The author does not claim to be an expert on Islam, but simply shares what he has learned on the topic. I felt it was a good introduction for me on a topic I knew zero about.

My one critique would be that it would have been better to exclude coverage of political and terrorist groups that are Islamic in a book that otherwise covers the history of the religion itself. Although I understand those grab the most headlines, by focusing on them the book seems to obsess on the negative aspects of Islam

For an introductory book on Islam it deserves the stars. His part on 'brindge-building' has some practical suggestions.
