Love hurts, even when the pain isn't intentional.

Bunny Jones has a secret life…

By day, she’s an investigative assistant who blends into the background. By night, she’s the Shadow Siren—a ruthless vigilante delivering brutal justice to men who hurt women.

The only person she can’t seem to hide from is the detective who knows her better than anyone, because he’s already helped her cover up a murder—her husband’s.

Hunter Remington has always wanted all of Bunny—her heart, her trust, her darkness. But after surviving an abusive marriage, she’s hesitant to open herself up to love again.

When a reckless night leads to an unplanned pregnancy, Bunny must choose between the violent life that gives her power and the man who sees every broken part of her—and still wants more.

As anonymous threats surface and old enemies rise from the dead, Bunny is forced to confront the truth: Hunter’s obsession might be the only thing keeping her alive.

Obsession cuts both ways, though, and when her secret identity is exposed, love might not be enough to save her.

Sirens & Stilettos by D.L. Darby the second book in the Serial Killer Book Club was everything I needed. If you have not read book one and don’t want spoilers you should read in order. Darby did such a great job weaving all the characters and time lines. This runs kinda parallel with Dolls & Daggers. This is set three years after these two meet so I also enjoyed the chapters that give us more details into their past.

Bunny Jones and Hunter Remington really give the title complicated new meaning. These two were so good together and the love they had it was just all the other things that seemed to be in the way. I have been A Jackson fan out of all of Darby’s MMC’s but Hunter has landed right there with him. His consistent and unwavering love for Bunny was beautiful. His sense of humor, loyalty the stalking for protection and give me the slutty glass and curly hair, YES! How many times did I sigh for Hunter? I dont know it was a lot! This man checked all the boxes.

Sometimes I really wanted to smack Bunny but also hug her because we all deal with our pain and fear in different ways. I really felt she was the grumpy one in this relationship. I love the relationship between the girls.

—“𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘉𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘺. 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”—

We had already meet Vixey previously but we get so much more here. We are also introduced to Todd. It just makes me so much more excited for the next book.

Amazing book highly recommend this series if you enjoyed the vibes of midf*ck, she is the killer and he is in law enforcement. Now I can’t wait for the reread audiobook releasing soon too.

This was the second book in the series, and I honestly love this series so much! I was beyond excited for Bunny’s story, and it definitely did not disappoint.

I absolutely adore the ladies of the Serial Killers Book Club. The flashbacks added so much depth and made me like Bunny even more than I already did. And Hunter? He was truly the best.

The plot twists were absolutely amazing and kept me hooked from start to finish. I wanted to read all day and forget about all my responsibilities, I genuinely couldn’t put this book down.

I can’t wait for Vixey’s book!

Another Banger! I was absolutely hooked from the beginning. I loved how we were taken back in time to learn more about their journey. The way she tied in book One was perfect, being an interconnected series on the same time line, Darby weaves them together seamlessly.

I have so many quotes highlighted thay it would be impossible to list them all. One i will highlight is "you spicy chicken nugget" because I laughed so much when I got to that part.

The push and pull between our 2 MCs will have you wanted to shake and choke them as well as melt. I cant recommend this series more!

"𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭. 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴. 𝘐𝘵 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘱𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮. 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦."

Let me start my review by telling you that I was lucky enough to receive an early arc for this book by the author and I am so happy. I devoured the first book; Dolls and Daggers. I finished this read in less than 24 hours. This book had me crashing so hard. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more bipolar while reading a book. I was 40% angry, 10% cursing, 30% fangirling, and 20% crying and honestly, that math feels generous. I’m extremely conflicted about my rating, because this could have easily been a 5/5 for me but I am conflicted between giving it a 3,5 or an 4.

"𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶... 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩. 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭-𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩-𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦-𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦. 𝘐𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 - 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘦. 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘮𝘦."

First things first: Dove and Wren are definitely included in this book, which I appreciated. We also get dual POVs (Hunter and Bunny's), and several new characters are introduced; three of them feel like they’re being set up for book three. I love the cover, and I already know I need the paperback on my shelf. I also think I might even love Bunny more than I loved Dove and that is saying something. Bunny’s flaws and emotional depth completely stole my heart. I loved how afraid she is to open up, to let Hunter truly see her, terrified that once he looks beneath the mask, he’ll break her. I also loved that Hunter mirrors her fear of abandonment, and that he loved her from the very beginning (what do you mean he practically magic-ed her??). That part had me feral.

"𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦. 𝘐'𝘥 𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵 - 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵: 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵."

I was slightly confused about why book two starts midway through the first book. That could have easily been handled as a brief mention instead. Ignoring that, I still felt like this story was missing something that the first book had. Maybe it’s because in book one, we learn early on why Wren is the way he is, which really helps build his character. With Hunter, the major revelations come at the end. I think it would’ve worked better if those twists were revealed earlier or midway through, to deepen his storyline. Instead, we got multiple twists back-to-back at the end, one issue resolved, then a few pages later, another twist drops which felt overwhelming rather than impactful.

"𝘈𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘔𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦."

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅:
• The unexpected pregnancy trope is one I usually stay far away from because I truly don’t like it. It often leaves me questioning the relationship like, is a baby really the only reason two people are together? Where is the love in that? But D.L. Darby might be the only author so far who has made this trope readable for me. In Hunter and Bunny’s case, the baby wasn’t the reason they ended up together. It felt more like a glue, something that forced them to confront their traumas and move forward instead of staying stuck in them. And that made all the difference.
• I love Bunny. I honestly feel like she’s even stronger than Dove. After everything she went through, she still cares deeply even if she can’t always show it in the way people expect or want her to. Coming out of trauma like that can either break someone or build them, and for Bunny, it did both. That duality is what made her feel so real to me. There were chapters that genuinely broke my heart, especially the moments where she was left hanging by the very people she loved. All she wanted was for them to understand her without her having to say it out loud. And I get that so much. Sometimes you’re so afraid to voice what you need or want that you shut down completely, convincing yourself that silence is safer than exposing your weaknesses or flaws. Bunny living in that space felt painfully authentic.
• I also loved the movie and song references throughout the book; I definitely need to rewatch some of them now. I laughed at the jokes, loved the banter between Hunter and Bunny (and Hunter and Wren), and completely obsessed over Hunter’s obsession with Bunny. I mean… he practically magic-ed her and I am still fangirling over that.
• I had one dislike (I think) for the first book; Wren not having any hobbies (him not having a life of his own), in this book Hunter had his own life and family/friends. He had, besides Bunny, his own world and I enjoyed that because it made the character so much more realistic.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅:
• This book made me dislike Dove, and that is a huge thing for me. Dove was so smart and sharp in the first book, and that intelligence felt completely missing here. It rubbed me the wrong way. I also hated that she seemed to have no time for Bunny, yet allowed another girl to enter what was supposed to be their two-girl dynamic. I just can’t reconcile this version of Dove with the Dove from book one, it didn’t feel like her.
• I have a serious love/hate relationship with Hunter. I loved him at the beginning of the book, but by the end? I was furious. I can understand being hurt by being brushed aside, but it’s not like Bunny shows no feelings toward him and he knows that. What do you mean he leaves her right after a HUGE EVENT while knowing she’s being stalked? What do you mean he lets another girl wear his shirt? What do you mean he can tell everyone else how he feels but can’t tell Bunny, the one person who actually matters? He had me so upset that I was genuinely ready to throw the book at the wall (didn’t, because it was late, everyone was asleep, and the book was my phone).
• And lastly… I DISLIKE Vixey. Sorry, not sorry. She made me angry basically every single time she was on the page. I didn’t trust her, I didn’t like her, and she felt incredibly intrusive and forced. I hated the way she tried to wedge herself between Dove and Bunny. I hated her flirting with Hunter. I hated that she was wearing nothing but Hunter’s shirt in his freaking apartment just because she “had no one else to turn to.” Who wears the shirt of someone you claim to see as a brother and nothing else underneath it?

Oh man, the squeal I squealed when I got the email about getting an ARC copy of this...pretty sure I scared my toddler.

Okay, wow. I have been waiting on Bunny and Hunter's story since I finished Dolls and Daggers (which, wow what a lucky find for me). While Dove and Wren's story was fantastic, I was anxiously (and I mean anxiously...counting down the days until Feb) waiting for Bunny and Hunter's story! The tension in the first book had me hooked. The bonus scene in the bar bathroom? Had me salivating for their story. And let me tell you, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

I love how their history is interspersed through present day and how we also get their side of things while Dove and Wren figure their shit out. Some of those scenes in the past....uffda. The author really pulled at those heart strings... the push and pull between these two just shreds you at parts.

And then to follow along as Bunny's head catches up with her heart? Oof. I'm a little in love with Hunter now. Without spoiling anything, I gotta say that that "receipe" scene nearly brought me to tears. 😭

Also, wow, the bathroom scene...from Bunny's POV KILLED ME. 😭😭😭

Loved the cameos from the Angels of Désirer series too! 💖

Overall, 100/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. So worth the wait!!! Can't wait to learn more about Vixey and Todd!

Oh my goodness! This book is unapologetically hot, wildly fun, and impossible to put down. This book sizzles—the chemistry is off the charts—and I was hooked from the first page.

Bunny and Hunter absolutely stole my heart. Their banter is sharp, their connection is electric, and I laughed out loud more than once—especially at the bite (you’ll know when you get there 😏). It’s the perfect mix of sexy, playful, and just unhinged enough to keep things deliciously unpredictable.

The jerky making its way into the story was such a fun, grounding touch, and the chicken inspired by my friend Lauren and her furry farm made me grin like an idiot. Those little personal moments add so much charm and make the world feel lived-in and real—even when things are getting delightfully feral.

If you like your reads steamy, funny, and packed with characters you want to be friends with, this one is a must. D.L. Darby delivers heat, heart, and humor in heels—and I loved every second of it.

P.S. I still want to be friends with Dove and Bunny.

Quote 💜: " I knew I loved you long before I met you, Little Rabit. You've been my dream for a long, long time."

"Always, Little Rabbit. I'll always catch you when you fall. I promise"

D.L., you outdid yourself. I was telling her before I even finished that this was going to become my favorite, and the second I was done, I ran right over to confirm it. Total smash hit for me. I am dying over the Temu comment 😂 Chapter 28 🥵🥵🥵 and that certain part discussed… GIRRRLLLL. Freakin’ hot. The Pluto part had me laughing and sent me straight back in time 🤣 and yes, I fully agree with it. This book hooked me from the very beginning and had me locked in until the very end. The tension? Absolutely everywhere. The emotions? Oh yeah. One minute I wanted to hug someone, the next I was ready to smack someone upside the head. There’s a little bit of everything you could want in a story, and the spice was spicing. Kudos on mentioning Inuyasha, which is one of my favorite anime. D.L., you did a marvelous job bringing Hunter and Bunny to life. Amazing, fantastic, and all those words that mean “get on this book” when it comes out.

You will just love Hunter & Bunny.

First, she wrote Tyler- utter perfection.

Then, she brought us Tripp- dirty talking cinnamon roll.

Now, she brings us HUNTER!
The perfect combination of “touch her and die” and “I’ll do anything for her”.

Bunny & Hunter are my favorite of this series so far!
They have a deliciously complicated relationship, stemming from years of yearning, and being just out of reach.

Bunny is an absolute badass. Period. No notes.
She’s complicated, head strong, and quiet honestly a damn good judge of character… (is she a Virgo?)

Hunter is a goner when it comes to Bunny, waiting for her to be ready for him for years. And lord when it finally happens!!!
::SQUEAL::

I loved getting to have Dove and Wren in this book and learning about Vixey! I can’t wait for her book and to find out who her main man’s going to be!

Literally screaming that I got an ARC of this book. This one starts off during Dolls and Daggers and you get to see the built up sexual tension as well as the past that originally brought Hunter and Bunny together. I could not put this book down between the banter and the anticipation of how their story would end. Hunter knew what he wanted and damn if he didn't wait and play the long game to get his girl. Bunny aka Shadow Siren sure had her heart protected even when she knew she wanted to give in to her deepest desires while struggling to figure out what that meant for her future. This book definitely takes the number one spot for this series, not to mention we got a sneak peak at the next couple.

Sirens and stilettos... soo much better than dolls and daggers and let me say that is saying alot!!! Hunter is my favorite character and he has my feels for the whole book! Getting to know Bunny on a deeper level and understandering her and Hunter is was makes this book a 5 out of 5 stars. I don't give those lightly either. I received this book at read 1/2 of it in 5 hours. It had me on the verge of tears. And let me say I don't like sappy books, I'm more of a thriller, modern mystery girl. But this story hit my heart like I did NOT expect. Darby let these characters write their own story and they nailed it! There are a few surprises awaiting you once you get your hands on this beautiful love story! Thank you @dldarby for letting me into your world a little early!!!

This was a 5 stilettos read for me! I loved this, the way hunter loves and is there for bunny just ugh I can’t with how cute that man is. The banter between them was so good I laughed so much, oh and I love that we get more relationship between the girls ( bunny and dove) I freaking love them so much. The best worst serial killers ever lol. Oh god and those flashbacks, they gave so much insight into bunny’s and hunters past and wow I’m heart broke for them both. I cried, laughed and was shocked. It has great suspense, the way this man holds a torch for my girl is like no other. 10/10 definitely recommend reading this book. I’m so glad I was able to get the chance to arc read this.

I was so excited to see this in my inbox! I LOVED book one and got a few of my friends to read it as well.

This book was everything I was hoping it would be and so much more. I loved all the nods to book one and all the hints for book three. It makes it all feel very stitched together and made so much sense.

The emotions were everywhere with this one and it had all the right touches for what these two have gone through and go through together.

The way they compliment each other is so well done.

D.L. Darby has yet to fail and has become an author I will always buy from.

Hunter and Bunny were everything I was hoping they would be! Bunny had a rough relationship and that made it hard for her to truly trust and commit, obviously causing issues. Hunter might just be the most patient man I’ve ever seen, but he knew that it would all be worth it. Their story was fun, funny, spicy, difficult, and frustrating at times but it was all worth it in the end. The whole story was amazing and there was definitely some drama and twists that I wasn’t expecting! I can’t wait for the next one!

So excited to have been given the opportunity to ARC read this book. I found the first book in this series last June when it was released and read it and absolutely LOVED it. So when I saw book 2 was coming out I was very excited and knew I had to read it

I love Bunny and Hunter's relationship and that we get to see both the present and the past of their story, including things that happened during the time that Dolls and Daggers took place.

Darby is easily becoming one of my favorite dark romance writers and I cannot wait to see what happens in book 3

A perfectly done book 2. The book stays on theme and I love it for that. The characters are night and day from book 1 which I also loved. He falls first in the most obsessive way. Hunter is a detective who wants one thing in life. Her name is Bunny. (Yes there are pet names in here; Hunter and his bunny rabbit 💜) All bunny wants is Hunter, but she has a troubled past and can’t seem to give her whole heart away. Their cat and mouse game is the strongest I’ve ever read and I lived for the slow burn 🔥.

Hunter is my reason for 4 starting this book. I liked Bunny in Dolls and Daggers, I kinda hate her now. The friendship between Bunny and Dove continues to be a highlight and the addition of Vixey is amazing. I can’t wait for her book, something tells me her story will be the worst of the three. I loved that we got Bunny and Hunter’s backstory and the start of the Siren. It was a great book but be prepared to hate the FMC lol.

Learning so much of the past really puts everything into perspective. Things were high tension with so much back and forth for most of the book. Which is something I usually don't like because the repetativeness tends to get overdone by the end of the book, but I didn't feel that way with how it all played out. It all fell into place exactly as it should have when it should have.
