I was born in Nottinghamshire, England, but I didn't live there for very long. The family moved to West Yorkshire when I was just eighteen months old and so I have always regarded Yorkshire as my home. I grew up there as the middle child in a family of five—all girls—in a home where books were vitally important and I read anything I could get my hands on.

Even before I could write I was making up stories. My mother tells the story of me recounting the tale of the Three Little Raindrops — Drippy, Droppy and Droopy to my two younger sisters when I was four. I can't remember a time when I wasn't scribbling away at something, and I wrote my first 'book' when I was eleven, an adventure story, most of it in secret in lessons at school—particularly maths lessons, which I hated.

But everyone, particularly teachers and my parents, told me that I would never make a living as a writer, and I should work towards a more secure career. So I decided instead that if I couldn't write books, I could at least work with them and so I settled for becoming a librarian. On leaving school, I went to the University College of Wales Aberystwyth where I studied English and Librarianship for my degree.

More importantly, university was also where I met my husband who was also studying English there. We married and moved back north, eventually settling in Lincolnshire. Here I worked as a children's librarian until I left work when my son was born.

After three years of being a full-time housewife and mother, I was ready for a new challenge, but needed something I could do at home, and so I turned to my old love of writing. My first attempts at novels were written on the kitchen table, often late into the night when my son was asleep or during a few snatched hours when he was out at nursery school.

The first two novels sent off to Harlequin Mills & Boon were rejected, but the third attempt was successful. I can still remember the moment that a letter arrived instead of the rejection slip I had been dreading. I think I must have read it over and over at least a hundred times before the reality of what it said sank in, and for days I kept checking it just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. In 1984, THE CHALK LINE was published just in time to be one of my best Christmas presents ever.

Fitting in hobbies around working and being a wife and mother can be difficult, but I always find time to read. I love all sorts of fiction, especially Romance, obviously. I also enjoy historical novels, detective fiction and long, absorbing biographies about fascinating people and I can spend hours in bookshops just browsing. I enjoy knitting and embroidery, but I rarely get time to do either now that I'm a full-time writer. I also love looking round antique fairs or junk shops, hoping to add to my collection of Victorian embroidery. During my working hours my four cats, all adopted from the RSPCA, usually keep me company in my study, though they have to be dissuaded from sitting on the piles of papers that they are convinced are there just for them.

I love to travel and visit new places, especially places with an interesting history, and I always enjoy visiting old castles or stately homes and imagining how the people who used to live there spent their days.

I'm often asked if I'm a romantic sort of person because I specialise in writing Romances. Well, if being romantic means caring about other people enough to make that extra special effort, then yes, I am. Romance is about making the important people in your life feel valued and letting them know that you care. But I also write about relationships and the difficulties people sometimes have in understanding each other, or expressing affection, or overcoming problems.

Sometimes—when the right words won't come, or an idea hasn't worked out as I'd thought, I wonder why I don't have some regular nine to five job, but when the story's flowing and the characters come alive, I really can't imagine a

I was disappointed with this book. I guess it's my own fault. This cover was so gorgeous, it made me excited to read the book. However, the story is pretty ho-hum. It lacks passion, and I don't just mean sexual passion. I thought it would be pretty vibrant because of how they first meet and their instant chemistry, but this foundation isn't built on in a satisfactory way for me. Fundamentally, I didn't get excited about reading this, but I just wanted to get it read.

One thing that was pretty interesting was how malignant Dario's brother was. He was basically stalking Elyse because his father wanted him to marry her, and her father pretty much dangles her like bait in front of him. I think Dario's father was a big, fat jerk, and it bothers me that Dario was so stuck on getting his approval. I know his mother made him promise to reconnect with the guy, but Dario was too emotionally fixated on his father's approval. Poor Elyse comes off as a pawn for most of this book. I love revenge stories, but I prefer when the heroine retains some power over herself, even if it's mentally or emotionally. Elyse seems to fold in on herself. I can see how things were with her. Her parents are so fixated on each other, she is emotionally neglected. That's why I wanted her to have a hero who was crazy about her. I don't think Dario was really. Of course, at the end, they make up and love is declared, but it wasn't fully convincing to me.

I gave this three stars more because I liked the heroine and I do give the cover props. It's probably nothing special to some readers, but I think it's kind of a unique look for this series. This book had some potential, but it wasn't anything particularly memorable. I think I just have such high expectations for Harlequin Presents because I love them so much, and I'm disappointed when they don't live up to those expectations.

In the beginning I had this idea that this story would knock me out.

The first chapter started off really well. The sexual tension between Alyse Gregory & the sexy and gorgeous stranger was just fabulous.

But then I get to why Alyse decides to go off into the night with said sexy stranger……she wants to get the horrible and dislikable suitor that her father is pushing her into to get her message…she is not interested!!! So why not show him she’s more interested in Dario Olivero…he will definitely get off her back.

Now sneaky Dario has a devious plan involving her. He’s going to get the girl his half-brother wants…just to get his revenge!!!
Then wow….Dario proposes and Alyse says yes!!!! Certainly neither does this for love..both have their own reasons for it!!
Okay, so as usual, they fall in love with each other and go off and have their HEA…..

I just could not get into their story….most of the time I was like….

OLIVERO’S OURAGEOUS PROPOSAL by author Kate Walker is an April 2015 release by Harlequin Presents.

Alyse Gregory wanted to get away from one persistent suitor so she planned on being seen with another man. But meeting Dario Olivero put the plan put of her mind as she was scorched by desire so hot that there was nothing else on her mind.

Yet was Dario also hit by desire or had she played in his hands? Then he proposed marriage to her as a way of getting out of her problems, would she accept it? Now that she knew why he came after her in the first place?
What would happen to their super-charged chemistry? Would they give in to their passion? But Dario doesn’t do family, what would he do when Alyse drops the bombshell on him?

OLIVERO’S OUTRAGEOUS PROPOSAL is a sizzling romance. Author Kate Walker once again brought a tale of romance shimmering with emotions and sensuality. A reader would stay hooked to the book till the very last page.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

Kate Walker is back and this time it's a real humdinger of a journey ! We have Dario Olivero, he sees Alyse Gregory as a way to reap revenge against his estranged half brother, he 'll use her to get the family acceptance he has always craved and then walk away. But then he discovers Alyse's family debts and realizes he cannot simply walk away.

There is only one solution and it's in true Harlequin Presents fashion.... a marriage proposal ! Of course this is not what Alyse was expecting yet she does see the logic therein and besides her body might be saying yes and her head no, but she can always find her head and steer it in the right direction, right ?

But whilst basking in the Tuscan sun their mutual attraction escalates out of hand and soon they have a whole other inconvenient dilemma to deal with! Oh and did I forget to mention there's also Marcus who wants Alyse all to himself! It's the perfect heart-racing rush to the end of feelings, overpowering emotions, heartache, blackmail and a whole lot of secrets !

This was the type of book that is so fast paced and emotionally packed that it is impossible to put it down once you start, do not I repeat do not start reading this book when you have to get to bed early for an early start, trust me your thoughts will be whirling around and no sleep will come! Oh and as myself you will end up grabbing it and reading it till the very end and at am realize you have to get up in an hour! Talk about a long day, but with these characters and the remarkable journey created by a very talented author it was all worth it!

I loved the characters, both strong and passionate and both with that delicious ' Back off, don't mess with me" vs " I am all yours as long as ..." attitude , it gave the read the perfect dark meets light element that I love so much when it comes to romance books.

For those that read my reviews , you will know that this is where I start digging into the characters and breaking them down bit by bit, but today that is something that will cause a huge injustice to this book. Why? Because this is the number one Kate Walker book! You have to read it for youself Passion. amazing flair, an incredible journey of love, self discover and just so much more that I am finding it really hard to place the exact words

After completing this read I was in a daze for days, and not just because of the lack of sleep no, it was the a state of complete awe, as to just how amazing this author's work is. She took a simple found in so many other romance books plot and changed it into one of the most magical journeys of romance I have ever come across.

I highly recommend this read for all fans of romance. It had the danger vs anger vs passion and betrayal , the this is not over till I say it is and the roller coaster of emotions that completely overwhelmed me! Just perfect!!

What a great story this one is so powerfully emotional and sensual this one pulled me in from the first page and although I wanted to get to the finish I didn't want it to end :) Dario Olivero and Alyse Gregory had both been treated indifferently by their parents Dario ignored by his father and Alyse felt very used so when they start off by thinking they can use each other for good reasons things change very quickly when both feel the electrical pull that could light up a street on first seeing each other and neither know who the other is, this is a beautiful story that you will not want to miss.

Marriage of convenience? Those are stories that I really like.

This one started as a game to thwart one man and ended up bringing the main leads into a tangled chaos of titles and pedigrees as if there was no difference between looking for a wife and looking for a horse for your farm.

Olivero suggests (or rather commands very subtly) that they get married and Alysse who has to do something to resolve the issue of getting the family debt paid sees no way round it.

A story where a relationship is as much pretense as it is real and the emotions just run out of control. Wanting something with all your heart but are not able to even voice them.

Awesomely portrayed Kate, I simply loved it.!

Olivero's Outrageous Proposal is a gorgeous April 2015 Harlequin and Mills and Boon release by the incredibly talented Kate Walker.

Lady Alyse is caught between two waring half-brothers, Marcus, the one she's trying her best to avoid and Dario Olivero, the one who Alyse is 100% attracted to, regardless of the fact she's a pawn in Dario's revenge party. An exciting and heart racing start full of drama sets the rapid pace through out the story. A delicious tale full of twists and turns, revenge and blackmail, love and heartbreak, Olivero's Outrageous Proposal ticked every box for me.

Alyse is being thrown from pillar to post by all her loved ones and with Marcus on her back about accepting his marriage proposal, she's so desperate to get him to leave her alone she decides to go against everything she knows and in an attempt to make Marcus go away she dances with a handsome and perfectly dashing, drop dead gorgeous Italian. What she doesn't expect is for him to completely turn her feelings upside down and awaken in such a way she didn't know was possible. In the taxi on the way back to his place she turns to see Marcus. Dario doesn't miss the hint of a smile. Perhaps the hint of the smile helps Dario feel less guilty when Alyse finds it wasn't an accident they meet.

In between the waring brothers, Alyse's family is slowly falling into ruins. There's two hands offering help, Alyse chose the hand Dario offers. Marriage of convenience. What's not convenient is the feelings both Alyse and Dario feels and fights. Dario has risen from the gutter, he has revenge on his mind and a marriage of convenience will get him what he thinks he wants. Alyse needs to help her family and get away from Marcus. Dario is the short term answer. That's not all tho, there's still more secrets to spill.

Kate has an such incredible way with words, they flow right off the page into my imagination, they set the scene, they build in a rising crescendo, they tug at your heart strings, they send you away to beautiful locations, they make you absolutely love the hero and feel for the heroine. There's a depth and intensity that make Dario and Alyse's story 3D in my mind.

Thank you Kate, I'm so honored to receive an ARC for my honest opinion, I really appreciate it and absolutely adore your work.

Olivero’s Outrageous Proposal by Kate Walker is a well written romance which ticked all the right boxes for me personally. A marriage of convenience romance with a revenge twist thrown in is my favorite type of romance.

Dario is a commanding hero who is hell bent on revenge and is using Alyse for the same. He does not do commitment or deep emotions and therefore a marriage of convenience is all that he needs from the heroine. His character grows on the reader as the story progresses and I liked him overall. Alyse starts as an insecure heroine who is forced to marry Dario to pay off her father debts. She is a likable heroine and I loved her because of her sweet, caring nature.

There is a villain too! and it definitely adds more spice to the story. The romance is enjoyable because it has the right combination of passion and emotions. If you are fan of Kate Walker and the Presents Series then I am sure you are gonna love this book!

I received a copy of Kate Walkers's book in return for an honest review. I cannot be more honest when I say this is a story with everything a romance reader would want and then some. This book has it all a villain in Marcus Kavanaugh, a very insecure women in Alyse and Dario Olivero a dashing sophisticated wealthy man out for revenge. To achieve this he will marry Alyse to help her pay off her fathers debts. He warns her he doesn't do family and he is offering Marriage not commitment or devotion for life. Alyse falls in love with her husband but finds out the reason he married her at the same time she finds out she is pregnant. I won't give away anymore of the story. You must read this book as the outcome is what all us romance readers look for, a fantastic HEA. Thank you Kate Walker for the opportunity to read this wonderful story its 5 stars and a hundred sighs!

"Olivero's Outrageous Proposal" by Kate Walker was a wonderful, quick read. The more I read from this author I have to put her up into my top 10 list for authors.

We meet Alyse Gregory who is being pursued by one man that she doesn't care for so she decides to go after another man Dario Olivero. Dario doesn't mind because he is just as taken with her as she is with him. The desire between these two is HOT. There is just one problem...the man that Alyse wants nothing to do with is Dario's brother and Dario knows that his brother wants this woman. Is everything all happy and roses? Well, not quite. Dario wants her but Alyse is looking for love.

Much more to this book than I wrote about but definitely worth the read.

Loved it. Alyse & Dario felt the passion the moment they met. However, they both needed something from each other. She needed a man to get Marcus off her back and he needed her to prove to his father and Marcus that he belongs in the family. I felt Dario pain, it was wrong of his father to deny him but it made him strong. Then he find his one, she made him feel like he had a family. The ending was beautiful.

Kate Walker has a knack for making her novels stand out. Each of her stories is written with meticulous precision and she has done it again with her newest romance for Harlequin Presents. Olivero’s Outrageous Proposal is a stunning, beautiful and compellingly spicy read!

Dario Olivero is the bastard child of Henry Kavanaugh. He has faced many hardships growing up. But due to a twist of fate, is now world renowned for his wines. Except there is one thing this Italian wants most of all and it is something his money cannot buy. He wants his father to recognize him for who he is: his son. Hence, Dario will do anything to prove his worth. However, one thing stands in his way. His half brother!

Alyse Gregory wants to get rid of Marcus Kavanaugh. He is a bug that would not let go. When she meets the gloriously gorgeous Dario, she formulates a plan. Use Dario to fend off Marcus. One thing leads to another and she ends up at Dario's place, in his arms! When Marcus comes banging at Dario's door, Alyse finds out the true identity of the man who kissed her with all the life in him. She is attracted to Dario but will a fake marriage keep Marcus away from pestering her? Or has Alyse jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire with Dario when she agrees to marry him although their marriage is just as faked as Marcus's feelings for her?

Read on to find out how this relationship pans out…

Two troubled hearts, beating to an emotional rhythm of revenge and retribution, find a resolution that offers much more than they expected in “Olivero’s Outrageous Proposal”. Author Kate Walker excels at intense, dramatic storytelling, and this is a tale of a man and a woman with a mutual goal in mind, but each has very different, very personal reasons. Alyse Gregory must find a way to solve her family’s financial problems, thus ensuring help for her mother’s health issues. Dario Olivero has worked his way from the poverty of his youth and the sting of his illegitimacy to unimaginable wealth. He lacks for nothing that money can buy, but the one thing he wants is to triumph over the father and half-brother who rejected him all of his life. A marriage of convenience with Lady Alyse Gregory, whose family title still holds prestige, will be beneficial to them both. However, the attraction between them, which shot off sparks from the beginning, soon becomes a powerful need, and their relationship grows in ways neither of them ever imagined. As family truths emerge on both sides, will the deepening feelings between Alyse and Dario survive the harsh realities of their situation? Can it be love, and not just desire, that binds them together?

I felt like the character Alyse was on a constant rant throughout this entire book. I had to finish it since I purchased it, but definitely not my favorite book by this author. Whiney is how I felt about her. And Dario while he is a typical dark dangerous guy he seemed clueless for a billionaire. Time for harlequin to evaluate their books a little better.
