On the verge of war, Chase Hale has no time to think about anything other than preparing his clan to battle the savage Long Claws, who are intent on annihilating Bear Valley. But when a supposed mate of the enemy shows up, he can’t help but be intrigued by the unsettling mysteries that swirl around the beautiful bear shifter.
Anya Bure is the first mate of the ruthless alpha of the Long Claw Clan…or at least, that's what she's been told. But when he sends her to gather information on the enemy clan of Bear Valley, she learns a hard lesson in just how deeply she’s been manipulated. When she meets Chase, Anya knows he suspects her motives. The more time she spends with him though, the more she thinks Chase might be what her heart has been searching for, and spying on Bear Valley is tearing her in two.
Stuck in the middle of escalating tension between the two clans, Anya is beginning to discover herself under Chase’s patient encouragement, but she can’t walk the line forever. Eventually, she’s going to have to decide which clan to betray, and whether to fight for love or duty.

She werebear swears there'll be no swooning heroines in her books. It takes tough-as-nails women to handle the shifters of Bear Valley.

I love this writers ability to create so many unique characters. As with the others in this series (and her other series) this made for a fast and entertaining bear shifter romance. I love that her books are offered on kindleunlimited too. I'll definitely be continuing this series.
I got it 4 stars this time.... and it was mostly due to the fact of Anya. I like her I really do, but she doubted herself so much! The self doubt finally made sense when I could put she was a submissive. Even then I was just like damn girl! She is a bear and in my mind even as a submissive she can still kick some ass! I get it she was raised to believe that she was just supposed to have children for the alpha and raise them. But I really just wanted to scream at her that she was stronger than she knew!
Chase was cool I liked him. One minute he was a tough as nails instructor helping his fighters become strong, and next he was a super big sweetheart. He cares for people deeply, and only wants the best for those he cares about. I’m so glad he didn’t take it easy on Anya with the training, and that he helped her see that she can be strong too.
All in all it was good story, and yes I was sucked into the moment I started it. I’m really glad Anya can see herself in a better light, and that she isn’t being used and abused by a douche bag anymore! On to the next!
This one was just ok for me. I had a hard time buying into Anya abrupt turn around, just from being around the Bear Valley people. Sure they were normal and nice, but it was just days and she was denouncing everything. Much the same for Chase. He hated Anya on sight, thought her a spy, but it didn't take too long before he was romancing her.
Anya Bure is mate No. 1 to the Alpha of the Long Claw Clan. She has loved him for quite some time, but he has constantly added several other mates to himself. He threatens her with death if she does not infiltrate herself into the Bear Valley Clan and report back to him. She now realizes he has never loved her, nor will he. Her bear has been suppressed. She is a submissive. Her alpha has told the entire clan how evil the Bear Valley Clan is. She is petrified of them, but she has no choice in the matter. With the pretense of seeking asylum there and her friend Joanna, now living there, she arrives. But is seeking asylum really a pretense or is it reality? She meets there a shifter who infuriates her and her inner bear wants to come out. She is completely and utterly confused.
Chase Hale is the Fighting Trainer for his Alpha, Benson Riker of the Bear Valley Shifters. He is suspicious of the petite mate of the Alpha of their rival enemy. In his eyes she is a spy for the Long Claw Clan. The woman, Joanna, Jennie and his Alpha's mate, Hannah...sympathies with the little spy and promise to keep an eye on her during the day. His alpha, Benson Riker puts her on probation to prove herself. Chase is furious because he has been given an order to have her as his house guest and charge. Oh, oh damn!!!!!!
This 4th story did not disappoint either.
As I said in my previous reviews of this series...after reading book 1, I went ahead and bought all of the other books in this series. I have proceeded to read them back to back.
See Benson Riker and Hannah's story continues throughout.
I have loved the Bear Valley Series so far. Not only are these an erotica type books ... they are very well rounded with intrigue, suspense, romance, steamy love scenes and humor. I just wish they would have been in one long book instead of 5 short ones. The price point of $2.99 though is too high for such a short e-book. That is the only disappointment I have had with this series.
Anya Bure, one of the Long Claws Alpha, Nathan's mates. We met her in the previous book, when she and Jo (RETURN TO THE BEAR) had several discussions regarding Nathan and his ways. She was sent by her Apha to spy on the Bear Valley Clan but the more time she spent with them especially Chase, she realized that she'd been lied to.
Chase Hale, was preparing his clan for the war that was heafing there way with the Long Claws, he didn't have time for distractions. When a beautiful stranger who turned out to be one of Nathan's mates, he didn't trust her completely. And she knew it.
His Alpha put Anya on probationary trial and he was to give her shelter since he was the only unmated man in their clan. That didn't sit well with him but he stil did what Riker asked of him. As they spent moretie together, they gound out some interesting things about each other and much more.
Anya loved the life she was living with the Bear Valley Clan, her feeling for Chase changed and vice versa. Her bond with the Jo, Hannah, Jenny and Corin grew stronger. She had friends that lifted her up instead of tearing her down ad the man she loved, loved her back.
BETRAY THE BEAR is the fourth book in T. S. Joyce's BEAR VALLEY SHIFTERS series. What another magnificent, fascinating and heartwarming ride. An extraordinary job by T. S. Joyce! 5🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is the fourth book in the series and they need to be read in order. Chase is preparing his clan for war. He doesn’t want to go to war but the long claws need to be stopped. His job is to train the bears to fight. Anya is sent to Bear Valley to gather information for her alpha. Only when she gets there, she realizes that she has been lied to so much. These bears to have multiple mates just one. They are vicious and kill for no reason. They are one giant community. The more time she spends with Chase the more she realizes she is meant to be his. Chase suspects her from the beginning but just watches her. Soon he learns everything she has been through and they come up with a plan. The girls welcome Anya. They know she has been through so much but Chase is wary at first. Anya will have some difficult choices to make. This series just keeps getting better and better. This war is building, will they have to fight or will they be able to find a way for peace? I can’t wait to read the next one. I already have it ready and waiting.
I have said it before and I say it again, this series gets better and better with each book written. As with the books before this one I was pulled into the story from the beginning and that is where I stayed until I had read the last word written, and once again I had my mini movie playing out in my head. Surprises throughout the book, some are large, some are small, some you will see coming and others you won't, but you will enjoy each and everyone of them. They help to make the book the fantastic read that it is. Each and every emotion that the characters went through I went through with them and I wouldn't have it any other way, brilliant. If you are a shifter fan you should really try this author, I think you will enjoy them for a change.
Wao! Intense, intrigue, action and romance from the very beginning. I was so surprised Anya got her own story. She was so in love with her mate the evil alpha of the long claw but I so love that she got the chance to know how a real clan works and how much she deserved much better. Can't believe the next book is the last of this series and Cameron didn't get his own story. Highly recommended
The Polar Bear Alpha losing his marbles continued to sink to new lows and abuse his “mates” and power in his Clan. Wanted to know more about Chase. Felt like we only scratched the surface. Now his Andean Bear Mate we found more about. Loved how she went from timid, and controlled follower of her mate to quietly courageous. Loved the climatic scene with her “mate”. Did want to know if the one of the females was pregnant in the epilogue.
I loved Chase from the brief glimpse of him in Return to the Bear so I was a little surprised at his antagonism toward Anya when she first arrived in Bear Valley, but once the story progressed and the characters unravelled a bit he proved how amazing he was. Loved this book and love these stories. Another great read.
This is the story of a girl who learns to be more than a pawn. And by the end of said story, the girl is a woman who has learned to be strong and self sufficient. I highly recommend this novel to those who like to cheer for the underdog and watch a woman rise above her past. Because as you know, our past doesn't define us.
Holy Hell...it was so good to see Anya again especially after the horrible things you had started to learn about Nathan's treatment. I was also so glad to see Chase as you my him briefly in the last book and I was curious about him. While his side wasn't quite as intense as Brody's, Anya's certainly was. So it was a joy for them to be together and heal each other's wounds.
With his position as alpha shaky and unable to get Jo back from Bear Valley, Nathan threatens his first mate Anya with death if she doesn’t go to spy on them. Raised in the brutal Long Claw clan, Anya’s a fish out of water as her eyes are opened to a different kind of life but she’s afraid to trust and tell the truth to Chase, the male assigned to watch over her. Rating: 4stars
Nice follow up in the series. We pick up where the king claw alpha is unraveling to the point he will use anyone to get his spoils of war, Jo. The pawn he uses learns she is more than just a mate. She can be strong and be a member of a clan that appreciates her. Enjoy her journey to discover freedom and love.
Good read about a female shifter standing up for herself, I still feel that the ends of these books are rushed and not appreciative. I do wish the authors would read back over their work as yet again there are stupid unnecessary mistakes.
Anya Bure an Adrean Bear Shifter had come to Bear Valley Clan. Chase Hale a Grizzly Bear Shifter and best friend of Benson Riker, the Alpha of the Bear Valley Shifter. Anya and Chase are fated mates.
Oh my! This book kept me on my toes. I loved it. Chase is sweet and sexy but not very trusting with women. Anya was sent to gather secrets about Riker and his clan. But she fell in love with the clan and with Chase. I loved this book!
Betray the bear book 4 of series Bear valley shifters is another great mysteries of a read. It’s interesting on how similar bear shifters are to humans with their respective thoughts to rules and how they accept others
Ahh. Another page turning intense book!! I absolutely love that Anya got out from under that ass-hats control. Also that her and Jo were able to reunite.
Amy's has no idea of how badly she has been torn down and conditioned to accept being treated as property until she meets Chase. Tensions build in this storyline.
God, I really really hate Nathan! I didn’t like Anya in the last book so when I saw this was her book I was less than thrilled but she grew on my by the end.
