'Black Bat Omnibus' collects all twelve issues of the maxi-series. I was heading toward a five star review, but felt a little let down by how some of the story got wrapped up.

Tony Quinn is a mob defense lawyer, but along the way he displeases the bosses and they blind him. He is approached by a shadowy organization that offers to help him. They give him so cool eye implants and some combat training and the Black Bat is born. He is a vigilante in a city where he finds himself working

I really wanted to like this, and I think there is a potential for a good story here, but the actual writing is just so frustratingly bad sometimes. For instance:

1. Despite the fact that the Black Bat runs around dual-wielding handguns all the time--which is visually cool--he refuses to shoot anyone, leaving the book full of silly things like Black Bat shooting a branch from a tree, which falls and lands on the bad guys, knocking them out. Real loony-toons type stuff. The answer is c

Tony Quinn has made a lot of mistakes, like becoming the go to lawyer for the mob. After refusing what would be the equivalent of murder Tony's boss gauges out his eyes. Blinded and depressed he attempts suicide only to be saved by a shadow organization that no offers him a deal he can't refuse, they give Tony a shot at redemption.

Now enhanced with cybertronic eyes Tony dons the mask of the Black Bat to right the wrongs of his past and help give his city a better future.

There's one to way make your comic hero stand out, if you've chosen him to patrol the streets of a night-clad city as a vigilante looking and acting somewhat like a bat – and that's to make him not the one in control. Tony Quinn is the said do-gooder, but when he's trying to sort out the city's PD and their case of the missing, kidnapped detectives, he's getting in way out of his depth. To my great surprise the creators aren't – there's a DareDevil aspect to Quinn being blinded, but he's been fi ...more

This collection brings together issues 1-12 of Black Bat, a blind vigilante equipped with special/bionic eyes who was a former corrupt lawyer now fighting for justice against mobsters. However all is not as straightforward as he would like to believe.

It is not entirely clear at first if he’s involved with the “good guys” who saved his life and gave him his eyes or if they have their own agenda.

A cross between Batman and Daredevil, the similarities are obvious. It is well-

A decent re-imagining of a pulp vigilante moved to a new time. A lawyer gone bad who is trying to make up for the harm he did gets sucked into a plot by a megalomaniac billionaire who tries to change society, probably to his benefit. Plenty of action, character development, and a bit of romance. I am looking forward to the next volume.
