- This was a fun fall read!! The cover pulled me in and the mess kept me invested!! This was messy and SPICY!!
- Love that this story follows an fmc using ASL and we were able to watch someone truly fall for every part of her! So beautiful to read!
- I don’t know why I thought this book was going to be a cutsey cozy read hahahaah maybe the cover? Loved it nonetheless!! Just know going into it that this book is a wild ride.

Rome had the audacity of 25 men. And his parents my lawd. I’m glad CREED did what he did. I was mad half the whole book lmao… the disability representation in this book carried well. A good quick read.

So maybe I was a bit judgmental when I saw the book pop up a few times 😭. The cover and title weren’t giving, so I wrote it off but I finally decided to read it. And it’s really good, y’all 🔥. I mean, the narrative, tropes, and plot weren’t exactly groundbreaking or different from what I’m used to, but it’s all in the storytelling for me.

My poor Nakyra 💔. I hate it when the world expects people with disabilities to function like “normal” people. She deserved so much love from the beginning but I can’t complain, she finally found the perfect love in the end that holds space for her softness and offers her safety. Does it matter how? That depends on your morals. But if you ask me, it was fuck that nigga from page one 🤷🏽‍♀️.

I think I love soft women with a nasty, sensual side. In a genre that often rewards performative perfection, Creed’s self awareness was refreshing. What I like about him was his consistency and brutal honesty. He knows himself, knows what he wants, and moves accordingly 💪🏽. He’s not trying to “fix” her but protects without smothering. His parents are bullies, and I’m glad he cut them off a long time ago, some people don’t deserve kids, honestly 😤.

Anyway, y’all need to get into this immediately!!!

4.2🌸~ soft, honest, and unexpectedly real.

The narration in this book was great. As well as the disability representation. I wanted to love it so badly, but it was too messy for me. Lots of drama and things I’m not crazy about, but the writing and audiobook were great.

I’m really trying to put this delicately, I promise.

The book starts out decent. (But /that/ scene in the beginning was not consensual at all. There should absolutely be a trigger warning of some kind). Then after about chapter 3, it goes downhill from there. It’s almost mind-numbing, I’m not even exaggerating.

None of the characters felt like real people. Everyone felt like a prop. One dimensional. Like they were created solely to fill one role and one role only and couldn’t show any emotion or depth outside of that.

A lot of the conversations felt so repetitive. The dialogue constantly swung between mindless chatter and what is supposed to be a quotable moment. And it’s just not. Every time.

The way the FMC speaks about her natural hair rubbed me the wrong way. Literally all of the smut in this book was so unnecessary; more than half of it was the MMC with pretty much anybody other than the FMC.

I feel like the primary goal of this book was to hit a word count. And if so, congratulations. Truly.

While I know the cheating trope isn’t everyone’s jam (mine) this one right here? I ate it up!!
Creed Creed Creed… my Lord. Had me over here salivating!! 😂
I’m so glad that that the universe aligned and put Creed into Nakyra life (as messed up as it was🫣) She needed someone to be in her corner for and someone WANTING to love her properly and accommodate to HER needs for once in her life.
I love the found family in this and the representation of the hearing impaired and ASL. That was new and refreshing to see and I hope those out there in Nakyra’s situation were able to see themselves in her.
Super cute palate cleanser to break up heavier reads. 🧡🍂👂🏾

so sweet 💕

“Hear My Heart” is a beautiful story, it is forbidden and swoon worthy. It was the build up for me! I love a good slow-burn story that gives me all the feels. Tay Monae continues to push the envelope and tackle topics that require research and development for the characters’ voices to shine through. I can’t imagine how challenging it may have been to write about a character who has a hearing impairment but Tay was able to skillfully articulate Nakyra’s story.

Nakyra is a young woman with a hearing impairment; she uses ASL and hearing aids, but is able to read lips to communicate. Her upbringing was challenging - in the sense that her family didn’t make her a priority or go the extra mile to learn how to communicate with her. Luckily, she had her cousin who is her confidant and safe space. Creed is a successful business owner, and lives his life unapologetically. I could tell that he was the “black sheep” of his family, but he didn’t allow his family to control his life. The twist in this story is who Creed is related to and how that impacted Nakyra. Whew chile, the way I was feigning to see how things would unfold must be studied!

A tragic event brought Creed and Nakyra into close proximity. But honestly, was it a tragedy or was it the universe doing its thing, because I’m definitely thinking the latter. I can 100% say, Creed was the man for Nakyra - he saw her for who she was. He went the extra mile to communicate with her. He also helped her to see that she was settling and deserved more, but placed the ball in her court to move how she saw fit. He was literally perfection on page. I enjoyed this book so much! The character development was chefs kiss; the romance, kinks/spice, and progression of the relationship was amazing. On the other side, it wouldn’t be a Tay Monae story without her signature drama. Baby, I was so heated; I could fight Deacon, Marisol, and Rome for how they treated Creed and Nakyra - but karma got the last laugh. I highly recommend this story.

Nakyra truly deserved to find happiness even if it was from a forbidden person. Loved this book. I knew Rome was no good from the very beginning. Nakyra put up with a lot because of trauma she has experienced all her laugh. She found her voice and chose herself. Loved this book.

I have to stop assuming things when I see these book covers because I thought this would be a wholesome, lighthearted, cozy little read, and I was completely wrong! 😭 I wasn’t too far off when it came to the wholesomeness, but I was not ready for the dramaaaa.

Nakyra and Creed were good together; Creed was definitely the better man for her, and he proved it every time. Although I liked this couple, and I understand wanting to jump into a relationship after finally finding someone that loves you for you, I feel like the fmc definitely needed some time outside of being in a relationship to focus on herself.

Spending a good portion of this book with Creed sleeping with other women and Nakyra still “being in love” with her fiancé, it was hard for me to fully believe in their connection in the end. I wouldn’t mind another 50 pages of them exploring their relationship more emotionally; it desperately needed it imo.

lastly, I just wanted to make a note that the disability rep was great, and the service dog was so cute.

Whew, this book had me fuming right from the start—horrible parents everywhere you turn! Nakyra, a beautiful deaf woman, is engaged to Rome, this overachieving rich kid who was the first guy to give her attention. They’ve been together for eight years, and he finally proposes. But here’s the tea: he dictates how she should dress, especially around his snobby parents. Then, disaster strikes—Rome gets into a terrible accident and ends up in a coma, leaving Nakyra absolutely heartbroken. And as if that’s not enough, Rome’s awful parents go out of their way to keep her from his hospital room. The audacity!

Enter Creed, Rome’s little brother, the forgotten underdog in the family. Unlike the golden child Rome, Creed’s lived in his parents’ shadow but built himself up to become a successful businessman. When Nakyra tells Creed about the accident, he immediately comes home and sees how horribly she’s being treated by his parents. Y’all, Creed is not here for the nonsense. He steps in, vows to stand by her, and shows her a whole new level of respect and care. The question is—will Creed’s attention help Nakyra realize she deserves better than Rome?

This book had a LOT going on, but I was here for every bit of it. The parents? Absolute trash, including Nakyra’s. But it was fascinating to see her navigate life as a hearing-impaired woman while balancing love, work, friendship, and her own passions. Truly an emotional and thought-provoking read!

3.5 rounded up. If what was revealed at the end, was known earlier in the book, this would’ve been a solid 4 star read for me. There’s forbidden and there’s dead ass wrong and this toed the line 🤣 everybody in this book was TRASH from all the parents to the fmc, mmc, his brother and that irrelevant chick. Read if you want to. It was still a messy time and I enjoyed the audio, I just don’t vibe with the storyline.

Thought this was a cute, innocent cover that depicted a sweet little fluffy autumn romance between a woman with a hearing disability and a man who loves her, hmm?

Because I thought I was taking a break from smut and just reading a nice, romantic tale that would follow the cozy and mild romance story formula. I was expecting low angst. But nahhhhh, the author surprised me. This story was sooooo messy, raunchy, dramatic, complicated, and humorous. I was completely thrown off guard! I was triggered by the bullshit her fiancé put her through, but that got resolved rather quickly!

Loved every minute of this. Don't judge a book by its cover.

The way I flew thru this! I was in The mood for something spicy and messy. I was not fooled by the cover thanks to TikTok lol so I was prepared and excited for it. The cheating is a nonfactor to me because….eff him. The mmc was super sweet and I enjoyed how he cared for the fmc. Pleasantly surprised.

This book gave me all the feels! Some may say it was wrong for the way that the FMC and MMC got together in the story, but I was here for it all. Sometimes life puts love in front of you without you seeking it and that’s when you know it is meant to be. This story was a classic example of you don’t know what you needed until you have it.

I loved the undercover spicy scenes in this story. Judging by the cover, you would not know that all of this is going on, but I absolutely loved it. Nakyra stole my heart, and she was such a genuine and caring person. All she needed was the right man to come along! Creed definitely gave “my man my man my man” vibes and he has officially made the book bae list. Really good narration in the audiobook, I always enjoy dual narration for male and female characters.

Overall, a much loved and well recommended read. Tay Mo’Nae has yet to disappoint me. Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an advanced listening copy.

Just messy but with plot and premise!!!!

Let me start with this: the representation in this book? Phenomenal. Deafness, hard-of-hearing characters, and ASL weren’t just included as a plot device....they were thoughtfully woven into the story. That alone earns this book a special place on the shelf. 🤝🏾👏🏾

Now, about the romance... hummmm..... Let’s just say it came together a little too cleanly for my taste. I’m all for chemistry, but I need some messy closure before a fresh start. And while the story makes it clear that the fiancé was giving bare-minimum energy and letting his family trample everything from boundaries to basic respect, the leap from breakup to new romance felt rushed like skipping to dessert before clearing the dinner plates.

To be fair, Rome was everything his brother wasn’t: attentive, protective, emotionally present. And yes, watching him care for Nakyra was healing in all the right ways. But still... I wanted more unpacking, more resolution. Call me old school, but I like my chapters closed before we start a new one.

Despite a few predictable beats, I genuinely enjoyed this story. The emotional layers, the inclusion, and the spotlight on ASL made it stand out. Even if my take isn’t the popular one, I’m sticking beside it because complexity deserves conversation. Overall read it. The plot was plotting! 👍🏾😁

Okay this was my favorite book out of ALLLLLLL the books I read in June. This was so unique and I lovedddddd the way this read. No complaints truly. Everything from the FMC, to the MMC and how he took care of her and learned ASL for her PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I died. Its crazy how the shorter my review is the more you can tell i loved a book cause what else is there to say after that????? Like HAND HIM OVER NEOWWWWWWWWWW.

Ugh i love a good MMC swooping in to save a FMC from a situation or past relationship. Like my independent woman heart just cant take itttttttttt I love it so badddddddd come save me from myself for real omg.

NaKyra is engaged to marry an arrogant jerk. Rome is more concerned with his image and taking over the family business than making Kyra feel seen, supported, and loved.

Then, tragedy strikes, and Kyra learns more about herself and just how lonely she is.

Then comes the drama. She meets a man that is definitely forbidden fruit, but the way he makes her feel has her wanting to risk it all.

This was a story about following your heart no matter what other people think.

I absolutely loved the disability rep and Fall vibes.

Oh, and don’t let the cute cover fool you. This book was extremely spicy. 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars. Hear My Heart is a romantic SPICY DRAMA about a deaf woman named Nakyra, whose life takes an unexpected turn when her fiancé, Rome, is in life changing a car accident. Between the never ending disrespect she endures from her future parents-in-law and the unknowing state of her fiancé, Nakyra finds comfort and love with her grieving fiancé’s brother, Creed.

Hear me out….they have got to stop putting cute cartoon covers on every romance book, for people like me. I saw this cover and thought oh that’s cute, looks like they going to have a nice picnic, it’s fall time, probably eat some nice treats, this must be a cozy romance…it was everything I was not expecting, it’s was good though.

Cheating is never the answer but the way Nakyra was treated and disrespected by her fiancé and his parents, had me talking out load 😆and I’m not even upset with how it turned out for Rome🤷🏾‍♀️ I don’t think she needs to be in any relationship but this is just a book. I enjoyed this read. It definitely kept my attention.

This was sooo cute! ☺️ The perfect warm and fuzzy fall read. The FMC, Nakyra, has a hearing impairment, and I think the author did a great job researching and portraying the experiences of individuals with this disability. People often deem them inadequate, but in reality, they’re incredibly strong for navigating life without one of their senses.

Nakyra went through a lot of challenges in this story—especially dealing with Rome’s pompous ass—but she eventually found love in Creed. 🥰 Now don’t get me wrong, even though this story was sweet and cute, it was definitely messy too. 😅

Camilla, Creed’s friend, was funny af—I loved her dialogue! And those parents? They can kick rocks.

3.75⭐️🌶️🌶️ This book was done very well, especially with incorporating a non-hearing/deaf FMC with a hearing MMC and how the barriers did nothing to take away from their chemistry. I did feel like the book was a tad bit too long, and the villains of the story, i.e. Rome and his parents/father, got exactly what they deserved. I feel like Creed did everything top-tier besides withholding information from NaKyra. I would have liked a little bit more in the epilogue of their life after the relationship began.

A Sweet cover with a good, messy story indeed. Creed x Nakyra ❤️

Tuh not his little brother coming in to take his woman! Cant take yo woman if you handling business bookie!! LOL anyways I figured out about the female lover early on being the cause behind the accident. The parents and Rome were most definitely trifling. The dad making the comment when Nakyra broke up with Rome pissed me off esp after revealing his “lover.” And Nakyra was wayyy too nice to the mama bc home girl would have gotten an ear full!!!

I devoured this book in one sitting. Listened to the audio thanks to NetGalley while at work and this story had me hooked.
Nakyra is deaf and ends up meeting Rome at a time in her life where she was feeling lonely. They end up engaged and Nakyra starts to lose her voice in the relationship. She started to bend to whatever Rome and his parents thought was best.
From the beginning I could not stand Rome! He never bothered to learn ASL to communicate with Nakyra and he was just straight up trash! But karma found its way to make Rome pay for his actions.
If you like some forbidden romance and close proximity then you will love this book. I for one am not mad about Nakyra and Creed😀

Such a sultry, yet cute read! I knew from the very beginning that I’d enjoy this book. Cover may be fluffy, but all the writing in this book is not.

This was a forbidden romance with fiancé’s brothers. Forced Proximity. Light BDSM. ASL representation.

Nakyra was such a kind-hearted FMC. She simply wanted to be loved, and exist in the space of the people she cared about. Many people often took her disability for weakness, but she found strength in it. Not having the best relationship with her parents caused her to grow to accept/settle for attention from the first person to truly “love” her. After 8 years, an accident occurred with her fiancé, and shortly after she had the opportunity to get to know his brother Creed. After time passes she realizes she’s been settling, and taking crumbs from her fiancé throughout their whole relationship.

Let’s just say once Creed comes in the picture she’s finally treated the way she’s should have been treated, cared for, loved on after so many years. He even learns ASL for her, and stands up to his egotistical parents for her!

I loved Nakyra and Creed! I’m glad they were able to get away from his family’s toxic behaviors, and live a life that serve them well.

Also there was a voyeur moment in this book that was 🥵 (book box photo had me GAGGED)

I believe this is my first book from this author, and it won’t be my last!
