In a battle for control of the time stream, the past and the future will collide, either saving mankind—or destroying it.

What should be a routine mission leaves Ethan with a serious problem. He’s fractured, a break between mind and body that leaves him at the mercy of his Rifter abilities, which are quickly tearing him apart. He will have to trust the only person who might

4.5 Stars!

With craziness that was book two, I had to pick this third installment up immediately after finishing it. I couldn't wait to find out what was going on and happening next. The way the second book ended was almost cruel, or at least would have been if not for book three sitting right next to me demanding to be opened and devoured. And even though I knew this wouldn't necessarily give me the answers I was looking for since this really in just an extension of book two but told through Eth

I want to thank Clean Teen Publishing for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give an honest review. Receiving this book for free has in no way altered my opinion or review.

If you have not read book 1 or 2 of this series STOP HERE! I don't want to ruin anything (and since this book follows the same time line as the second one, you will get spoilers if you have not read it!). And if you have not read either, what are you waiting for?

This book follows the same time line as Stein's bo

While Riven follows the beginning time line of Prodigal, it splits and tells us what happen to Ethan, and the others while Ember and Stein where off visiting Tesla. This writing duo had me holding my breath as we faced danger and traveled the time-stream.

The tale focuses on Ethan. He and Lex are on a mission rifting and collecting items when something goes terribly wrong. This causes Ethan to fracture, and the tale that follows was intense and geek-tastic. He gets help controlling things from St

I received both Prodigal and Riven as ARCs. Prodigal is the story of Stein and and Riven the story of Ethan. They take places within the same time frame so I personally enjoyed reading them together as if they were one book. Without giving away too much information... both books explore the past of the two Rifters and how it effects them in the present and the future. Definitely some surprise twists to the plot that readers of Extracted would never expect! Great read!

I won this book from first reads - it came along with the second book in the series and I reviewed them both together as one. You can read it under the Prodigal by the same authors.

I enjoyed this book, though as I said in the other review - it would do well as the second half to the second book rather than a stand alone novel as it is so small and such a quick read. I think it felt like an even faster read since it was quite the adventure and kept moving from cover to cover.

This is an interesting time travel book. I haven't read the first two books of the series, but I was able to figure out what was going on. As a history lover, I had a few geek out moments when I figured out who some of the main characters were.

There were a few plot holes and timey wimey problems, and some of the beginning wasn't as interesting, though that may be because I hadn't read the first two books and wasn't as connected to the main characters as I should've been.

The path the authors take to tell the story is not always the way I would expect. Sometimes it feels like we are going the wrong way, but it's far from that. The path takes us right where the characters need to be. I really enjoyed the journey of Ethan's here and what he learns of himself and around him. Ethan's venture takes place in the same time frame as Prodigal and ends in the same place, but where he goes and what he learns is completely different. And mind-blowing. I'm wondering where the ...more

5 time-bending stars!

‘Prodigal’ and ‘Riven’ are the second and third entries in a series of 4 steampunk time-travel novels. Please read ‘Extracted’ before continuing this review.

As with ‘Extracted,’ authors Ficklin and Jolley seamlessly integrate steampunk inventions, clothing, and accessories into a clear to follow and fast-paced plot. The main characters and their significant others are developed and complex. Whereas ‘Extracted’ is told through the duel points of view of Lex and Ember, ‘Prodi

I was given the ebooks for Prodigal and Riven in exchange for an honest review. Prodigal and Riven are the second and third books in the Lost Imperials Series. I loved the first book, Extracted. It's focus was on brother and sister, Lex and Ember. Prodigal focuses on Stein, Lex's girlfriend and her story, while Riven focuses on Ethan, Ember's boyfriend. It's so great seeing the backstories of the other lead characters from the first book while seeing the continuation of their stories. Everything ...more

Oh my goodness, I started reading Riven expecting to not enjoy this installment like I had the former two, but OMG! SO GOOD! I love this series SO much.

Riven is a companion to Prodigal so there is a lot of the same beginning text, the first few chapters are almost exactly the same except told from Ethan's point of view instead of Stein's. Then they branch, Stein goes one way and Ethan another and so we follow Ethan - an boy are there a lot of twists in this one. I thought that Stein's backgroun

Ended well

After reading books one and two, I was ready to move on with book three. And, even though this book did end by neatly tying them all together, it was pretty tough wading through the first 2\3s of the book. I actually turned to the back to see how it ended before I went back to pick up the story. There was already so much going on that adding more challenges made the story pretty busy reading. ...but, I did want to see how it all tied up and, I did like the ending.

Series only gets better. As the plot thickens and the story develops, I found myself becoming more and more fascinated with how this story would play out. Who was Evan in history? Why was he fracturing? What happened to everyone left at the conservatory? These and so many more questions bounced around in my head and I needed answers. While I only got some answers and a lot more questions I loved the journey and look forward to the next exciting chapter.
