Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.

Don't honestly remember much of this one. The MCs were okay but there was too much sneaking around because she was his best friend's little sister.

I do remember thinking her brother was a pompous douche. Apparently it's cool when your friend "chases skirts" all his life and never settles down but as soon as he starts sniffing around your sister, suddenly he is a hound dog and not good enough for her? I hate that. The H wasn't a man whore but he was a serial dater and never really had any lasting relationships. He never treated anyone badly or with regard to their feelings and his supposed best friend should know this.

Anywhos it was an okay read. They get their HEA and make up with the brother (although personally I would have written him off and just moved on!)

Sweet and Sexy!!! I did love this one! It was such and easy read.. great steam, awesome characters, very little angst... and it was a page turner for me... Even simple easy books like this can be a 5 star for me if I don't want to put it down... it's not always necessary for a book to be gripping and intense.. sometimes just a sweet cupcake book can do it for me.. and this one did.

FIVE 'I WANT THIS' STARS!

This is the first book by in the Rivers Edge series by the talented Lacey Black. This is her debut novel, and I was very impressed with the quality of Ms. Black's writing. She has a natural story teller's ability, and she was able to weave a very believable romance with likable characters that the readers easily become invested in. I am a total sucker for small town romances and for the older brother's best friend/best friend's little sister storyline, so Ms. Black hit two of my favorites in one swing with this opening story to what promises to be a great series.

Avery Stevens is a 22 year old single mom to 4 year old, Brooklyn, and the youngest sibling to four over protective older brothers. Brooklyn's father is not in the picture, wanting no part of being a dad or a partner to Avery. She hasn't had much luck in love, and she's got some issues with trusting men. She's had an unrequited crush on her brother, Jake's, best friend for years.

"I don't want to do this alone forever."

Maddox Jackson is Jake Stevens' childhood best friend. They were in the Marines together, and they are now partners on Rivers Edge's police department. He isn't looking to settle down, he's happy playing the field with no commitments to any woman and can't imagine his life any other way. He may admit to himself that he is very attracted to Avery, but he lives by the "bro code" that she is off limits.

"Avery Stevens is the most stunning woman I've ever seen."

Avery and Maddox have a few run-ins and strike up a friendship, which, of course, blossoms into more than either was looking for or expected. Their attraction to one another is strong, and it isn't long before they can no longer fight that pull. Maddox is having feelings he's never felt before about Avery and about Brooklyn. He's surprised to find that he doesn't want to fight those feelings either.

"Do you want this? This life with me?"

Avery has always been attracted to Maddox but never believed that she had any chance with him. When they start spending time together, she realizes that she's not just attracted to him, she has feelings for him. Of course, she has to find a way to get past her trust issues, and that doesn't come easily for her. Added to all of this is the fact that they're hiding their relationship from everyone, including Jake.

This is a great story about two people so obviously meant for each other, finding their way towards a life together they never expected. There is nasty drama from outside forces, interference from well meaning big brothers, and distrust and doubt for them to navigate. Will Avery let go of her distrust to embrace a future with Maddox? Will Maddox realize that everything he never knew he wanted is right there for the taking? How will Jake react to their relationship?

Ms. Black has penned an absolute winner with this impressively well written, romantic and steamy small town tale. She's laid the groundwork for a great series with characters that you cannot help but want to know more about, and she has painted a wonderful backdrop of family, friendship and small town goodness. I'm glad to have discovered this author, and with this book alone, she's easily become a favorite. I loved this story so much! I'm very excited for the next book in this series, and all the others that will follow. Congratulations on a fantastic debut, Lacey Black!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Maddox Jackson!! My new favorite book boyfriend is a hot, gorgeous, sweet, police officer. Maddox is the whole package.

In Trust Me, Avery Stevens is a twenty-two year old single mother. After being betrayed by her ex, she is hesitant to put her heart and her daughter’s on the line.

Avery has been secretly in love with her brother’s best friend for as long as she can remember. But being her brother’s friend, he is off limits.

Neither of them can continue to deny the pull they have to each other. Once they take a chance, neither of them can let go.

This story had me hooked from the first chapter. It slowed along so smoothly and I loved both Maddox and Avery together. They were perfect.

Definitely one of my favorite books this year! I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Trust Me: Rivers Edge Book One by Lacey Black

Trust Me is one of those stories that has a combination of sweet mixed in with enough angst to keep you wanting to turn the page.

Trust Me is set in the little town of Rivers Edge, Missouri and focuses on Avery Stevens and her adorable little girl Brooklyn aka Bean. Avery is the youngest of five siblings, and the only girl. She is surrounded by a loving and protective family. However, her brothers tend to be a little over protective. Especially when it comes to her love life.

Avery has been attracted to her oldest brothers best friend Maddox Jackson since she was a young girl. But not only has Maddox always seen her as his best friends tag along little sister, he's also determined to never settle down.

Black creates a story that is both relatable and down home country fun. She shows the strength of each character, as well as their flaws, while still keeping the storyline moving forward with enough twist and turns to have you guessing what's going to happen next.

Loved all the characters in the book and can not wait to dive into Fight Me, the second book in the series.

Avery Stevens has had a crush on Maddox Jackson since she was young, but being her brother's best friend she never thought her crush would go anywhere. Maddox has long thought of Avery as the pesky little sister, but she is all grown up and a single mom to an adorable toddler. Something in Maddox is stirring and his interest in Avery grows stronger every day. Wanting to see where it go he asks Avery out, but with their relationship a secret and Maddox known as the town player, Avery is worried she will lose her heart again. Is Maddox the type to settle down?

Great beginning to series. The chemistry between Maddox and Avery is off the charts. Avery's little girl is absolutely adorable. Very fun read, perfect summer romance.

This was a very light, sweet read. It was a little drawn out at times, but over all, a feel good romance with hot sexy scenes, an easy to follow plot and little hearts and flowers.
The only thing that bugged me is the way they kept their relationship secret for so long. I thought that it was over done and caused way more problems than if they just would have come out. I didn't care for the reactions some of the family members gave either. It didn't make sense for the brother to be so protective and not understand why the sister or his friend would keep it from him. I mean - duh! - you go crazy on anyone that gets close to her! Jeez...LOL, okay rant over. So like I said, sweet and fun - just a little OTT with the discretion the two kept.

This is my first Lacey Black book and definitely won’t be my last! Avery and Maddox are an unlikely pair, but that doesn’t make their love story any less intense.

☀️Small town romance
☀️Brother’s best friend
☀️Single mom
☀️Forbidden

Avery’s brother Jake made Maddox swear that he would never go after his sister. But it got to a point where the attraction was too strong and the chemistry between these two was just too undeniable to stay away.

I loved the progression of their relationship, but more so, I really loved Maddox’s relationship with her daughter Brooklynne. It was beautiful and heartwarming to see him become a softie and the father figure she never had.

4 Stars

Trust me was a really great stand alone story with a HEA. It was written from alternating POV's between Avery and Maddox so you always knew exactly what the main characters were thinking. I truly enjoyed this story and thought that Lacey's writing style flowed really well.

Lacey spent years pining over her older brother, Jake's best friend, Maddox. But she knew he was unattainable. She spent all of her time as a single mother, raising her young daughter, Brooklyn, after being betrayed by her first love. He guarded her heart and had major trust issues.

Maddox was the town player. He knew he didn't want to settle down and he made that abundantly clear to every woman he took to bed. But he couldn't shake the feelings he had for one girl. But that girl was strictly off limits because she was the sister of his best friend. But what happens when they stop denying the feelings they have for each other? Would Lacey be able to get over her trust issues and let Maddox in and would he be able to hang up his player hat and settle down? And how exactly would Jake handle the news?

I really did love the strong family bond in this book! Avery's family got together every Sunday for family dinner and when one was in trouble, they all put their lives on hold to be there for each other. Her brothers were so cute, in that overprotective brotherly way and her parents were just amazing. As far as Maddox and Avery's relationship goes, I know people who wish for that kind of connection. Their sparks were flying from the beginning of the story. I cheered for them and cried my eyes out at their HEA.

I was so happy that Lacey didn't add any unnecessary drama to this book. Avery and Maddox's love was breath of fresh air and while there was a bit of secrecy that surrounded it, there by no means was anything dark. The book was a great read and I did thoroughly enjoy it! Kudos, Lacey!! I can not wait for Jake's story!!

There is a lot of good reviews and I thought i should give it a try after all I love romances with older guys and kids.
It turns out that this story was so boring and unreal. As some of the reviews here said the characters act immature ( one of them is 32 years old, 10 years older than the heroine and acts like he is on his 20).
One thing that i hate more than insta-love is insta-lust that quickly turns to love and then suddenly they are happily married hahaha stupid really stupid. The hero's character was not build enough he'd say something about his grandmother, parents, sisters but we didnt met them it was just about the heroine and her 20 brothers or more hahah ( just kidding i think it was 5 brother after all the author is going to do a serie with all of them bléh) I skimmed all the sex scenes, i couldnt get the love between them for me it was just lust, the misurdestanding with the ex- hook up/ girlfriend was stupid and knew that it was comming, i wont get to the kid's father because it was unreal, i mean darling, if he doenst want to be part of her life ok, but he should be helping you with money or something duh! ( i dont know how US justice works in cases like that, but in my country i would be calling my lawyer)
Talking about the kid she was just the typical cutest thing, i liked her interactions with the brothers with the 'who is you fave uncle?' It was cute.
Sorry about the english, i'm so tired that I dont even care if i made grammar, spelling mistakes or whatsoever.

This is a debut novel by Lacey Black and it was fucking amazing with a capital A! One of the best debuts I have ever read and I can't wait for more. She has gained a huge fan!

Avery is twenty-two with a three year daughter named Brooklyn but everyone calls her Bean. Avery has been a single mom since the day she found out she was pregnant thanks to her ex-boyfriend that never wanted to have anything to do with them. She doesn't need him, she is strong and would do anything for her daughter and lucky enough to have the best parents in the world. She also has four older brothers that would do anything for her and maybe even go too far with protecting her as far as she is concerned but she loves them even more for it.

Maddox is Avery's oldest brother Jake's best friend. They have gone through High School, Military and cops together. They are also players, going out every weekend and leaving with a different girl every time. Avery has had a crush of Maddox since she was sixteen years but she was too young for him but she is not a little girl anymore but she believes he will always look at her as a kid sister....until he doesn't.

Avery knows how Maddox is with the ladies so she doesn't think anything could happen seriously between them. Maddox doesn't understand what it is about Avery but there is a pull to her like he has never felt with anyone before. He thought she was beautiful in the past but now it is different, she is not just the little sister anymore. He can not stop thinking about her piercing blue eyes, her laugh and even the way she is with her daughter. He knows he would break the man code with Jake but he can't fight it anymore.

They decide to see if there is anything between them and the chemistry is amazing! They are not sure where this is going so they keep it quiet. Avery has a hard time trusting people because of her past and Maddox has never been in a relationship so Why upset the family about if it doesn't go anywhere?

Avery and Maddox have so much fun together but can they go to the next level? Can she get past her trust issues? Can he actually see a future with Avery and Bean in it? All great questions and excited for you to get the full answers!

I loved this story! Forbidden love, single mom, bachelor for life hottie. It was sexy, sweet and emotional. Brooklyn is seriously the most adorable kid I have ever read about. She totally tugged at my heart and cried more than once when she was involved and she is with her mom, Maddox and all her Uncles. And Avery is just awesome....she is strong, sweet and so funny! Her inner thoughts are the best.

I highly recommend reading this book and can't wait to read the next one! Amazing job Lacey!

Quotes:

I spot the familiar face that has haunted my dreams since I was sixteen years old. The guy I've secretly watched, dreamed about, and crushed on for what seems like my entire life. The boy who doesn't even know I exist. The only one I can never have. My oldest brother's best friend, Maddox.

The last thing I need is to embarrass myself in from of the whole Steven's family . Jake would kick my ass if he knew what just happened below my belt. Hell, I want to kick my own ass right now.

We both watch as they go, get into their squad car and pull away. I feel the loss as I watch him get farther and farther away from me. But that view I was just treated to as he left? Well, let's just say, I do enjoy watching him leave. Maddox's ass in a police uniform should be illegal.

~~And have to throw in one for Bean.

As we wait, I reach down and pick up Brooklyn. "Have a great night tonight, Bean." She looks back at me , eyes full of innocence and says, "Have a great night wiff my mommy. She's the best mommy in the world."

5 PLUS Amazing, Sweet, and Oh So VERY SEXY Stars.......Did I mention how sexy, oh yes, it most certainly was!!!!!!!!

Oh yes, I finished this beauty of a book today and LOVED every single second of reading it!!!! I kid you not, this book was just that amazing of a read for me!

OK, so let me say that the moment I started this book, I was totally and completely HOOKED. The storyline was fantastic, flowed seamlessly and kept my interest from start to finish!!!!!!! My sis recommended this book to me and ironically I had just seen it on FB so since I was looking for a "lighter" read I thought ok, let me give it a try and oh boy I am so damn glad I did.

This book was exactly what I was looking for in that it was light, sweet, fun, extremely well-written, low on drama/angst and yet when I say hot as hell, YEP, you read that correct.....HOT and SEXY as hell!!!!!! I felt like I truly knew this entire group... The storyline was written so well and so believable that I felt like I had known this family/group of characters for years.

Let me touch on Avery, the h of the story.... oh my, girl crush going on right here, yep she was awesome!!!!! She had a little girl Brooklyn who was by far one the sweetest and most adorable little kids that I have ever read about, I LOVED that little "Bean"...... Now onto the H of the story, what can I say but oh yes, I am in total utter love/lust with Maddox.... I mean this guy, this hunkalicious, swoon-worthy, sex on a stick was just AMAZING and hot, sweet, feisty and oh my, yep, totally fanning myself right now, he was THAT awesome.... He was in one word.......PERFECT!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Lacey Black, I am a fan and I am hooked on this series..... I cannot wait to read more:) Home Run for me!!!!!!!!

A straight up sweet, endearing romance novel. My first book by author Lacey Black. If this how she writes I am hooked.

Avery Stevens is a sweet, beautiful single mother to her wonderful 3 yr old daughter, Brooklyn. She has been betrayed by her HS boyfriend and Brooklyn, known as Bean, Drake. He ran like the wind during a hurricane when he learned she was pregnant. She is set to work, raise her daughter, hang with her BFF Holly when she can and spend time with her parents and 4 older over protective brothers at Sunday dinners. That is until she learns the the childhood crush she has held on her eldest brother's best friend may not be one way, it may be reciprocated.

Maddox Jackson is a cop, Jake's best friend, a man-whore, and a lot older than Avery but he has been seeing her in a new light lately and spending time with her in Brooklyn begins to make him think his past ways are all wrong. So in secret, the two start to date but we all know secrets are usually revealed and when certain people find out, not only is friendship in trouble but so is the romance. Soon though a serious life event will push the 'betrayal' aside and show everyone the true colors of all involved.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved all the characters. Avery is a strong woman who i thoroughly enjoys. Maddox is a hero/alpha that you cant help but love. Then brother are great so are Holly and the parents. I cant wait to see what book #2 holds.

4.5 stars!

This is my second time reading Trust Me and I'm happy to say i loved it just as much the second time around as i did the first.

Avery is a young single mother, in three years she's been through two horrible relationships that has her completely losing faith and trust in men. Maddox is a reformed tomcat who has his eyes set on Avery, at first its a simple attraction that draws him to her, but then his feelings start to take a turn and he not only is completely attracted to her he is also falling in love with her and her three year old daughter Brooklyn. The only issue Maddox is Jake's best friend and Jake just happens to be Avery's older brother who is very overprotective of his little sister.

With Trust Me you not only get the sauciness of a forbidden/secret romance, you also get the sweetness that comes with witnessing a man fall completely in love with a woman and her daughter. It was precious seeing Maddox connect with Avery's three year old daughter Brooklyn on a father/daughter level.

I loved the fact that Avery has 4 older brothers that are overprotective of her, making it hard for Avery to hide the fact that she is with Maddox. I sensed trouble brewing from the start of this novel, it built until BAM it completely blew up into a clusterf*ck!

I LOVED IT!

Whoa! Where in the world did Lacey Black come from? All I can say is don't judge this book by it's cover. If you do, you are missing out on an amazing book. This little jewel kinda blew me away. I can honestly say, I wasn't expecting much out of this book. Picked it up on a whim. I found it super cheap on Amazon, and bought it, and then almost immediately picked it up. I started it at 11 PM last night, and read til 1 AM, and then picked it back up as soon as I woke up this morning and was done before 10 AM. I devoured this book.

I highly suggest you pick this one up, and give it a go. It was almost the perfect book. No, the writing wasn't 100% perfect, but it was still really good. I'm super impressed with this writer.

Before I even finished this book, I went and bought the rest of the books that are out in this series. It was that good!

GO. Get it. Read it. Thank me later!

I received a complimenty copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.
Trust Me is book 1 in the Rivers Edge Series and it's a fabulous read. Avery hasn't had much luck with relationships over the last few year's she has a 3 year old daughter Brooklyn, who's father cheated on her and left her when she was pregnant but Avery loves her little girl more than anything. For many years Avery has secretly crushed on her eldest brothers best friend Maddox. Maddox feels the same about Avery but they are both worried about the repercussions a relationship between them will cause. This is a lovely story of finding your one true love the, person you can spend your whole life with. Brooklyn is such a sweet little girl too and some of the scenes with her and Maddox are just heart melting.

This book is definitely a five star read and I can't wait to read Jake's story next.

This is my second book by this author. I came across her by accident and really loved what I read. I decided to check out more books by her. So happy I did.
I think I feel in love with both characters by the second chapter.
Both, Avery and Maddox are really realistic and charming in their own way but together it is just almost too much.
I always enjoy romance novels that involve a single parent if it is done right and that it is in this case. The kid was really great written into the story and it just fit so prefect. There were some moments I really loved and I had tears in my eyes. The end for all three of them was just perfect and I loved the way Maddox include Bean in everything.

She falls in love at 17 but her boyfriend is sleeping around, she get pregnant and he dumps her as he doesn't want a baby at 20.

Forward 3 years and she is getting on with life and her daughter is now 3. Her ex is not in her life but her brothers best friend is.

Feelings that have been there between both for a 'long' time come to a head and eventually they act upon them but have to keep it from her brother.

Her brother find out his best friend is in a relationship with his sister and of course, he's unhappy.

pretty much a standard plot with a HEA.

Man falls for best friends little sister: always an intriguing concept but it's hard to find a truly original story. Although this was no different, I did enjoy it. Maybe because I have a soft spot for stories that feature an alpha male HERO, such as a cop in this case. I also enjoyed the banter between the different characters. Plus there are like 20 brothers in this family which I can only assume they'll get their own books, so there's that to look forward to.

I loved it

This book was amazing. You just know Maddox and Avery have these strong feelings for each other, but with Avery being the baby and her controlling older brothers make it difficult. The story of Maddox and Avery and little Brooklyn is such a good one. Read it! You won't regret it!

A sweet romance of unrequited love. Avery has had a thing for Maddox, her brother's best friend, since she was a youngster. I loved seeing the player fall, and also that there wasn't any unnecessary drama for drama's sake.

A great début that I thoroughly enjoyed
