Joseph Murphy was a Divine Science minister and author.
Murphy was born in Ireland, the son of a private boy's school headmaster and raised a Roman Catholic. He studied for the priesthood and joined the Jesuits. In his twenties, an experience with healing prayer led him to leave the Jesuits and move to the United States, where he became a pharmacist in New York (having a degree in chemistry by that time). Here he attended the Church of the Healing Christ (part of the Church of Divine Science), where Emmet Fox had become minister in 1931.
In the mid 1940s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes, and was ordained into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, thereafter teaching at the Institute of Religious Science. A meeting with Divine Science Association president Erwin Gregg led to him being reordained into Divine Science, and he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he built into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the country. In the next decade, Murphy married, earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California and started writing. After his first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who was his longstanding secretary. He died in 1981.

Sadly, I didn´t get to read much of this book since I had to return it to the library.
But I can´t give any book penned by Joseph Murphy less than five stars; he is a master and one of the all-time great spiritual teachers.
The book consists of many short extracts from Murphy´s writings and can best be used as a work of reference; it is not suitable to read from beginning to end.
It contains chapters such as Understanding the Laws of the Subconscious, The Dynamic Power of your Thoughts and Affirmations, The Amazing Power of Belief and Faith and the Miraculous Power of Prayer.
Here are some of his words of wisdom:
“When you pray, you are not praying to a God ‘out there’, you are praying to the Healing Presence that is within and throughout you."
“Take time every day to quiet your mind and affirm; ‘Thank you, Father, for Thy riches now.’ Lull yourself to sleep with ‘Thank you’ on your lips. Give thanks for what you now possess and for your many blessings. Count these one by one and God will multiply your good exceedingly.”
“Do not ask for just enough to get by. You don´t want just enough to get by. Be bold enough to claim that it is your right to be rich, and your deeper mind will honour your claim. You are here to lead the life more abundant.”
I highly recommend this book as a work of reference that you can consult whenever you need inspiration or help.

This book presented similar ideas to other self-help books. However, it supported its ideas with unique examples, which made it enlightening to read. Overall, it was an easy and very pleasurable read. ( I read it in the Russian translation.)

Amazing book!
I absolutely loved this book. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read on staying healthy. It has good techniques you can use to create what you desire. I’ve tried some of the techniques on how to stay healthy and they worked for me. This is the type of book that you would keep and reread whenever you need to solve a problem or get some inspiration.
