Rate this book
Love is a valuable weapon... Resort and casino co-founder David Carrone has worked hard for what he has. As the illegitimate son to a notorious crime boss, he makes it a point to distance himself from that corrupt life. But when his past comes back in the form of smooth curves and raw passion, David is immediately brought low, putting all he's worked hard for at risk. Athena Lewis is a mistress at deception. She's savvy with a computer, has a sharp mind, and even sharper attitude. Except when it comes to "Davie," the only man who's ever made her feel safe. But to protect the only family she has, Athena must take on a job that goes against everything she believes in--even if that includes using the last trick she has left. Her body. With David's trust betrayed and Athena's "mission" exposed, they both set out to right some wrongs while playing a game that will only end with them losing their hearts.

Okay Lena Hart has done it to me again. Absolutely loved Athena and David’s story.

Again the story has mystery, intrigue, deceit, betrayal and forgiveness. Athena’s brother Anthony is the one who puts Athena on a path to deceive the man that she loves because she loves her brother and wants to keep him safe.

I loved the chemistry between David and Athena and when he challenges the lies she trying to spin, she is honest with the man she has loved since she was a girl. I love the fun loving nature of their relationship too.

David - “Sweetheart, I don’t think you can handle what I’m packing”
Athena – Wanna try me? She whispered”

I have not read a word this author has written that I do not love! Her books grab me from page 1 just how I like it!

This is series is the BOMB!

This is the second book of the series and I enjoyed this story better than the first. This second book overlaps the lives of the characters in the first story. It tells the life of the business partner Casino Royale and the woman girl he left behind whim he thought if as a little sister. David Carrone left Tena behind to better himself and never looked back even though he said he would. Tena's brother got into some trouble and used Tena and her talents to extract information from her friend/childhood crush.

David and Tena's story is a estranged friendship that turned to something more after there was a heist that went wrong. Someone wants Davey ruined, but no one knows why.

I enjoyed the the chemistry between Tena and Davey as they both didn't want to hurt one another, but they still had a lot to learn of the other and try to learn to trust one another again. There weren't any contrived arguments or misunderstands that made me do a face palm, so that's always a plus in my book especially in the interracial arena, so for that, I am happy. There were a few editing issues, but not so many that it distraction. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading the third book in this series.

His Bedpost Queen is the second installment of the Queen Quartette series by Lena Hart. You can read my review of His Flower Queen here.

Like the first book, His Bedpost Queen is set in Vegas and features the Royal Courts casino. It stars Gabe’s business partner, David. The heroine is Athena (Tena) Lewis, whose blind loyalty to her brother, Anthony, puts her in a very uncomfortable situation as she has to betray someone she cares about. If you guessed David then you are correct. These two have history. They ran together in the same crew, stealing, many years ago. David got out and was able to make a name for himself. Though he has never forgotten his past, he has worked very hard to overcome his beginnings and distance himself from the Carrone name; an alleged crime family.

This was a romantic suspense coupled with a reunion 14 years in the making. Tena’s brother got into a bit of trouble with some people from their past. As he always does, he went to his sister to bail him out. Her task? To retrieve something of value from David. These old friends turned briefly to adversaries before becoming what they were always destined to be; lovers.

David was definitely more likable to me than Gabe. He was lovable, protective but with just the right amount of edge. Athena and David’s past was a murky one and I loved the initial flashback and the memories we were treated to. By doing this, readers got more backstory and was able to sympathize with both of them at certain points in the book. We understood more of why these main characters went their separate ways.

I wasn’t fond of the vagueness regarding the job Tena had to complete. What were they really after? Yes, she had to retrieve David’s hard drive but we weren’t told WHAT was on the hard drive. Tena was also way too gullible when it came to her brother. I understand that they were family but she went into all of this just a bit too quickly for my taste.

There is an ongoing storyline that started with His Flower Queen but you don’t have to read that in order to enjoy His Bedpost Queen. Another piece of this puzzle slid into place regarding the larger plot that will carry on throughout the next two books. The romance was definitely at the forefront of this book but Hart did a good job of luring you into the mystery. I look forward to reading the remainder of the books to find out just who is trying to sabotage David and Gabe’s hard work.

I love a friends-turned-lovers story so this was enjoyable for me. Tena had feelings for David since she was a kid so it was nice to see that love returned, even though it took many years.

Another quick read, His Bedpost Queen was a delightful addition to the Queen Quartette series.

“His Bedpost Queen” by Lena Hart is part of the ‘Queen Quartette’ series and is included in the boxed set, ‘Shades of Desire’. This particular story centers around a computer security expert, Athena Lewis, whose love for her scapegrace brother has put her in the uncomfortable position of betraying someone she once cared deeply for. David Carrone has never forgotten his roots, but he has worked hard to overcome his less than savory beginnings to become the successful casino resort owner he is, and he never expects to be betrayed by the one person he regrets having left in his past. Their intense attraction leads to questionable choices, but they have to decide whether they can get past the hurt they have caused one another and survive the challenges that their respective pasts keep stirring up.

This sensual romantic suspense story combines a reunion romance with a friends to opponents to lovers theme, peppered with an intriguing mystery. The memories of the gritty past that shaped these two main characters gives a glimpse of a harsh world that has prompted the different members of their clique to follow very opposite paths. There is an ongoing thread that is not resolved in this particular story and the framework is laid for interest in yet another sexy male’s story but there is an enjoyable unfolding of the sizzling relationship that develops between the two strong-willed characters spotlighted in this story. I have not read the rest of the series but there is enough backstory to give an understanding of the current events even as one is drawn into the overall mystery and seduced into wanting to read the rest of the series. I look forward to unraveling the mystery and getting to know more about some of the enigmatic characters and finding out whether there are extenuating circumstances or if the front being presented to the world is truly reflective of the heart of the persons who are in danger of undermining the accomplishments of those who have escaped their troubled beginnings.

Everyone has heard the saying, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," so it should come as no surprise that Las Vegas serves as the backdrop for story filled with cons, organized crime, opulent casinos, scandal, and lots of hot sex.

This book kept me intrigued. The relationship development between David and Athena is unconventional. She waltzes into his life after fourteen years with a job to do and the skill set to get it done but she can't shut down her emotions. David doesn't even recognize the woman before him as the kid he used to know until it is too late. Then things get more complicated as they discover she isn't the only one after information that could ruin him.

I liked the characters. I liked Athena's strength and her loyalty to those she loves. And I loved David's protective nature and his atypical reaction when he discovered who Athena was. I loved the pace of the book and the way the author kept throwing more information to challenge my perceptions. There is a great deal of sexual content but it fits the story well and it doesn't effect the flow of the story. The romantic elements of the story are settled in the end but the mystery surrounding the rest is left open.

I look forward to reading the other books in the series and finding out where the rest of the story goes.

"His Bedpost Queen" by Lena Hart is second book of this Intriguing series. We get to see David and Tena’s love blossom into something incredible that had been brewing since their childhood. Character Chemistry is on point as it always is in a Lena Hart masterpiece. Doesn’t True Love will always conqueror all? I do not do spoilers, so I will just say that this is a story that is a must read! Don't sleep on it. I read the last book in this series first, and then this one, so I'm about to dive into the other two stories with abandon. Lena Hart is a very talented writer whose work I've been fond of since reading her first release. I can't wait to read more amazing masterpieces from her in 2015.

A Thirst Quenching Suspense Story

A great compelling tale with diverse, authentic characters. Protagonists, Athena Lewis, a computer whiz, and David Carrone, co-founder of a resort casino in Vegas, keep the story flowing with an exciting cat and mouse diversion. Packed with sensuality, cyber hacking, deception, manipulation, secrets and lies, and exposés, the plot leads up to a sweltering climax, leaving you wanting more and questioning, “How far would you go to save a sibling from harm?”

Love it!

You mean I would have to wait to see if Judith took the flash drive. Ugh, that is not fair. I wonder how long this will take. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book.

This is the second book in the Quartette series and this book focuses on David and Athena and their story. I enjoy continuing stories filled with characters that will eventually get their own stories. The reader gets immersed within the world the characters live in and I feel get to know them and they feel like friends. I feel truly honored that I got to read and review all of these books. I love discovering new authors whether they are indie authors or authors who are represented by a publishing house. It doesn't matter to me. Talent is talent and I like well written quality story telling, and I got that with this series.

I love that this series takes place in a casino. I haven't read many stories where the story takes place in a casino and I love that it's something new, something fresh, something that hasn't been done a zillion times before.

David is a ladies man, he wines and dines them and when he's done with them he moves on to the next woman. He's not cruel or a jerk to them. He just hasn't found "the one" to keep him interested. He also is desperate to make a name for himself that has noting to do with his father and what the family name represents to other people in the business world. He wants to be associated with being respected because he runs a quality casino that caters to wealthy customers that want to have a good time. He wants to be as disassociated as possible with crime and hustling and things that his father was known for.

Athena, used to steal, con and lead a criminal life. She left that behind to make a good honest living for herself. She wanted to be proud of what she could accomplish with her life and she wanted to look at herself in the mirror and be able to be proud of where her life was going. She's young chronologically as well as emotionally for one who had to grow up so fast, but that vulnerability works for her. It makes her human, it makes this reader like her more. I hope the reader likes her too.

David and Tena's romance heats up fast and intimacy grows quickly as well, but for me it's believable. A little hint of attraction can burst into an inferno of desire and I love it.

Please, give the Quartette series a shot. Begin with book one and find out how the story begins, and where the story is heading. I think readers will like it. Lena's females are so sweet and sensual, the reader and their men can't help but love them.

I purchased a copy of His Bedpost Queen in the 2 book bundle His Flower Queen by Lena hart May 18, 2017 and this review was given freely.
The His Queen nevada based series continues with Gabe's best friend and business partner David whose connection to crime comes back to haunt him in the form of his childhood crew the Acerra Brothers and Athena. This second chance at love steamy romance covers the same time frame in His Flower Queen with interconnecting scenes related from "David's" view and covers such topics as family loyalty, unrequited love, betrayal, and addiction. This novel contains mild bondage and some violence making this a recommended over 18 novel.
