Direct, understandable, fluent. Just how a popular science book should be.

I read in Spanish and I hope it just a bad translate and bad edition. It remember me the worst of educational books: a lot of stories without real connection.

The book explains astrophysical as well as chemical and physical basics in a very simple and understandable way. It gave a nice overview but I recommend it for people with little to no foreknowledge because if you have already read in the field of astrophysics then you know almost everything in this book. But still great as a "summary" of all the general science stuff and it is written in an interesting way.

Initially very interesting, with engaging and humorous profiles of major astronomical phenomena and the scientists who discovered them. After about halfway, though, I gradually wandered off, as I simply wan't that interested in what Florian was telling me anymore- I suppose the questions I had weren't getting answered- and the topics seemed to be too general to be really engaging. Very approachable prose, however.

Very well written, all the topics are logically related and explained in a short and simple way. It's also lovely to read a book about astronomy that doesn't start with the Olbers' Paradox, but rather ends with it. This book covers probably all the essentials that everyone should know about astronomy.

Interesantna tema, ali loše napisana.
