Jessica Hawkins has a gift. A great one.
She makes you feel, makes you uncomfortable, makes you hot, makes you cry.
Her novels are never similar to others you've probably heard of, because her characters have so many flaws they're unbelievably real.

Jessica Hawkins can really do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. I pre-ordered and was almost too excited to start it. Once I did, I couldn't put it down and read it until the end. There aren't many authors that can get in my head like Jessica. I loved it. I love that she explores human frailty, the stuff that's at the edges of relationships. It deserves to be a best seller. Can't wait for the next installment.

*Audible Review*
I had previously read Possession, and the entire Explicitly Yours series, a little over a year ago, but when I saw Jessica Hawkins was having the audiobook recorded I knew I had to read it again. Or rather, listen to it. Narrated by Christian Fox, one of romancelandia's favorite narrators, I knew I was in for an erotic audible adventure. I usually like female narrators or alternating narrators, but Christian Fox knocked the ball out

Dnf at 25%... And that's with a lot of skimming.

Lola had a boyfriend.. Strike 1.
Said boyfriend tells Lola to flirt with Beau for business.... Strike 2.
I'm reading about Lola and Johnny's lame sex and then I'm expected to read about Lola and Beau later? Nope.... Strike 3. I'm out.

Okay, shall we chat about this?
The heroine was a train wreck, she knows what she wants but won't admit it to herself. She's perfectly fine with risking herself to fulfill someone else's dreams. The hero and heroine are a witty pair, love them together. This book was steamy, sexy, and fun. It still had storytelling, it wasn't completely filled with sex scenes, that was good.

This is a hard one to review because it had me changing my mind constantly. One minute I really liked the characters and the next they seemed to be someone completely different.

Beau would make me swoon and then I'd want to slap him round the chops with my Kindle. He could have been darker, and less sweet. I didn't like Johnny from early on in this book, he didn't do anything in particular, he's just blah. Lola, well. At times she was strong, then I wanted her to grow some blood

AUDIO VERSION -----You just cannot go wrong with Christian Fox description"/

I never really liked the movie "Indecent Proposal" but totally into this remake. The rich guy is much hotter, and I'm more interested in the heroine. Though I find myself frustrated with her thought processes when it comes to the relationship with the boyfriend.

4 I want to make Dirty Art with You- Stars

"If you're worried about making love, don't be. I'm going to fuck you too." Lola, covered her mouth but couldn't tear her eyes away from him. "Beau," she said behind her hand. "I don't want any misconceptions. I'm going to make you uncomfortable. I'm going to worship you. I'm going to dominate you. Any man who just has sex with a woman like you is a fool. I want to make art with you - dirty, impossible, fucked-up, beautiful art."

Johnny & Lola were the managers of Hey Joe a Bar on Sunset Blvd in LA with a great past that had seen better days.Lola had been with Johnny for 9 years and felt indebted to him for pulling her out of a troublesome life head for destruction. That was until HE walks in talk, dark, rich & handsome.

4.5 STARS!!!

Would you do it? Would you spend one night with a stranger if you could make the dreams of the one you love come true? That’s the question Lola faces. Lola and Johnny run an old school bar, Hey Joe’s, in LA which is like their second home. Hey Joe’s is a local institution. Bars like Hey Joe’s are a dying breed. The bar comes up for sale, and it has always been Johnny’s dream to own it. If Lola and Johnny don’t save it, Hey Joe will go to the hig

Move over David Dylan, here comes Beau Olivier. I didn’t say that. I’m sorry David, please forgive me.

If you know me at all, you know I am a HUGE Jessica Hawkins fan and have been since Come Undone, book one of The Cityscape Series. No one writes an alpha man quite like Jessica. I swear I fall in love with every fictional man she creates.

I seem to be fan girling all over this review.

When I heard Jessica was releasing a new series, I was all over it. There was no way I would miss these books, I d

Liked it, but didn't love it.

What kept me going through the book, and what will push me to continue with this series, is this author's brilliant writing. Yes this book was flat for me, but overall it was decently executed.

The storyline itself is a take on Indecent Proposal, where the financially struggling couple (Lola and Johnny) are looking for the answer to their prayers. In walks Beau Olivier. But this time around (going forward with the series) I'm guessing we'll have to deal with the

I was given an arc of this book for an honest review.

This is part of a 3 part serial. You have Johnny and Lola who are an average sort of couple. They run a local bar, but live paycheck to paycheck. Lola had so many dreams and aspirations, but the reality of life settled in. She got very comfortable in her life with Johnny... that is until Beau walks into their bar one night. He offers her and Johnny a one time deal at the life they dream of, but at what cost? And is that life what Lola really w
Where to begin? The book was a very slow read to the point I almost quit several times. Johnny was over weight, sloppy, with no ambition and took Lola for granted. Beau was down right nasty, and degraded Lola and Lola thought it was a sexual turn on to be treated that way. There was no show from neither Johnny nor Beau of actually caring for Lola. Then the "to be continued" popped up at the end of the book. I can't call it a cliff hanger because it was too boring to be called that. I believe the ...more

Well that was quick and delicious! *takes a cold shower* This is INDECENT PROPOSAL in book form, but 10x hotter. I LOVED the narrator, Christian Fox! He nailed both Lola and Beau voices. Between the amazing narration and the intriguing writing, I was consumed with the story and the characters. There was tons of steam and an intriguing plot to keep me listening for hours without stopping. I literally listened to this book without breaking. I'm anxious to see where this story goes, so I'm gonna ju

Possession by Jessica Hawkins
Lola and Johnny have been managing a bar for 9 years. Lola has let go of her dreams so she can be there for Johnny. She almost feels indebted to him. Unfortunately, Johnny does not seem to have any drive, he seems to be content stuck in the rut they find themselves in. He used to believe that he wanted to own the bar “Hey Joe” but with money being tight it looks as though that dream will never materialise. When a stranger enters the bar with his co-worker and starts

This is Jessica Hawkins' first book series (published a few years ago as the Night Fever series) but I just read it last year! Ooops! Haha

Nonetheless, it's a unique story line that may remind you of a movie or two but trust me, it's really not what you'd expect.

Possession is the first book were Beau & Lola meet in a very interesting way and from the start, Lola is DEFINITELY intrigued by this man. However, there's a BIG secret that Beau hides and THAT could be Lola's worst nightmare. Beau seeks

I posted a couple of days ago that I had stumbled across Possession, by Jessica Hawkins, and was intrigued. LET ME TELL YOU…WHEW!!!! If you are looking for steamy, hot, and seriously sexy? This is a read for you!! Possession is book 1 in the Explicitly Yours series, and let me say that I am ready to read the others in the set, Domination, Provocation, and Obsession, just as soon as I get the opportunity!

Lola and her boyfriend, Johnny, have been running the bar Hey Joe together for several years.

Audio review: Think Indecent Proposal, the movie from way back. This book is hot and so intriguing.
And read by Christian Fox makes it perfection.
I got the complete series in an audio box set so great deal!
Complex characters. Good writing. Has potential to open a discussion on a few moral points. Unless you’ve got that figured.
