About the author

Pastor Jerry Ross was saved at a young age at Rock Run Baptist Church north of Brazil, Indiana. He was called to preach in 1979 shortly after graduating from Blessed Hope Baptist School in Jasonville, Indiana. He then attended Hyles-Anderson Bible College and graduated in 1987 with a B.S. in Pastoral Theology. He met his future wife, Sheryl, while in college and God has since blessed them with three daughters.

Pastor Ross has served in the gospel ministry since graduating from Bible college, first as the Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Brazil, Indiana, then as a full-time assistant pastor at Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Jasonville, Indiana, and now as the senior pastor of that same church. He has also authored several books and booklets including The Teenage Years of Jesus Christ, Stay in the Castle, and Grace Will Lead Me Home.

I am a young person and I grew up with pastor Ross guiding me. He is an amazing person. I believe that what Pastor Ross is trying to say with his book is that the way young teenagers should live their life is by walking with Christ. So when you say I'm a christian not only should your actions speak it but your clothing you lifestyle should to. Because when you are saying I am a christian you are saying I am representing Christ. So I believe Pastor Ross was not wrong nor did he go to far in his book. I will give this book to my children when they are old enough. Pastor Ross shows that the young teenagers today need a guiding light. I hope others will see that this book is exceptional for any teenager.

Great book for every young person to read at the age of eleven or twelve! The author has very simple and basic biblical principles that portrays the example that Jesus Christ gave us when he walked here on earth. I like how the author brings out that the Bible teaches no "teenage" stage of life but rather only childhood, young manhood or young womanhood, and adulthood! Every child needs to be better prepared and equipped to leave childhood and enter young manhood or young womanhood! This book gives them the tools that will help them get there! I recommend every eleven or twelve your old, along with every parent and Sunday school teacher, to read this book!

This book may have just made it to be my favorite non-fiction. It was so encouraging to read a book advocating that is possible to be godly, mature, and Christ-like even as a teenager! All based on Luke 2:52, it unpacked everything that Christ focused on as a teenager according to that verse, and not only had practical steps and action plans to become like Him, but it also had Bible verses to back each point up (which were all KJV!). I never got the feeling that I was reading a book of the author's opinions, but rather a book putting what the Bible has to say about young people in a condensed, easy-to-reference, and practical format. This book has given me SO much to think about and is one that I will probably be referencing (and maybe even buying my own copy of, something rare for me to do!) alot. I whole-heartedly recommend this to any teenager (and young adult too!) to read with a prayerful and open mind!

I really wanted to give this a better rating, but I just can’t. There was a lot of stuff in here that was just opinions. The author really didn't back it up with actual verses. To be honest, I'm surprised so many people have recommended this book. That being said, there were definitely some good things in here, but anyone who reads it will really have to think about what they're reading and fact check it through the Bible. If the OPINIONS were not treated as FACT, I wouldn’t have a problem with the author including his personal views, however it was stated as "this is what you should do" rather than "this is what I think you should do".
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this book unless you want to use it as a study tool to make you research and think, but as a book itself, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I liked a lot of this and highlighted several things. The emphasis on the early life of Christ was very good in that it pulls quite a lot of truth from the little said about it. The Bible says all it needs to about those years for us to understand the responsibility of a teenager.

I love the emphasis placed on teens being far more serious, gaining a skill, learning to work hard, having character, and loving the Lord. There were a few quibbles I had with some of what was said about dating and marriage (Many a young lady missed a great guy right in front of her while waiting on the "right guy"). I largely agree with what was said there as well.

This is a great little book to give someone. The trouble is, most teens don't read these days either. You'll have to earn some trust first. Of course, if it's your kid, you can make them read it!

Phenomenal!! I cannot say enough good about this book. I was convicted as a Christian, as a mom, a parent. Christianity is counter-cultural and this book exemplifies that to be like Christ is to go against the grain in how we think about raising teenagers.

The author showcases the practicality of the Bible and the tremendous example Christ is to teenagers based on one verse, Luke 2:52, and the gold-mine it is in outlining what our teenagers ought to strive to become.

This is one for the home library.

This is a fantastic book for teens to read. I am a teen, and I loved it. I learned so much from it, and will be writing down some notes before I return this book. I am so glad I read this book, and it seemed to be a quick read if you want to read it in a few days, or practically one sitting!
In today's generation, teens should set the example of Jesus Christ, and this is the perfect book on how to do it!
A MUST READ AND MUST BUY BOOK!!!
I recommend this to all teens. Adults should even read this!

Awesome book for every Christian to read, but especially for teens. Super practical and biblical! A book I plan to read again.
