Loyalty is fragile. Blood is currency. And the biggest threat comes from within.

Caidrik McGregor has spent his life as a mercenary, fighting for those who could afford his blade and walking away before the dust settled. Now, he’s been offered something far more dangerous—a chance to claim the Alpha seat of the Slate Pack, the same pack that cast out his family generations ago. To take it, he must survive the brutal trials, silence the doubters, and crush the rivals waiting for him to fail. The prize isn’t just power. It’s Nadia Hodge, the newly discovered daughter of the current Alpha, bound to him if he survives.

Nadia never needed a pack, let alone an Alpha deciding her fate. She didn’t grow up with their rules, wasn’t raised to play their games, and has no intention of letting a hardened outsider control her future. But war is coming, led by Caidrik’s half-brother, and someone inside their own ranks is leaving bodies behind. If she wants to protect the people who now call her family, she may have no choice but to stand at Caidrik’s side.

With enemies circling and trust in short supply, Caidrik and Nadia must decide what matters most—vengeance, power, or the unexpected pull of a bond neither of them saw coming.

Enforcer by Rebecca Zanetti
Stope Packs series #5. Paranormal wolf shifter romance. Can be read as a stand-alone.
With her father no longer considered the alpha of the Slate Pack, Nadia is forced to participate in brutal trials that will determine who will be the alpha. The alpha will then have the option to claim, accept, or reject the prize. Aka Nadia. Ancient laws written long ago will need to be followed since her father doesn’t have any living male or alpha heirs. Nadia doesn’t want to fight to claim the title. She’s a gardener. An organizer. So she has to wait and see which of the five contenders will be alive at the end of the trials. If she can survive.
Caidrik McGregor has spent the last few months as Nadia’s bodyguard. As a former mercenary, he has the experience and fortitude to do what needs doing, even if that means killing in the name of keeping Nadia safe. And his.

The candidates for alpha have their own motives and worse, their own agendas. The written laws say “fight to the death”. Caidrik will protect Nadia whatever the cost. He’ll claim her too.
Fast, brutal, and nail biting tension. Steamy.
Everything you’d expect in a Zanetti story.

I received an early copy. I also purchased a copy to keep.

It started out okay. I mean, I like this series a lot. It’s a low cheese, medium spice PNR, not fine lit, but it’s entertaining with decent characters, you know? But, it just got stupid. The whole premise was a little stupid to begin with but:

1- You’re telling me they couldn’t keep from banging it out for a week? After he body guarded her for months not touching her? And, she says, “I just didn’t take it very seriously…” Even though the aunties TOLD her flat out that the enforcers would be forced to hunt them and kill them if they broke that particular rule? Wtf ever. Dumb.
2- You’re telling me that he jumps in her window, so clearly nothing was out there, or attached to the house, and less than 5 minutes later at the exact moment he’s jamming his member in there his brother rips the side of the house off with an excavator? What did he attach it to? And, how did they not hear that? They’re wolves! They would’ve heard the bloody excavator coming and surely thought, “It’s the middle of the night, why is heavy equipment coming to my house?”, no? Or, what’s that grinding sound? Or chains, or whatever. Preposterous.
3- Then, there’s a way out, but no one mentions that if they take it they can’t ever be together? But, whoops, they’re already mated, so he just fought 26 people in a row for nothing…but, no wait…gah.

I’m also not okay with his brother living after all that bullshit he pulled. He. Tried. To. Kill. Her! They’re wolves! You’re the alpha! Nope. 👎

The whole end was just so stupid and disappointing. I love Zanetti, I do, but this last quarter was so full of plot holes and idiocy. I need to go reread Deep Ops or something. 😂

To protect the Slate Pack from a takeover by his evil half-brother, Caidrik McGregor steps up to undergo trials to become the new Slate Alpha. His one condition is that he wants Nadia Hodge, the former Alpha’s long lost daughter, as his mate. He has quite a battle ahead of him when the leaderless pack attracts additional contenders for the role of Alpha.

The modern day pack members want to make the Slate Pack great again by following the succession rules of their ancient grimoire, a tome so old that there is only one wolf left who can read it. Sadly, the old traditions reveal themselves to be not great at all, and Caidrik and Nadia are running out of time to “fix this.” Hampered by archaic rules, self-centred interests, and outright sabotage, the Slate Pack turns on its own heroes and risks falling under the control of an unscrupulous enemy.

I’ve known Ms. Zanetti to be an incredibly sexy writer, excelling in romance, vivid in her action sequences, and clever in her suspense. Enforcer showcases all of her best qualities. But by poking fun at the Stope Pack’s blind adherence to murky rules, this is the finest satire I’ve ever seen from her oeuvre. She tackles pack politics head on without being overtly “political.” It’s sharp, nuanced, and can be appreciated from multiple angles.

Kudos, Ms. Zanetti! This book is just what we needed. If it makes us think about what is happening in our own world, then it’s both profound and entertaining.

I received a beta copy for early review and reflection. Like many of this author’s works, I’m planning a re-read. I’ve never been more proud to be her Rebel.

Good book

I enjoyed reading this book. Non stop action from start to finish. Caidrik and Nadia are good together. I like how strong of an alpha wolf shifter he is. He’s strong and capable and you can tell how much he cares for her and makes her a priority. He cares about the Slate pack and doesn’t want to leave it to an alpha who won’t be good for it, like his step brother. He also does everything he can to protect her.
She’s a planner and cares a lot for the pack members.
I didn’t really resonate with the grimoire and trials part of the plot. It was archaic and I commiserated with Caidrik and Nadia on how frustrating they were at times. It did add to the excitement, suspense and action though and I think most people would enjoy it.
I’m sad that this series is done and hope that there will be more like perhaps with their kids when they are grown up.

Enforcer (Stope Packs Book 5) is Nadia and Caidrik’s action-packed, standalone, PNR, happily-ever-after tale.
It sounded so easy, the Slate (wolf shifter) Pack needs a new Alpha, and 5 competitors sign on to complete the challenges. But from the very first quest, to the very last, life-threatening danger is found at every turn. It’s a fun, thrilling, romantic, page-turning adventure. And I loved every second!

such a good read

I’m sorry that this is the last one in the series. Another great storyline with enough drama and romance tossed in to keep me turning the pages. As with the rest of the series past characters make an appearance and, if you haven’t read their stories, it makes you want to!!! This author never fails to delivered goods… every single time.

What a terrible book, I didn't like it and it bored me. I would have really preferred something different for the ending of the series about the Stope Packs, but maybe it's just me who can't stand werewolves anymore, or maybe it's the author. Anyway, it's definitely a personal issue or maybe it wasn't the right time, but I'd rather forget about Cadrick and Nadia.

Caidrik and Nadia

This is the final Stops Packs book and it is a fitting conclusion to a great series involving wolf shifters. The Slate pack is in need of a new Alpha so Caidrik steps up but is then challenged for the position. Nadia is the "trophy" but she's a farmer at heart. The challenges are deadly but she and Caidrik work together to reach the best outcome. This is a cleverly written story that kept my interest throughout and I loved all the secondary characters as well. Highly recommended.

Not one of my favorites

Wow what a weak ending. Almost disappointing that the strength of alpha didnt mean something. The games of two busy buddies made for a story on an elementary level. I love this author! Not sure where this story came from.

This book was all over the place. Seriously over the top alpha trials led by a librarian with a grimoire written in an ancient language only he can read.
Not to mention chastity laws and chastity aunts!

Verdict: Nonsensical plot

Too goofy

Sadly this fourth book was silly goofy and a take off of hunger games. It was so out of pocket and ridiculous. Add in the recycled and reused passion and sex and discipline scenes and you've Got a waste of time. Don't bother.
