I received a free copy of this book to review, I love T.G. And her books are simply awesome. I have read everything she has published so far and Blood and Gold did not disappoint at all. I love the characters, they are strong and I feel like they are very relatable. I also love the feel of cultural insights into Maya's life and family and friends. The mythology and demons and magic is captivating. Maya is a strong young main character and I loved reading book two and seeing how she grew into her ...more

This is the second book in the Hand of Kali books! Maya is still trying to deal with being the Hand of Kali and all of the gods being real. A very fun book with a lot of action. I love the Indian (India)type to add to the paranormal genre. Gives you a whole new set of gods and creatures to love or hate! It also deals with how woman are treated in that culture and Maya is a girl who stick up for women and will not take crap. I love this! It also teaches in a way that woman do not have to stand ba ...more

I’ve been to India several times and have always loved its culture (and architecture and, unfortunately for my waistline it’s yummy food). I’ve always wondered why there were not more English language fiction books based on Indian mythology. After all, it’s at least as fulsome and complex as that if the Greeks, Roman’s, Norse etc. Well, maybe the world was just waiting for TG Ayer to come along for The Hand of Kali Series most definitely addressss that need. It’s first book, Fire & Shadow, w ...more

A very good read

This is a very good story full of plenty of twists and turns. The only reason I gave it such a low rating is because I have never read a book that has had so many misspelled and grammatically incorrect words as this one. At about the 3rd chapter I started highlighting them and found I was doing that about every second to third page, usually two or three words each time. If I were to go back and count them it wouldn't surprise me to find the number close to one hundred or more. Th

A wonderful second book! I love all the mythology, I will admit I don't know much about this culture, and I'm so glad that the story isn't about the standard Greek or Roman myths. Maya is continuing to grow and so is her magic. We get a deeper understanding of her parents in this one, which I enjoyed. There is mystery, suspense, and excitement on every page! I couldn't put it down.

Maya's trials continue, from having to taste demon Blood so that her sense of smell for different types of demons is enhanced, to bring betrayed by the snake goddess, and to saving her friend, Ria, from her abusive husband.
Great p!ot and characters, full of action and twists. Look ing forward to book 3!!

This series just as wonderful as any she’s written. I was pulled in at the beginning and thrilled to the end. Makes me wonder what the next journey will be.
I received a advance reading copy.

Blood & Gold opens in what seems to be an entirely different direction in the Hand of Kali series. It is actually just expanding it's reach for the other characters in Maya's life to be able to contribute to the story. Toward the middle of the book I couldn't put it down. I love the adventures T.G. Ayer writes and how they can be simple, but well thought out. My favorite parts were, of course, Maya and Nick's alone time together. There is a particular scene I have in mind while writing this ...more

Tee is one of my favorite writers and she didnt disappoint with this one. She has the way of pulling you into a story that you didnt expect and keep everything going that you have to keep reading. I had to find out what happened to maya and if she would be successful in her task. Then ria was added and it made you feel for the girl and want to help her. Makes me appreciate more and more I am able to make my own decisions and not be controlled. I look forward to the next book but she has me spinn ...more

This series just keeps getting better and better! Definitely one of those series that you would want to read over and over again. The fluidity of the writing is fantastic! Can't wait to read the next book!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

For most of her life Maya had been skeptical about her parents religious beliefs and the work they do for the goddess Kali. Discovering that she is the Hand of Kali, however, and meeting some members of the Hindu pantheon has understandably given her a new perspective on things. And so it is that we find her now accompanying her parents on the job as the second installment in this series opens. I liked getting a chance to see what her paren

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidante ...more
