A big storm rolls in causing huge waves crashing onto the beach along with heavy winds blowing the trees all around. After the storm, Myrtle and Max Turtle go for a swim. While in the water, they see the sand full of sea stars all stranded on the beach because they are tangled up into the sea kelp and can’t get free. Max swims over and asks if they need help. Once they tell him they do, he gets as many of the animals together to do a rescue mission. Are the animals able to free all the sea stars and bring them back to the ocean safely?

Opinion:
This was a really adorable story for readers of all ages to enjoy. I loved reading how the two sea turtles realized the sea stars needed help and they didn’t hesitate to call upon the other nearby animals to help them rescue the sea stars. It teaches children that even if you are different than someone else, if that person or animal needs help, lend a hand and see how you can help them out. This is a beautiful lesson that children could learn at a young age and easily take it into their adulthood.

Another lesson that rang true throughout was how all the animals came together and worked as a team to rescue the helpless sea stars. This also teaches children that if you work as a team, you can accomplish so much more together. It was wonderful seeing turtles, seagulls, dolphins and even sea otters coming together to work side-by-side to find a resolution to the sea stars’ problem.

The illustrations provided by Chau Pham were not only full-page and found on every single page, but they were done in crisp, vibrant colors that eagerly pull the reader’s eye visually into the story. Each picture complemented the storyline perfectly. Ms. Pham is an illustrator from Vietnam. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

Ms. Welton is an award-winning author and publisher with a lifelong passion for literacy. She has a diverse background in the publishing industry, ranging from positions such as editor, vice president, publisher, and even director. Her writing celebrates the beauty of beaches, birds, and wildlife for all to enjoy.

Overall, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Sea Star is a book that can be appreciated by readers of all ages. It has a wonderful storyline and well-developed characters, as well as beautiful illustrations for readers to fully immerse themselves in as they turn the pages. It comes highly recommended!

Such a sweet story about friends helping one another! The pictures were absolutely gorgeous and so colorful, and my son really enjoyed looking at the pictures with me and pointing out the different sea creatures. The story is super simple and involves rhyming words, which I think makes it easier for young children to read. My son knew a lot of the words. Overall, just a super sweet book that kids of all ages will love!

*I was given this book as an Arc but my review is based solely on my own thoughts and opinions*

Kind of threw me off, thought it might have something to do with the song or sound like it or rhyme but it has nothing to do with it. I think it’s a clever title but has nothing to do with the story. Also, why is the turtle the king? Characters pop up out of nowhere that I know nothing about. The book is fun, it’s about teamwork and helping others out. So a good message and the illustration are nice and vibrant. Just wish there was more of an actual story, felt maybe like this was apart of a series and I was missing information from other books. (Totally found out after that there is a book before this one that explains the turtle, that information should be in the title, book 2, so I have a better understanding that I will be missing some important information).

GOODREADS GIVEAWAY

Thank you Goodreads Giveaway and author Kathleen Welton. The bright illustrations will catch the attention of little ones. The story is whimsical yet has a deeper meaning. The content develops awareness of preserving sea life, the role of community, and the importance of working together. Learning concepts include counting and identifying animals. For a better fit with the cast of sea creatures, I would have used a diurnal water bird instead of an owl. The rhythm of the rhymes at times was irregular. By being more pleasing to the ear, a consistent meter would have added to the enjoyment of the text. I will be reading this to the toddlers in my family. They will like it.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Sea Star by Kathleen Welton is a children's book about the ocean and some of the creatures that live in the ocean, like a sea star:) The illustrations are bright and colorful and the story rhymes perfectly, for younger children. I love how when the sea stars get stuck in the kelp they need help from someone else. This is where Max the Sea turtle king and Myrtle along with other other friends come to the rescue! They come up with a rescue mission to save the sea stars. Will it work? You need to read the book and find out!
This is an excellent read about saving animals that are in trouble and the message about helping save animals is critical for younger kids. I love that the author put this message into her work. I highly recommend this one!

The first time readers met Myrtle, she was a girl who fell into the sea. Max the sea turtle heard her calling for help and urged the ocean creatures to catch her. After her rescue, Max transformed her into a sea turtle and they both had a wonderful time with their ocean friends.

Now Max and Myrtle hear someone else calling for help. There has been a powerful storm and many sea stars have been swept up and stranded on the beach. The turtles once again call on other animals to help - dolphins, otters, even ducks and owls gather up the sea stars and help Max and Myrtle safely take them back out to sea.

Rhyming text and brightly colored illustrations capture the action. The owls and otters call out, “We’ll work together right away!” Readers can observe sea stars trapped in kelp on the shore, birds airlifting them on a carpet, otters and dolphins joining Max and Myrtle to carry the sea stars out to the deeper water. A humorous rescue with ducks and dolphins singing “Save the sea stars stranded on land” is sure to elicit a few giggles as well as sighs of relief at the happy ending.
