David Gregory Welch is the author of The Book of Echoes (JackLeg Press, 2025), Everyone Who Is Dead (Spork Press, 2018), and a chapbook, It Is Such a Good Thing to Be In Love With You (The Laurel Review/Midwest Chapbook Series, 2015). He is the recipient of awards from the Academy of American Poets, the Poetry Society of America, and the Sewanee Writers' Conference.
Welch is one of my favorite poets in Chicago and his sophomore collection rivals his debut. Blending a mixture of narrative poems with loose (mis)translations and Tourette syndrome insights, this densely layered collection is worthy of multiple reads. Absurd and tender, often at the same time.
