This was a cute story with adorable illustrations. Owyn is enjoying his first winter and is making all kinds of friends, but, as happens with young ones, he doesn't understand what is happening and why it all has to change. Thankfully his mom is there to answer all of his questions. I would like to see more of Owyn in future books.

Adorable book with beautiful illustrations, about the changing of seasons. I read it through with my daughter and now she's trying to learn to read it on her own, she just loves it. Definitely highly recommend.

Owyn Owl’s Very First Winter by Pippin Post is an absolutely adorable story about a little owl learning about winter and the other seasons. Owyn the little owl is concerned because first the trees are losing their leaves but Mama Owl explains to Owyn about Fall. Soon Owyn gets to experience snow for the very first time! And it is beautiful! Mama owl then explains about snow. Owyn has fun exploring the wintry landscape but then the snow melts and Mama gets to explain about Spring.

The story is told in poetic way, with many words rhyming. It’s fun and easy to read. I found it enjoyable as an adult and my 5 year old enjoyed the story. It’s perfect for the younger kids to learn about the seasons in a fun way. It’s also a quick read that doesn’t require much time.

The illustrations by Mabel Moody are adorable. We get the cute owls but we also get wintry landscapes and other fun creatures of the forest. It is all done very well and I can imagine even the very youngest kids would have fun looking at it.

I highly recommend this book!

Mama Owl smiled and said, “This is fresh snow. We will see it all winter, wherever we go.”

Owyn Owl is frightened when winter sets in. The trees have lost their leaves. Surely something is wrong!

His mother explains winter to him, and the next day snow covers and dusts everything. There is a beautiful illustration and explanation of how we get snow.

Owyn spends all winter reveling in the white fluff with his friends. At least until winter comes to an end and the snow begins to melt, signifying spring.

A great starter story for discussion the seasons and weather changes with young readers, particularly winter.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this cute little picture book in a Goodreads giveaway! I was especially impressed with the illustrations in the book, they are very professional and beautifully done. No doubt the illustrator has a bright future ahead of her. The story itself was sweet and simple, just right for the picture book age group. It is also educational, giving a good overview of the different seasons and the changes brought about by nature.

Owyn Owl's: Very First Winter was a lovely story and very appealing to the little ones! The joy of snow and the beauty of spring are both portrayed to the children's delight. Great story. Don't have to wait a long time to see what happens.
