Grace Norwood loves her job as a DJ at a small radio station. She'd only meant it as a little joke when, after meeting Brian Talbot, the handsome new Advertising and Promotions manager, she played the song "Somebody to Love" during her show--and quipped that she'd met someone who needed somebody to love. Before she knew it, the idea had taken hold and the station was running a promotion to find a girlfriend for Brian. Brian resents the idea and decides to turn the tables on Grace. The radio station is soon running a second promotionfinding a boyfriend for Grace. Betrayed by his former girlfriend, Brian doesn't believe in love, and fights the urge to begin a relationship with Grace. As the radio station audience listens, Grace and Brian go through the motions of finding Valentine's Day dates...all the while struggling with their growing feelings for each other. Will the two of them learn to listen to their hearts and discover somebody to love...in each other?

I do believe this is my favorite book to date by Ms. Denholtz. Grace Norwood is a DJ at a local NJ radio station where she spins oldies from the fifties and sixties during her Peace Love and Happiness hour. The daughter of a couple who met at Woodstock, Grace embraces the ideals of the music she plays. Enter the new sales exec, Brian Talbot who's been burned by love and doesn't believe in any of Grace's "Flower Child" philosophies. When she teases him about needing Somebody to Love, an idea is spawned to find Brian a date for Valentine's Day as a new radio promo gimmick. All too soon, Grace is roped into the same promo, and the two find themselves choosing dates for each other from the multitude of eligible bachelors/bachelorettes who enter the contest. But as they get to know each other, Grace and Brian begin to realize that maybe their somebody is right there. This is an adorable sweet romance. The age of this story is apparent when certain radio jargon is mentioned, but it's still a delightful nod toward a time that engenders nostalgia these days and only adds to the flavor of the even older song references. Well done.
This was a sweet, clean romantic story. Grace is a "Flower Child", born to a couple of hippies who met at Woodstock, and a consistently happy, positive person who believes in everlasting, true love. Brian hasn't grown up knowing true love and his past experiences have left him a skeptic and a cynic when it comes to love. Grace tries to "find him someone to love" but finding him someone he trusts enough to fall in love with proves much harder than expected... This is a nice story to read during the winter months, curled up by the fireplace with some hot cocoa.
