknowingly breaks things with her mind, then her friend who she hasn’t seen in years pops up, tells her that she can take her cute “cousin” to homecoming, becomes popular, finds out that one of her friends is deceiving her, plus just to had a little bit more to the story-line, her whole life was a lie. That all happened within the first 10 out of 29 chapters of in the book. Timeliness of a book is huge to me, events need to be spread out in a timely manner, and not all in a few minutes.
The Characters:
Alexis has to be one of the pettiest character I have ever read. She complained about how her parents get her sister the better and more expensive things, while she had to work for it, but she didn’t have to work for those things. In the book her Dad says that the reason why they never got her nice things, is because she never gave her the opportunity. She bought a lousy car before her parents could, so of course they would buy her sister a nice one. She is too jealous of her little sister for reason, at times it seemed as though she was the younger one, she kept comparing how hardworking she was unlike her sister all the damn time. Cliff was a weird character to me, I really didn’t under his purpose in the book, like I knew why he was needed and stuff, but I felt he could have left behind, but of course it wouldn’t be considered a YA novel without some form of romance (eye roll). Overall there was no real connect between any of the characters.
Ending/ Final Thoughts:
The ending in this wasn’t to bad. It was interesting and left you wanting to read read the next book, but I will not be reading the next book because overall this was a terrible book. All in all this book could have been decent, if the author cut back on some of the drama. She had too many little things going on in the book that didn’t need to be there. The book had potential, but it was poorly written.

Really? So there's this high school girl who starts developing paranormal abilities, and there's weird thing going where her parents really, really give preferential treatment to her little sister, and it all turns out to be because...she's a royal-born vampire child, specially blessed to be able to be out in daylight and to grow up "normally". See, there's a plot to kill her, because she's the fulfillment of a prophecy that...oh, forget it.

Deception is a really apt description for this drivel
This was bad. Really bad. I hated it. It was so cliched that it has replaced the definition of cliche in the dictionary. Gawds. The heroine was so perfect, she was smart and every one was jealous of her. She won homecoming queen even though no one had ever noticed her until the event. Everyone wants to please her because she is the vampire princess. She fell in love after seeing some guy then fell in love with another guy. She suddenly became the ultimate killing machine. The whole book was confusing. Anything that made no sense somehow become part of the prophesy. She was legit asked if the way she killed a random guy was how the prophesy described it.
I can only give one advice; Stay away.

I started this book and was excited for a fantasy novel that was original and not like everything that I'd read before. So when it was revealed that this book was about vampires I was disappointed. Thinking 'ugh, another vampire love story'. But the fact is that this book did remain original even though it was about vampires. I tore through it and I really did love all the twists on vampires that it contained. I would pick up the series for this vampire series.

Summary: Light bulbs keep bursting when the MC is upset—wonder why that happens? I get it, must be the MC has some paranormal powers, but I need more than this to make me yearn for chapter two. I received a free copy and I thank the author for allowing me to read her work. It wasn’t interesting enough for me to continue.

I read the prequel/prologue to this new series, actually, Stacy kindly states at the end that by starting at chapter 7 in the next book, you will be able to start right up! she also asks for readers to let her know of any editing errors - Thank you!
After the world building, the story picks up quickly! Alexis is a not your typical teen, she seems driven and strong, deals well with what life is throwing at her! And its throwing stuff in spades!
All of her life Alexis has been living a lie, she is finding she has 'mysterious powers' and is determined to get to the bottom of what is going on. Why has she been treated differently than her sister for her entire life? Why aren't her achievements recognized by her parents? Who is she? What's with the popping light bulbs?
One night things begin to come to life for Alexis...and an entire new world is opened up to her and it includes romance!
There is a huge potential for this series!

The novel drags so badly. I put it down at 20% and picked it back up months, maybe even a year, later only to put it down again at 34%. Maybe I'm just not the target audience, but aside from the pace, the MC has suddenly gotten too big for her britches. The condescending way she calls Tanner "a mere mortal" is inconsistent with someone who has believed herself to be mortal for her whole life. Her friends are ridiculous in drawing out her training. There should be a scheduled sit down every day for Vampire Royalty 101 until she gets all the info. And where are the adults???!!! Why are the *children* quarterbacking her training? Makes no sense. Infuriating. So i'm done.

I thought this book had potential at the beginning but as the story went on, I started to really not like the main character Alexis. She was too whiny and obnoxious and never listened to anyone even after expressing how dangerous it was for her to go out into the world on her own. It just got tiresome listening to her constantly say that she knew it was a bad idea and shouldn't do it, but does it anyways, then later regrets it and tries to apologize. Over and over and over again. Sorry, but I don't think I will continue this series based on this book.

This book is a dumpster fire.
I could begin with Stacy Claflin isn’t the strongest writer in the world after reading three of her books but this one in particular was a real treat.
First of all, it took me almost a month to read. It’s only 29 chapters which I should’ve been easily able to disperse over three days time but no, this book took me almost a month because it was so boring to pick up.
Mainly because the plot kept changing. One minute it’s about a girl discovering she has powers. Then she finds out she’s a vampire. But she’s also a princess. But she’s also the chosen one. Then it’s a love triangle story. Also people, bad vampires, are trying to kill her. But there’s also high school drama and mean girls. And then we’re back to people trying to kill her. And then the ending just changes the direction of the entire series.
If all of that interested you than by all means, read this book, but if that sounds kinda like a dumpster fire then just don’t. Instead read this review and you’ll know everything you need to know about the book.
Alexis, the main character. It your run-of-the-mill Stacy Claflin character. A nice blank slate kind of character but at the same time a totally unique individual. Unlike Victoria of Lost Wolf and Mercy of Haunted, Alexis is not athletic in the least. No, she’s book smart, member of the CIA club and cares more about college applications then going to parties.
All of that would be fine if it didn’t come off as a “I’m Not Like Other Girls” syndrome. Which discovering she’s secretly a vampire princess descended from the most powerful vampire ever doesn’t help. Like is the trope you didn’t use?
The next problem with Alexis, is despite being super smart, she lacks common sense a lot of the time. She complains about literally everything from her parents favoring her sister when in reality she just does everything for herself, so her parents didn’t get a chance to. Then she continues to complain about nobody telling her anything about being a vampire. Well maybe if she had been adamant about learning to begin with and not going on dates with her one true love, Cliff (worst name for a vampire prince in the history of vampire princes).
But to a point, I do agree with Alexis, nobody was telling her anything but expecting her to just sit there until they got around to telling her. Which makes no sense. Then here comes Tanner, her other love interest whom promises to tell her about vampires and then after exposing her to blood too early, allows her to drink from him.
Now I liked Tanner more than Cliff for a number of reasons. The main one being, their relationship developed organically, not loaded with insta-love like her and Cliff. That being said, Alexis is still a dumb bitch that makes the likes of Celeana Sardothion and Bella Swan look like geniuses.
The fact that Alexis stops worrying about becoming a vampire and being a princess to deal with some petty high school drama, shows how shallow the character was and also how this book had no direction.
I’m struggling to explain the events of the book. But I still have so many questions... Like what are the powers vampires can have? And makes the powers of royal vampires different? One minute royalty are born with the ability to go out in the sun, next we learn it’s a blessing done by a powerful witch. And do not get me started on how basic and boring Stacy portrays witchcraft, like JK Rowling tried harder and she’s got them celebrating Christmas and Easter for six out of the seven books.
Oh, back to Alexis for one minute. While practicing her vampire skills, she’s hiding in a tree when she hears her adoptived sister, Natalie with a guy. She overhears them talking, smoking weed and making out. Then the guy wants him and Natalie to have sex, but Natalie says no. This guy literally starts smacking her and it’s implied that he was going to force himself on her. Alexis jumps down from the tree, grabs him and threatens him that if he ever touches Natalie again, she’ll kill him.
THEN SHE LETS HIM TAKE HER SISTER HOME.
If you thought the Twilight books romanticized abuse, Deception condones it as long as promises to stop under dying via supernatural being.
Oh let’s not forget Tanner’s horrible experience with bullying in which a rumor was started that was *gasp* gay! Because in Tanner’s generic dude bro mind being rumored to be gay is the same thing as being rumored to have an STD. Yikes.
Also Alexis compares turning into a vampire aka a monster also according to her is the same as havinf bipolar disorder because (wait for it) mood swings. Again, I repeat, yikes.
And that’s barely scratching the service of garbage that was in this dumpster. It takes nearly twenty chapters for any sort of threat to show up and then not only do we save everyone (but Steve) but Tanner has turned into a vampire because bullshit and the bad guys in who wanted Alexis killed are all dead.
And now if Alexis doesn’t choose Cliff over Tanner, Cliff’s parents are gonna declare war against Alexis real birth parents or “vamparents” for the throne. And Alexis can still rule over the throne because she turned Tanner herself making him a vampire of royal blood. Which could have been a cool story on it’s own if not written by Stacy Claflin.
I originally read this for fun and ended up hating it so much that it gets a one star.

I just remembered that Alexis & Cliff were promised to each other when Cliff was seven and Alexis was a baby. So in the present story, Alexis is 17 and Cliff is 24. Triple yikes. Also he was in love with her since the moment she was born which is gross.

And that’s barely scratching the service of garbage that was in this dumpster. It takes nearly twenty chapters for any sort of threat to show up and then not only do we save everyone (but Steve) but Tanner has turned into a vampire because bullshit and the bad guys in who wanted Alexis killed are all dead.
And now if Alexis doesn’t choose Cliff over Tanner, Cliff’s parents are gonna declare war against Alexis real birth parents or “vamparents” for the throne. And Alexis can still rule over the throne because she turned Tanner herself making him a vampire of royal blood. Which could have been a cool story on it’s own if not written by Stacy Claflin.
I originally read this for fun and ended up hating it so much that it gets a one star.
Edit:
I just remembered that Alexis & Cliff were promised to each other when Cliff was seven and Alexis was a baby. So in the present story, Alexis is 17 and Cliff is 24. Triple yikes. Also he was in love with her since the moment she was born which is gross.

Alexis is an ambitious sixteen-year-old girl and everything seems to be going well with her. Then, things start to get crazy. First, she meets a stranger on a blind date and feels as if she has known and loved him all her life. Then, she is told that she is transforming into a vampire and that she is truly a princess. She has to learn to control her powers, along with finding out how to control herself from the thirst.
Alright, so I have waited for a while to actually finish and review this book, simply because I had issues with it. I will start by saying that I didn't hate this book completely, I just didn't personally like Alexis as a person. This made it really difficult for me to like this story.
Alexis is told that she is a vampire. When she is exposed to blood by a boy named Tanner, she goes crazy and has to be restrained by Cliff (the lover boy) and her other vampire friends (including Brooke and Steve). They take her home and lock her in a room so that she doesn't kill anyone. Rather than realizing that they are doing this for her own good and so they can restart the blood exposure process, she escapes and ends up killing somebody. Then she gets mad at them for locking her up like a prisoner. They locked her up to try to PREVENT her from hurting someone, and it was literally for one night. This was when I started to dislike her.
She started the book basically saying that she had a bad family life and that her parents liked her sister more. This was eventually proven untrue as they say that the only reason why she didn't get a car was that she bought one before her parents could buy her one, and they buy her a car later. So, as you can see, she likes to jump to conclusions a lot more than she should.
Later in the book, she invites the boy named Tanner to basically be her human blood donor, because she still refuses to listen to the people who are trying to help her and who are saying that the blood is something she needs to be weaned off of. She ends up kissing Tanner after taking blood from him one time, and she breaks Cliff's heart. Cliff, the guy who has literally been faithful to her since they were children. He wouldn't even kiss her because he wanted to respect her and not make her uncomfortable. He leaves before he ends up arguing with her, and she goes into the typical YA girl "he broke up with me" sadness. However, I don't think she really had the right to stay in bed and not shower/barely eat for a week, because Cliff did not break up with her. She cheated on him, broke his heart, but the story makes me want to feel bad for HER.
Overall, these were just a few of the issues I had with Alexis. The rest of the plot was pretty engaging and I did enjoy reading the book, but I just couldn't get over Alexis' character. I won't be continuing with this series, and I wouldn't recommend it if you pay attention to your characters like this. However, if you just want a book to pass the time, this one was actually a pretty long ebook that used up quite a bit of time.

This was an alright story, at least the first half was interesting…after that it seemed to go downhill with mistakes. First off, I wasn’t a fan of Alexis. At first, she’s this nerdy, constantly feeling sorry for herself girl, then suddenly she’s a smart ass, full of herself, bitch. I’m sure all the ‘my princess’ talk didn’t help her ego.
This was the first story so far, out of this bunch, that had a lot of errors; either involving forgetting a word or adding in the wrong word. Maybe it was just me but I felt the author used a ton of repetition. For example, “This time it's not just a practice....Hopefully there won't be any exploding lights this time." Or all the 'homes' mentioning in such a short span. "Someone needs to move into one of our HOMES....One of our HOMES, which is a block away...How many homes do you own....I'll move into that HOME..." Or with all the ‘silver oozed’ or ‘oozing silver blood’….
Questions/Comments:
1. How does someone go from a normal life to finding out they’re a vampire princess and not really bother to ask any questions? That’s how Alexis was most of the time. She has such an important role that the other vampires keep telling her about, she lives in a castle she’s going to be the future queen, there’s a bad guy who’s been looking for her and wants to kill her, want should she be doing when she has a blood craving…any questions? Of course not!
2. Considering Alexis wasn’t close to her family, prior to knowing who she really was, why were they at Brooke’s house when she was getting ready for homecoming? I found that strange.
3. With the flashbacks of Cliff and Alexis/Marguerite when they were kids, I never got the impression either was 10 or 3. They both spoke like they were older. Questions…how was Cliff ‘in love’ with Alexis at such a young age? IDK, but every time that was mentioned, him being in love with her…just seemed strange.
4. Why was it hard for me to believe that Alexis had jewelry cleaner?
5. Cliff was constantly whining about the fact that he had been waiting so long for Alexis…so why did he wait so long before showing up and introducing himself to Alexis.
6. If Cliff knew what was going to take place between Alexis and an unknown male…why would he have stayed away for so long? He didn’t even try to change things and yet, was still mad when he found out about her kissing Tanner. Act like a baby much Cliff?
7. I never understood why Clara seemed to be pushing Alexis to go to Tanner, since Cliff wasn’t around. Telling her to get to know Tanner more…yes, because she already knew so much about Cliff at that point. How long had he been around? Like a week.
8. What exactly was with Alexis after she woke up after her first blood craving experience, in a locked room? She kept saying how they’d treated her like a prisoner and all but I thought she was overreacting.
9. How long had Samantha been gone before Tanner went up to Alexis? It couldn’t have been very long considering they knew she was going through her transformation and that had just started.
10. After Alexis' b-day party at the restaurant, she picks out a new car...then...goes out to eat? Again?
11. At one point Alexis was craving blood. She's runs around, trying to get the feeling to go away, and "I felt my teeth return to normal and the burning sensation dissipate...” She got the craving to go away, so why did she call Tanner?
12. I think the part of the story where it seemed to do a nosedive was when Alexis was being so obvious that had something more going on…reading Hailey’s mind and then attacking her in her bedroom at night…by repeatedly biting her? Really Alexis?
13. Why didn’t Alexis ever try to contact Cliff sooner, after seeing him in the cabin?
14. I don’t get how Tanner changed so drastically. Being a jock jerk, then suddenly turning into the compassionate best friend, wanting to be boyfriend. Tanner seemed very strange when he decided to walk Alexis to her classes...constantly referring to her as a beautiful girl when someone would say or do something to her. At first I thought, like with typical vampires, they could use humans to do their bidding or weird puppet kind of thing...like she had control over Tanner. But that wasn't the case.
15. When Alexis gets away from Adam, why exactly didn’t she want anyone to know where she was? I mean, common sense would tell you to contact them for help? Yet, after she gets Tanner back, she heads off to find a witch to bless the jewelry and seems to automatically know where her house is? Speaking of jewelry, how did she know the witch would be able to bless it?
16. How did Alexis never wonder or ask how about how Adam was able to turn into a bunch crows?
17. So before meeting the 3 vamps that showed up in the foreclosure house, Tanner and Alexis are hiding on the ceiling in the corner? Huh?
18. When Clara is tracking Alexis and Tanner in the woods, she ends up telling them that she had been looking for them for important news she had. So…why didn’t she just yell out for them?
19. The necklace box in Cliff’s bed….yeah, it couldn’t have been as important or special as what the author wanted the reader to believe because it wasn’t hidden in the bed, it was just under the blanket…which she easily felt when she laid down on it.
20. When Alexis goes to rescue Cliff from Samantha and Vincent…why did Vincent keep slapping Samantha? I didn’t understand that.
21. The weirdest moment in the story……..Alexis and Cliff are looking around for more bad to kills…they go into a room with a large table and surprise! All the good guys are in it, wondering if they’d killed Vincent or not… HUH? I felt like I’d skipped a bunch of pages or something.

A good start to the series!

Um wow… this was terrible.
This was Wattpad quality (not good Wattpad either)
The writing is rife with problems. This is supposed to be YA but was written at a second grade reading level (I’m not exaggerating). There are many word proximity issues (when a single word, generally a noun, is used too frequently on a single page), glaring typos, and clunky, awkward sentences at every turn.
I’m honestly impressed with how bad this was. lol! (A little obsessed truthfully)
Besides the horrendous writing the dialogue sounds like it’s written by aliens the majority of the time. (Other than a few stand out sentences). Some of these characters hint at having actual dimension but it’s squashed by (I’m sorry to say) incompetent writing. The main character is not relatable, believable, nor charming. She gets worse as the book goes.
The plot is fine-ish... but it’s been done before and much better.
And that was probably the WORST ending I’ve ever read in a book. It basically cut off mid conversation!
Such a weird book! Absolutely NEEDED an editor. I’m stunned.

Okay. I know I say this a lot but: I REALLY NEED THE FREAKING SECOND BOOK
4.5 stars!

I'm not exactly useful.
Okay, spoiler, I didn't like the whole love triangle thing. But I like the ending. Nothing was so shocking, . Yes. That was shocking but I got over it fast. Next, I didn't like Alexis all that much. Or Clifford for that matter. I mean, at first, he was extremely alluring, and at the end too, but I don't know. I really like him, though. Actually I liked everyone. But nothing could beat my love for Clara. I love girls like her. She reminded me of Chris from TATBILB somewhat but I really love her! I love the change of events with her sister and the whole family setup grew a bit confusing.
Overall, if I am to point out flaws, that would be Alexis. From start up to the last pages. She improved, yes, but not in a really impressing way. She ended up as a just fine character, and actually, a lot of them did. This is like, my third or fourth vampire book, I'm not really into paranormal but I am kinda opening up myself more to this genre, as well as sci-fi. Well, I read more sci-fi than vampires, to be honest, but it's still the same.
The book had a fine plot, nothing too new, but not much of the usual stuff too - aside from the main story background: nobody-to-somebody main character, love triangle, super special heroine, perfectly weird characters.. those kinds of stuff.
But I really don't know who I'm rooting for, that's a big problem.
The writing was really great! Totally annoyed the hell out of me with Alexis's attitude but she's fine at some points, but really, she was the problem.
I liked everything, generally speaking but the characters can use more growing and improving as well as the plot. Especially since this is getting really interesting. Because THAT ENDING! Ha! I knew it, so it didn't really threw my eyes out of their sockets but it was a great turn!
As I said before, Stacy knows how to keep a series going. It was a definite cliffhanger. We can't stop there.
I'd recommend the book to anyone who likes vampire novels + love triangles. Though I don't know what your standards might be when you're a real geek when it comes to vampires.

Disclaimer: I'm not a young adult. Still, that doesn't keep me from enjoying young adult fiction when it's well written or has engaging characters. Sadly, this falls flat on both counts.
The story is characterised by interactions which could be summarised as:
The narrator is best described as problematic. On discovering that she's a vampire princess, she starts deliberately reading people's minds (massive invasion of privacy) and at one point sexually assaults the alternate love interest! The only person who reacts to this is the primary love interest, who is written as jealous!
I wondered if the characters were deliberately written as arrogant, yet still toddler-ish, because vampires aren't supposed to be great guys that you willingly spend time with. Unfortunately I reached the conclusion that despite continued horrible behaviour from all, the author still seems to think these are the good guys.
So, if you're the kind of person who likes your main characters to behave appallingly but still be the hottest, smartest, best person ever in the eyes of surrounding characters, then by all means, read this book. Otherwise, avoid.

Actual rating: 2.25/5. So about this book. This story is about a girl named Alexis, who discovers that she is not only going to become a vampire - she's also a vampire princess. On top of that she's a born savior called the Sonnast.I got this ebook for free from a book deal on a website. Honestly the cover looks so intriguing but to me the story fell short. Allow me to explain why.Now was it to most original premise in the world? No. But I did, for the most part, enjoy how it was displayed. There were parts that sucked me in and held me and made me feel on the edge of my seat.But for the most part I was not loving this book. I didn't particularly like any of the characters for long periods of time. I didn't like the love triangle and how it was written. I didn't like how some things weren't given in detail such as the main character's thoughts on some things. There was more dialogue where there should have been some description or inner thinking. I didn't get truly hooked until the last few chapters, hence the rating.Despite the issues with it, it was an interesting premise. And that cliffhanger though! One day I may read the 2nd book, but as of now it's not high on my TBR list.

I loved it. It was really great. I believe that Stacy Claflin was really able to capture the struggle of jealousy and anger that Alexis felt at the beginning with feeling less loved by her "parents". I fell in love with Cliff he seems so dreamy I think Alexis should pick him. I mean come on, this guy has spent all his life loving her and when he thought she was dead (even though it turns out she was kidnapped and very much alive) he never gave up on his love for her. And then you have Tanner show up and uses her to get high off of vampire venom and he loved the vampire, Samantha befor he met Alexis and now all of a sudden, once he meets Alexis he's now in love with her. I don't think so. I say ditch him and go marry Cliff, he's her real true love. Because I don't think Tanner would have waited fourteen or so years for Alexis. He probably would have give'n up on her and fell in love with someone new. So I guess you would say I'm team Cliff(I should make T-shirts for this book HeHe) I can't wait for book 2(kick Tanner's butt Cliffy-boy)!!!!!

Did Not Finish
I'm ashamed to say I only got a few pages into this book—27, to be exact—but I just could not go on. Alexis's whining about her sister got very annoying very quickly, and the family dynamic in this story is very cliche and cringeworthy. It has most stereotypes I can think of—favoritism over one child for no reason, the complete 180 between daughters (one being 'beautiful' and 'perfect,' the other being 'nerdy' and 'plain'), and the blatant disgust the parents have for one of their own daughters. I know there are some crappy parents out there, but the sisters seem to live a pretty normal life other than that so I don't really see the parents being the neglectful type. I also was not really a fan of the writing style. It seemed awfully choppy to me.
I WILL say that I'm intrigued with Alexis's powers, and I wish I could find out more. There's just too much I don't like about this book that didn't allow me to finish.

It has most stereotypes I can think of—favoritism over one child for no reason, the complete 180 between daughters (one being 'beautiful' and 'perfect,' the other being 'nerdy' and 'plain'), and the blatant disgust the parents have for one of their own daughters. I know there are some crappy parents out there, but the sisters seem to live a pretty normal life other than that so I don't really see the parents being the neglectful type. I also was not really a fan of the writing style. It seemed awfully choppy to me.
I WILL say that I'm intrigued with Alexis's powers, and I wish I could find out more. There's just too much I don't like about this book that didn't allow me to finish.

Hated the main character!!!!!!!!
I really thought this book was going to be good, I had high expectations for it. The first few chapters were not so bad (reason why I am giving it 2.5 stars) I was sort of understanding it and going along with it, I actually found myself enjoying it a bit, but then the main character started to become a total biotch as the story went on I found myself wanting to scream at her for being so stupid. As I continued to read she only got worse she was making rah situations with out liking at the consciences and thinking of others even through that was supposedly what she was supposed to do in life. She continued to piss me off as the book progressed and even though the story line was ok I had to force myself to continue to read more. Finally I just gave up and stopped reading. I would defiantly not recommend this to a friend.

In the beginning it is fun and interesting (don't they always).
Then Alexis, who seems like a sensible mature girl, started to behave like a spoiled brat. Worse a vampire princess spoiled brat. And kept throwing her title to make everybody obey her.
Then the love triangle starts.
Why does every YA vampire story has to have love triangle plot? It's been so overused that even my kitchen rags look sparkling.
