3.5 stars. I enjoyed the story line very much. This was a good book in that sense and I did get to know the characters pretty well. There was also a little twist I did not see coming.
This story is about redemption and a bad boy. I mean who wouldn't love that.
Zack went to prison for a year for a crime he should have never committed. He let a woman talk him into to something and then let him take the fall. Now a year later he is out and he is NEVER going back. He was about to be a pro MMA fighter before he got locked up. But one night walking down a dark alley he stumbles upon something horrid and this one decision he is about to make will change things forever...
Mia is happy, she has a good job and good friends. The only thing not looking so great is her love life. Until one night while having too many drinks and walking down a dark alley changes everything.
This story is so sexy. I mean Zack is exactly what every girl wants. Big bad tattoo (thought the tattoos aren't mentioned much but I caught the one or two times it was spilled and I can visualize :)) MMA fighter who is quiet and just big hearted. There love connection was fast but I was all for it. I think I just felt something missing in descriptions and development. The dialogue between Jenna and Mia literally had me rolling my eyes and it was very repetitive. But all in all a good quick read. I have read these authors before and this will not stop me from reading more.

Hooked is a rare example of a book where I liked the male lead (Zack) more than the female lead (Mia), but that didn't dampen my enjoyment of the book. While I did find myself questioning the decision making process of both characters multiple times during the course of the book (the reason behind him going to jail, their failure to get to know each other better by sharing DETAILS of their pasts, and their general lack of communication when problems inevitably came up), I do realize that these very decisions were important plot points that propelled the story forward and it was a very entertaining ride, so I can't be mad at it. In fact, I listened to the story twice and enjoyed it even more the second time! Hooked is a unique story with very popular elements from the romance genre and is a great listen/read for fans of sports/mma romances.

The saying of bad boy turned good really applies.
Zack was in love and told she was pregnant but that she didn't want the baby. He was going to get the money so that he could show her they would make it together with the baby, then the worst thing happens. He gets caught. He took the full responsibility and that way she would be pregnant and in jail. But the girl he loved didn't feel the same. She completely allowed him to take the blame and the next day was in the arms of other guys. Now one year later he is getting out, but not without damage to him in a lot more ways. He was a rising MMA fighter with a promising bright future. Well known among the MMA fighting world. Now he is out, his father is ill, the friends he thought he had are not there except for one, and the girl he thought he loved is nowhere around and doesn't want him at all. Where does he begin again? How does this get turned around for the better?
Mia is a girl a little down on her luck, and has had to start working at her dad's gym to pay the bills. It isn't a bad situation just not her ideal situation. She decides to let her hair down a little (as the saying goes) and meet up with her friends for some drinks. The only thing is all her friends have boyfriends and she does not. Needless to say the girls that came out end up leaving early to spend time with their boyfriends, Mia wants to stay and dance and let loose just a little. She is approached by a guy she has talked to from the gym, someone she worked with so she feels a little less inhibited and drinks a little more than she thought, now the guy offered to take her home so she wouldn't need to catch a cab, and he has brought a friend with him, but why is she feeling so much more wasted now? They start to take her "through" an alley to get to the car, and out of nowhere they both try to get something that doesn't belong to them - her. She is trying to fight them but it isn't working. She is trying to call out or scream and they are having none of that either? How is this going to stop? Can she get away from them without what they are trying to take from her being taken?
Zack walking home (from the appointed job he was given upon his release from jail) to the appointed place he was given upon his release from jail when he hears a muffled cry from a female and it sounds off and definitely like what she is crying from is not wanted. He is there in the alley in a flash and helps this girl and fixes the situation. Mia is stunned, shy, hurt (a little physically much more emotionally) and embarrassed. She falls into Zack and he tries to do his best to help her. He gets a cab and makes sure she gets home safe, but he is a strict gentleman and that is all that happens. He makes sure she is in her apartment safe and sound then goes home. Mia is not on the mission of finding this hero of hers to thank him for all he has done for her. She becomes obsessed with this hero. She finds him coincidentally and she helps him out by having him start working out/training in her dad's gym.
There is one thing they both have in common, and it has to do with the girl that broke his heart and sent him to jail and Mia's dad....and this common thread is a BIG one. One that throws a monkey wrench in all the awesome chemistry these two have been sharing. Can they bring themselves (everyone including Mia's dad) back together and have a happy ending? Does this secret completely tear them apart with no looking back? You will need to read this book, it was a bit of a roller coaster ride during some of this book, but nothing so dramatic you will not wish to keep going. This is a fantastic book....you will not be sorry once you get it and read it.

Zack has made a mistake that landed in prison for a year. Mia graduated college and is a manager of her father's gym. One unfortunate mistake on Mia's part, puts them together. Zack saves Mia and Mia wants to help Zack get his life back on track. But while helping Zack, Mia feelings grow. Zack is not looking for a distraction while trying to decided whether he should pick up where he left off or leave MMA fighting behind. They seem to be perfect together until the unexpected happens and Zack thinks history is repeating itself. Mia just wants Zack and a life with him even if it is against what her family wants.
Hooked was a good read, however the story fell short for me. The plot seemed rushed just as a pivotal point in the story appears. I would have love for Natasha to expand on the conflict more. To me it was talked about but pushed up under the rug and all is forgiven. Beside this hiccup, I enjoyed the story of Mia and Zack. This is a stand alone book with no cliffhanger.

Really enjoyed this book. I was looking forward to this book and was not disappointed at all. It pulls you in from the start and never lets go. Being a shorter story it moves at a pretty fast pace but is well written and flows smoothly. It doesn't have that "choppy" feel many short stories have. It's not often a short story can give you a twist you don't see coming until it happens, this one does.
A bit of suspense and steamy romance with a little angst and drama all combined in a very entertaining and enjoyable story with no cliffhanger and a HEA.
The instant connection and attraction works here. You don't feel like their relationship is rushed. Zack and Mia are both immediately likable and you can't help but root for them to get their well deserved HEA.
Logan McAllister does a good job with the narration. Great voice. Perfect for a bad boy alpha type. Deep, gravelly, smoldering and rough around the edges. There is only slight difference between male and female voices in this story which can be confusing at times. With a voice that deep though I'm glad he doesn't try to do a high pitched female voice. I would love to hear him do more dual narration stories.

MMA romance is quickly becoming a sub genre that I really enjoy. This book is a quick listen and has well developed characters. At times I wished it was a little more in depth, but I think Natasha Tanner and JB Duvane did a great job entertaining me. Zack is an MMA fighter just getting out of jail when he comes upon Mia who is being attacked by two men. The couple do not get together immediately, but you know this is not the end of their chance meeting. The story is about redemption for Zack. He works hard to overcome his felony and Mia can see the good in him. There are several twists and turns in this story which keep you wanting to know the outcome of their relationship. I was surprised by several of them, which with a book as short as this is an unusual trait, but very welcome. Kept me on my toes!
Logan McAllister delivered an engaging performance. He does really will with this genre, giving the masculine voice an alpha feel.

For a shortish book this story has great character development and there is real depth to the characters which is shown throughout the book.
Zach ticks all the boxes to be a bad boy, sexy MMA fighter with a heart? Yes please! His experiences have left him with emotional scars that create issues in his relationship with Mia and create some interesting scenes.
Mia is a very understanding person who is able to judge people for who they are now rather than who they were or what they've done in the past. This puts her views in conflict with the views of people she cares about.
Just when I thought I knew where this was all going a twist happened that I was not prepared for.
Exciting from beginning to end I loved the story and the characters.
The narration is lovely and smooth with excellent character voices, good phrasing and a nice pace.

MMA Romance..
Zack was a well known MMA fighter who was sentenced to a year in prison for his current girl friend.
He does his time, gets out, and meets Mia one night when she needs help.
Overall, this was a decent a Bad Boy MMA Romance with a Happy Ending.
Logan McAllister did well with the narration.

This story between Zack and Mia is so sweet. Their story is how all the sweet ones should begin with the amazing hunk saving the innocent damsel and then becoming better together. Yes. As in all good romances there were some problems and things go wrong, but I love how it all worked out. And Logan had an amazing voice and his husky rasp made the story so much more enjoyable.

Another audio for me. I have listened to Logan McAllister before and he does not disappoint. He's an excellent alpha male and he makes for a decent female too.
This was a quick listen for me, but that doesn't mean the story is lacking in any way.
In fact, I thought it was very well developed for a book that only lasted a little over 3 hours.
Wanna know what happens? Read it. It isn't a long book!

Bad Boy MMA Romances happen to be a favorite of mine and this one was no different. Our H is Zack and our h is Mia.
When this book starts we are introduced to Zack... as he is getting beat on, in prison, again. Zack was a well known MMA fighter until his girlfriend at the time set him up. He took the blame and was sentenced to a year in prison. Once the new guys come in and hear who he is, they want to fight him to prove themselves. Zack never fights back. He takes every hit, kick and all around beating without ever attacking back. He is determined to get out as soon as his year is up and he has no desire to extend his time there.
When Zack gets picked up by a friend and ask about his then girlfriend, his buddy has to inform him that she was out the day after he was arrested. He pushes Zack to forget about her and get his life back together. Zack is determined to do just that. When leaving the bar to make his curfew one night, he hears a sound coming from down an alley.
Mia is home from four years away at college. All her friends have boyfriends and are settling down except for her. She was burned by her ex that had basically slept with everyone in the dorm when they were in college. While at the bar one night, her friend is ready to go home with her boyfriend but Mia decides to stay. A man comes up to her that has recently joined one of her father's gyms and brings a friend. Mia continues to drink and then declares she wants to go dancing. The guys proceed to lead her down an alley saying that's where the car is. While Mia is questioning her decision, she is too drunk to get away from them. Soon the 2 men are holding her down to rape her... until suddenly they aren't.
Zack pulls the men off of Mia and safely gets her home while expressing that he has recently gotten out of jail and can't be around if she calls the cops. Mia feels like she owes Zack a better thank you and soon runs into him out one day. While out to eat she offers him the use of her dad's gym to get ready to fight again. Zack offers her self defense lessons in return.
Between self defense lessons, watching Zack excel and Mia's hero worship, things become serious for the two people who weren't looking for someone special. There are things that neither one told the other and they soon lead to problems that may not be repairable.
Zack and Mia each had issues. They didn't talk to each other when they should have and it could have solved problems before they blew up. Things worked out in the end and I believe they were stronger because of it.

Lots of twists and turns in this book by Natasha Tanner and JB Duvane! This books is about Zack and Mia. Zack is a former MMA fighter that just got out of prison. While his stay was short, his time away cost him plenty--his girlfriend and his career. He did what he did to protect his ex-girlfriend, only to find out it was all lies. Now he wants nothing to do with women and is focusing on getting back in the cage. Unfortunately for him, he runs in to Mia. This is fortunate for Mia since he saves her from two guys in a back alley that won't leave her alone.
Their connection is instant and seems fated. Her dad owns a gym and she offers it up to him so he can train for a career comeback. In exchange, he teaches her about self defense. While they try to keep their relationship friendly, chemistry like theirs won't be denied. Theirs is a fire that burns hot and intense, but it might be too much for them to handle. When it comes to light that their is a history between them that neither is aware of, will it be enough to separate them forever?
This was my first time reading from these authors, and I loved this story! Zack is not what I would consider your typical bad boy. Sure he's a tattooed MMA fighter, but he loves hard and is loyal to a fault--which is what lands him in prison. Mia wants to believe the best about people, and she's drawn to Zack likes she's never been drawn to any other man. Their sex scenes are very hot and steamy and will make you wish you could roll around on the mats with your lover when the gym is closed! When the drama kicks into high gear, it will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to find out what is going to happen next. Great read!!

Mia wants to believe the best about people, and she's drawn to Zack likes she's never been drawn to any other man. Their sex scenes are very hot and steamy and will make you wish you could roll around on the mats with your lover when the gym is closed! When the drama kicks into high gear, it will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to find out what is going to happen next. Great read!!

Zack is finally getting out of prison, a year for something he really didn't want to do, a huge mistake that has possibly ruined his life. Zack is feeling lost, unable to work out a direction for his life, until he sees something in a dark alley, something that doesn't look quiet right.
Mia has dated the worst men ever, and now she's single, all her girlfriends have boyfriends and don't want to hang out with her. After been left alone at a bar, a guy she knows from work approaches her with his friend, and soon what started out as drinks ends up looking for somewhere to dance, well that's what Mia thinks, until she's facing her worst nightmare.
When Zack saves Mia, both there lives will change forever, including facing the past.
A great short story that has you hooked from the start, great characters, great storyline, and some awesome morals about accepting people for themselves now, not there past mistakes. Totally loved it.

Jess has been getting lectured about moping around the hospital she works on, but after the death of her husband, she just can't seem to move forward, despite how many people her friends keep setting her up with. Zack is just released from prison after being locked up for a year for breaking and entering. He did that to make his girlfriend happy and never wanted to do it, so he regrets doing it. He was the next big fighter and now he hopes to ever fight again. One night, he saves Mia. Mia trusted the wrong men, but she does feel safe around Zack. Mia can convince Zack to train at her dad’s gym. Zack is over the moon and falls for Mia. Mia falls for Zack and wants to be with him forever.
Zack is an amazing guy who would do anything for the person he loves and for his family. He’s an amazing fighter, both in and out the ring. Mia is a sweet and caring woman. She loves sport and believes in Zack. She believes that he’s a good guy.
I didn’t hate the book, but I didn’t love it either. I wished for more development in their relationship. I didn’t mind it that they were immediately attracted to each other. Zack saves Mia and she falls for her hero. She thinks Zack is gorgeous. She needs him to feel safe. The conversation flows easily when they talk and they can talk about anything. Zack even trusts Mia and he never expected to ever trust a woman again. They were together and then there is a time jump of about a month and I feel I missed the development of their feelings and all the sex scenes. Mia tells the most to her best friend, but I wanted to read it from Zack or Mia’s point of view. I also wished for more closure about Lexi.

After having a few drinks with someone she thinks she knows and can trust she finds herself being dragged down a dark ally with no one to help her. Just when she thinks the worst is about to happen Zack appears and saves her from her attacker.
A few weeks after that chance encounter they run in one another and the sparks fly, lust quickly turns to love, when Mia starts to help Zack get back into MMA.
Can they over come the obstacles that come with Zack’s sorted past?
Will their love be enough to hold them together and reach their goals?
I felt like this book was well written and had developed the characters nicely. The plot was fast paced and pulled together nicely at the end. The balance between the erotic parts and the heart of the story was spot on. This book does contain fowl language and adult content. I would not recommend for anyone under the age of 18. That being said I enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading more of JB Duvane’s work.

This was a very interesting and intriguing bad boy romance to read and I enjoyed reading it. The story covers Zack Turner (aka Hook) who was betrayed by an girlfriend and went to prison for her, he has just released from prison after being locked up for a year for breaking and entering. Zack saves Mia from being raped in a alley by two men and this is where the story really begin. What you will find in this story is drama, suspense, intrigue, betrayal, prison, released, attempted rape, rescued, training at gym, teaching self defense, discovering house he tried to break into is Mia's parents house, feeling betrayed again, unplanned pregnancy, talking issues out, buying a house, emotional feelings and erotic scenes. The story "Bad Patient" is also interesting and intriguing. In this story you will find drama, suspense, intrigue, mafia overtones, regrets, a unplanned pregnancy, falling in love, romance, emotional feelings and erotic scenes. The story-line of both stories are well thought out and written. The characters are well developed and realistic with their problems, feelings, desires and needs. This is a good romance and I will most definitely recommend this book to people that like to read a extremely good well written book with a HEA in both stories.

Wonderful love story and really good story of how to come back up to the top when you've been kicked to the bottom. Zack and Mia are both recovering from strong negative blows in their lives, Zack for taking all the blame trying to protect his ex-girlfriend when she talked him to trying to steal money from her uncle and serving a year in prison, Mia is trying to get over her boyfriend's cheating on her. When Zack saves Mia from being raped by two guys she is very thankful and just wants to return the favor to him by helping him to train at her father's gym where she works. She doesn't know it was his house Zack tried to break into because she was away at college when it happened. Zack teaches Mia how to defend herself while also training at the gym. Things blow up when he finds out who Mia's stepfather is and the two of them have to try to resolve their problems in order for them to have their HEA. Get the book, you will really enjoy reading it and finding out how everything works out. I received a free book in exchange for an honest review.

I normally read paranormal books but oh this book was so very good! Zack just spent a year in prison due to a bad decision.
but really his heart was in the right place, I feel that why he did what he did shows the type of man he is. Zack was known as Hook on the amateur MMA circut. His signature move was a Left-Right combo so fast his opponent say it feels like you are hit
with a sledge hammer on both sides of your head at once.
Mia is a young girl fresh out of college who is not really sure what she wants to do with her life, She is single but all her party friends seem to have a singificant other. Mia gets into trouble one night at a bar, wont give anything away here but Zack is the one to save her.

Hooked is about H Zack MMA fighter know has Hook and h Mia.
Zack just got out of prison and Mia is just our of college working at his Gym. These two characters meet at a cretain time in their lives one needs to be saved and the other needs to healing of his faith in himself and others. The chemistry between Zack and Mia is off the charts. Steam was coming from my Kindle from these two getting down and sexy in the weight room. There was a cetain twist towards the end that didn't see coming. Zack was perfect in my opinion, he was protective, sweet, honest and oh so hot. I couldn't help but fall for him.
This is the third book I have read by Tanner and I absolutely love her writing style. This is the first time reading a story by JB Duvane and I enjoyed Hooked. So I will be looking for more by Duvane.

What a beautiful story about second chances, love, forgiveness, and redemption. Zack went to prison after being set up by his girlfriend. When he gets out a year later he feels worthless, and has to get his life back on track. The first night of his freedom he stops two men from raping Mia. These two meeting starts Zack on the road to redemption, forgiveness, and love. Zack is a nice guy who was used by his girlfriend. Mia is sweet and trusting, and when Zack saves her she feels protected and safe with him. There are surprises to this story, and connections to Mia, and the reason that Zack was in jail. But everyone deserves a second chance. And Mia loves and believes in him.

Love Zack and Mia. Zack is such a sweetheart and I love how Mia is always there for him. He's been burned and isn't looking for another distraction. But, he's the only guy she feels safe around, since the incident. Things seem fine. Then there's a misunderstanding. One of them feels like they've been betrayed and humiliated. But can they work it out? Hmmmm, you'll have to read Hooked to find out won't you! Great book loved it, give it try. You won't be disappointed.

Zach is a cage fighter that gets suckered in by a deceiving girlfriend and ends up spending a year in prison. Mia is a hard working gal that made a couple of foolish decisions of her own. They meet one night in a dark alley when he saves her from being assaulted by two burly men. This action turns out to be the turning point in both of their lives. When secrets are revealed, one realizes we live in a small world indeed. Their story is entertaining, heart warming and a joy to read. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five stars.
